Elizabeth Tanner has one to find her mother in whatever dimension she’s imprisoned. But to do that, she has to face her estranged father, and to do that, she needs a shot of whiskey…or seven. Finn O’Connell doesn’t know why the Fianna want him to aid Elizabeth in her search, but he’ll take any excuse to be near her again. Together, they dive headlong into the shadows of her mother’s secrets and find themselves embroiled in a Fae rebellion that will test Finn’s loyalties and their love.

With the Faerie realm verging on chaos, Elizabeth and Finn will embark on a quest that will lead them from the streets of Chicago to London’s seedy Fae underground. But rescuing Elizabeth’s mother means journeying to a place Finn can’t follow, and Elizabeth is forced to make a choice between finding her at last or saving her own soul.

Children of the Veil is the second book in the Aisling Chronicles series that picks up right where the story left off in the first book, Through the Veil. The series main character is Elizabeth Tanner who thought she was just a regular broke college student until she finds that there is a whole hidden world that she hadn't known existed until she found out that her mother was Fae and she herself is half Fae.

Now Elizabeth is determined to find her mother in whatever dimension she’s imprisoned but that must start with facing her estranged father. Finn O’Connell returns to aid Elizabeth in finding her mother as the two face the her mother's secrets and find themselves still in the middle of the Fae rebellion.

Returning to this world within the Aisling Chronicles as a lot of fun. The series is a very complex adult fantasy read that is highly based on Irish mythology in which that alone gives it a bit of it's own stand out difference from other fantasy reads.

The world is well thought out and given quite a bit of depth with all the different aspects to it and the action is non stop throughout the books. I would definitely recommend picking up the first book to learn more about the characters and story line before jumping into this second but both books have been quite good fantasy reads that stand out from the crowd with their Irish based twists on the Fae, demons, magic, vampires and all involved.

Overall, a great addition to the Aisling Chronicles series, a complex fantasy series for adults with a bit of language and sexual content.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is the second book in this fast paced fantasy romance series and continues on from where "Through the Veil" ended, so I really recommend reading that one first! The heroine is Elizabeth Tanner, who discovered she's only half human in the first book and that, as the Aisling, she's the focus for many different paranormal factions for many different reasons. In this story she's striving to locate and free her mother but there's danger surrounding her, with some out to kill her, others wanting to harness her powers, some seeking to use her for their own ends and she's really not sure who to trust. After she's saved from an assassination attempt by her love, Finn O'Connell, he offers to help her search for her mother. Elizabeth may love him but she doesn't totally trust him with her heart.

Get ready for a page turning, adventure in the Faerie and mortal realms, with rebellion, demons and power hungry enemies out to thwart them in their quest. The author has created a series of well crafted multi-dimensional worlds, complex characters and an enthralling plot. There's plenty of Irish mythology mixed with contemporary situations, romance with rebellion in this fantastic series. This is a turmoil filled fantasy, with Elizabeth having dreadful decisions to make. I can't wait to read what happens next!!

**I received a free eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

After everything she went through in the first book, Elizabeth Tanner proves she's more bad-ass than ever! She's now looking for her mom, who's being held prisoner somewhere, maybe even another dimension, but she doesn't have many clues that could help her. And, after trying her best to forget about Finn, she suddenly finds herself fighting next to him to search for people who might know about her mom's whereabouts.

As they work on this mission, Finn and Elizabeth realize that they don't know each other as well as they thought, and that there are a lot of secrets between them. Either way, they're very much in love, and they show each other again and again how nothing's ever going to change that, even if they're supposed to be enemies.

I really loved the plot in this sequel, there were so many things going on! And I never felt lost or like there was a bunch of useful information to get through, it felt just right and made me want to turn to the next page to find out what would happen next.

Elizabeth is a great female lead, just like she was in Through the Veil, and I love reading about her and her adventures. She doesn't like to be rescued, she likes to do the rescuing part herself. And, no matter how many powerful enemies are after her, she knows how strong she really is and doesn't let anything frighten her.

Oh and gotta love the fact that she likes Harry Potter so much. I just felt like adding that :)

Make sure to read this series if you love fantasy stories packed with lots of action and romance.

This is a continuation of Through the Veil and is not a standalone.

I have my moments when all I want to do is get lost in another world. I think we all do, that’s why we read, but what Ms. Halverson created will truly suck you in! The way she describes the landscapes and things in general really paints a picture in your mind of the world she created.

If you are a fan of other Fae books, Irish mythology and general paranormal books you really need to give this series a try. Not only does she include many “species” of Fae, her mythology lessons alone are worth the read!

Children of the Veil will take you through an action packed adventure that will leave you wanting more. There were times I was yelling at my copy hoping that the characters would hear me. (Sadly, only my husband and children did and now they think I am even crazier!) I was glued to the characters and despite the fact I wanted to shake them to pull their heads out, I also understand the decision they made.

I can’t wait to the next installment of this series! ~ Devlynn, 4 stars

I originally reviewed this book on my Rant and Rave About Books Blog: https://rantandraveaboutbooks.com/201...

Rating: Rave Review- 4/5 Stars

I reviewed Through the Veil this week in anticipation of Children of the Veil's release on Monday. You can find my Rave Review HERE.

After the stunning conclusion of Through the Veil, the second book in the Aisling Chronicles, Children of the Veil, begins shortly after the events that took place at the end first novel. Elizabeth Tanner is back to her old routines, living like a broke college student and drinking her way through the days since she last saw Finn O'Connell. The binge drinking only last for the first chapter before Finn returns with no explanation to save Elizabeth's life. As the granddaughter of the Fae King, Elizabeth has a target on her head. Even though she's half human, Elizabeth is still considered the rightful heir to the throne because of her aisling powers.

In the first book, we're introduced to aislings, magical creatures who have the ability to open portals, move between realms, and are basically travelers with additional gifts such as telekinesis. At one point, Elizabeth conjures up her magic and hits someone with a ball of light that reminded me of what Sookie did in the TV show, True Blood. In fact, a lot of things in this series have somewhat reminded me of the True Blood books and TV show mashed together with a lot of Irish mythology. That's also what I loved about these books.

Lovers of Irish mythology, you will appreciate the world Haleverson has created that's somewhat true to the legends we all know and love, including some of the same gods and heroes, with a different spin on history. To fully understand the world building and how the human world and magical realms connect, you will need to read the first book in the series because the story is very complex, especially in terms of the mythology.

In Children of the Veil, Elizabeth and Finn set off on another mission to find Elizabeth's mother who was presumed dead until Elizabeth learns there's a possibility she might be alive at the end of the first novel. From the start of the series, everything has revolved around Elizabeth's mother and her betrayal of her family and her people. Elizabeth doesn't know what to believe when it comes to her mother, the woman who abandoned her after giving birth, and especially not when the information comes from her father, a man who has never shown her an ounce of love.

The nature of her mother and father's relationship is revealed in this book. It explains why her father has been so detached her entire life. But Elizabeth has enough to worry about, like saving her people from being thrown out of their realm, potentially losing Finn, and the possible loss of her soul.

All of the romance from the first book is present in the sequel, with Elizabeth and Finn sneaking around to be with each other because Fae and Fianna are not allowed to be together. The consequence of Finn, who is a Fianna warrior, and Elizabeth, a Fae Princess, dating is death because of a contract that was signed between the two races. I expected Finn and Elizabeth to keep more of a distance from each other because of this but they seemed more determined to break the law, no matter what the cost.

I recommend this series to anyone who likes YA and NA fantasy and isn't scared off by a little romance. There are no love triangles in this book, which is a welcome relief from the norm, considering just about every YA fantasy finds a way to squeeze in a love triangle that adds nothing to the story.

The plot of this series is about Elizabeth's mother and saving different races of magical creatures with a romantic element. It's not like Twilight or the Lux series where it's all about the romance, which is why I really liked this book. I also liked the Lux series until I got bored around book 4. The Aisling Chronicles is fast-paced, with each chapter revealing something new and exciting. I highly recommend check it out. And the ebooks are only $3.99!

My thoughts are all over the place with this one. On one hand it was certainly entertaining. On the other hand, I was getting annoyed by the constant kidnapping and decision making of the heroine. She was so powerful yet so damn stupid with her decision making. She was so easily caught... EVERY DAMN TIME! Also, there was so much that could have been written. So much more story to play off of.

And that ending.... is that it? Is that person she's been searching for throughout both books really freakin dead? Dead just like that? So anticlimactic! Is it a 2 book series or are we going to read about the revolution in a 3rd book and read about her getting kidnapped over and over again?

IDK I'm giving this a 3 star just to be nice but it should probably only be a 2 star. Espeically when I found myself wanting to skim read. Oh well.

This book was a whirlwind of action and magic, with enough steam to burn the pages. From one peril to the next, Elizabeth and Finn keep you invested every step of the way. This was a stellar sequel to THROUGH THE VEIL, and I can only hope there will be a third installment in the series!

Holy wow, you guys, I'm seriously blown away with what I just read! Yikes, I need to sort through that enormous mess of thoughts and emotions in my head!!!

So, anyway, Elizabeth has broken things up with Finn and decided she will look for her mother, while making sure she doesn't ever become a sacrificial bride again, or let the Fae politics drag her down. However, things rarely go as planned, and she soon finds herself by Finn's side again, both working together in order to locate Niamh, stop a war, survive the bloodthirst of the Fir Bolgs, and making sure to keep as much out of the Fianna's clutches as possible... Can they get a second chance in their love - and live to tell the tale about it?

Honestly, I figured Lizzie went through enough suffering during the first book. I mean, getting married to Bres and tolerating all that abuse, well, what more could be done to break her? But I was wrong, and despite the fact the events in the second book nearly left me mentally crippled, I was delighted to be so!

Colleen Halverson did a majestic job of bringing more trouble on her heroine's way, but it wasn't only that. The physical suffering Lizzie had to experience was bad enough, but the emotional scars? Pretty badass on the auhor's part, and totally ruining us as readers, if you ask me. Lizzie had to live through continuous betrayal, from every side possible, and by the first half of the book, I swear I was like "Ok, no, this guy can't be trusted. That one either - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THE OTHER ONE!".

I developed trust issues. Against fictional beings. Job VERY well done, Mrs. Halverson!!!

The romance, despite its rough start, escalated rather hotly and in our favor once Finn stopped all that holding back. I wanted him killed in the previous book, but I admit I warmed up to him after seeing how far he was willing to go for Elizabeth. And, OK, his resourcefulness in intimate... situations didn't hurt... *whistles*

The story was full of twists, and, if you haven't figured it out yet, there was no certainty for the true colors of any character. So it was really exciting to see what would happen next! Plus, there was this whole butterfly effect - when someone did something conerning magic and the Fae folk, there would be consequences, and no one, not even the main heroes, escaped that kind of law. I liked it!

Now, if someone can get me a design of that swan tattoo, I'm really interested in having it on me. Oh, and I can't wait for the next book. I'm sure Lizzie, so much more matured now with all her new experiences, and after all that character growth she's gone through, will be even more amazing to read about!

Finn and Elizabeth make such a good team.
There is plenty of conflict, battles and romance.
A great sequel to the first book Through the Veil.

4 “She’s Kicking Ass Again” Stars

ARC via NetGalley

Thank you, Entangled.

A few months ago, I was introduced to this new series that had a Fever-vibe, and I really enjoyed the first book, so I was only happy to read the sequel.

The Aisling Chronicles series follows Elizabeth Tanner, half human and half fae, and her adventures as she’s introduced to this new world where faes aren’t just part of folklore and her imagination.

In the first book, Elizabeth learned the basics of this new world and her powers. She not only had to face dangerous enemies, but she also found some time between all the ass-kicking to fall in love with Finn O’Connel. Let's just say that after two books, you'll understand how that happened.

This second book picks up from where the last one left off, and we have Elizabeth, stronger than ever, using everything she’s learned and a little more in her quest to find her mother.

First thing I’ll say: read book number 1 before you start this one. You’ll need all the information you can get before you’re immersed in this world. Colleen Halverson created an interesting world and did a great job introducing the readers to some of the key players in this game in book one, so starting with the second book will leave you a bit lost and won’t let you enjoy the experience as much. You don’t want that. You want to understand why the players are moving the way they are, why Elizabeth is risking so much to go after her mother and why her relationship with Finn is so important to her.

Like book one, Children of the Veil is all about adding twists based in Irish mythology (yay!) and all about action scenes that put Elizabeth's life in danger, just to have her fight her all through, which makes reading both books easy, fast and super entertaining.

Here, the romance was filled with tension in the beginning, but things progressed and got hotter *fans self*. With everything that Finn and Elizabeth went through together, I can say I enjoyed watching those two grow as individuals and a couple.

Again, Colleen Halverson wrote a story full of twists and turns that will please the people who read the first book and will keep them waiting for the next book. There’ll be a next book, right?

But if you’re new to the series, don’t worry. Get book 1 and 2, buckle up and enjoy this new ride.

Elizabeth has found out a lot about herself already, but there are more answers for her to be received. Her mother is missing and Elizabeth wants to find her. She doesn't want to see her father, but she has questions about her mother and he's the only one who can give her the information she needs. Elizabeth has Finn by her side. They were separated and can't be together, but he has an assignment that brings him near. Elizabeth has to make a couple of very important decisions that will influence her future forever.

When the ultimate sacrifice is being asked of her Elizabeth willingly gives what she can. Does she completely understand what she's done and what are the consequences of this decision? There's unrest and battles are being fought. Elizabeth and Finn are in the middle of it, which means they will get their information, but they are also in constant danger. Will they remain unharmed or will the battles leave scars they can never erase?

Children of the Veil is the second book in the Aisling Chronicles. I love this series. It's action-packed and filled with secrets and intrigues. Bit by bit Elizabeth and Finn unravel them and Elizabeth learns many new things about her family and her powers. She's fierce and strong and she's willing to sacrifice everything for her loved ones. That's a wonderful quality, but also a dangerous one. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Finn is a tough man with a good heart. There's a lot of great chemistry between him and Elizabeth. Their relationship is complicated and that makes their love affair really interesting.

Colleen Halverson has created amazing magical worlds. I love her creativity. There are two main characters in her story and they meet a lot of interesting and different people on their journeys. This keeps the story new and fresh, which is something I liked. Colleen Halverson's main characters don't have it easy. Their lives are under threat, they are being captured, they are being assaulted and there are plenty of nasty and spiteful remarks. The underlying relationships between the characters are fascinating and I liked the political views Colleen Halverson shares with her readers. Children of the Veil is a fabulous fantasy story and I enjoyed reading this gripping and original book very much.

Children of the Veil - Colleen Halverson (Aisling Chronicles 2)

### 4.75 Hashtags ###

This is an action packed paranormal adventure, this author has an amazing talent for mixing these detailed paranormal reads with some seriously hot chemistry taking them away from the common YA genre.

You really need to start with book 1 in this series before reading this book, this series is such good value as both books are very long in depth novels. Colleen has a wonderful way of writing, beautifully descriptive, action packed and completely captivating the whole way through.

Following on from the first book, Elizabeth's journey is never ending. She is now on a crusade to find and locate her mother, but is she still alive ? I loved how our normal world is mixed with the world behind the veil, especially when they pop up in Marks & Spencers !!

For me, this wasn't quite as mind blowing as the first book, but it came very closely on it's heels. I really did enjoy the all the unexpected twists and turns throughout this novel and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.

Children of the Veil is the second book in the Aisling Chronicles Series. The story picks up where the first one ended. My only complaint is that there was no lead in. With the number of books I read and the length of time between book 1 and book 2 I needed to go back and refresh my memory as to what had happen at the end of book 1.

Now onto all the good stuff, the amazing storyline, and the wonderful characters. Elizabeth is searching for her mother. The mother who has never been around but gave her the part of her that is fae. She has to face her father, who is not such a great dad, and search through history to find out what has happen to her. Finn, Elizabeth’s boyfriend, is sometimes helpful and sometimes secretive. I understand that he is trying to protect her but it seems that every time he leaves her out of something or tries to be sneaky it backfires and Elizabeth is put in danger.

The story is not a quick and easy story. There is a lot happening and a lot of different type’s to keep track of. The story is based on Irish mythology and is complex. This makes Children of the Veil a different feel that the other paranormal books I have read. You absolutely have to read the first book in this series before picking up this one. But they are both worth reading. Take the time, find a quiet spot and enjoy!

Children of the Veil, Colleen Halverson

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Fantasy & Paranormal, Romance

Well, wow, this is such a brilliant series.
I’d read the sample of book one before requesting this, and when I was accepted I bought book one and read that first. Don’t be tempted to read this without book one, you'll miss so much and will find the storyline so difficult to follow I think. You can miss books in some sereis but not here, there’s so much going on and its hard to know who to trust, who’s telling the truth especially when we get another persons views of what actually happened – that can change the way we feel about events and it happens a few times here. Really keeps the reader on their toes!!

Its hard to believe that Through the Veil was Colleen’s debut novel, it's so well written, so polished, and flows seamlessly despite covering some serious issues, and of course travelling back and forth from world to world.
That can make books really confusing to read but its done so well here I could feel myself wherever Elizabeth was. It felt Real to me and that's my line, my marker for a good read. A five star one, even if its fantasy etc has to feel that if that ( whatever the fantasy/paranormal part is) were possible these events could happen.
Of course its published under the Entangled banner, I’ve bought many books and had lots of ARCs from them and I know they’ll deliver a story I can get lost in, without getting confused over bad editing and missing/disappearing story/plot lines. You know – when some parts that feel major are brought in lots of times then fizzle out to nothing. Or a plot gets so convoluted it no longer makes sense. Gah! None of that here thankfully :-)

After the  end of the last book I was gutted for Elizabeth, the connection between her and Finn was so solid I thought, so fated it was like they were twin souls, and yet he really let her down. Heart breaking.
Now they’re apart she’s not dealing with it well, left uni, out drinking and trying to lose herself in others every night. When the whole story came out I sort of understood why he did what he did but....for Elizabeth I was so upset, and I could feel her pain, feel how let down, betrayed she felt. Finn though has got hundreds of years of Fianna behind him, of obeying orders, toeing the line so he was in a hard place.
We like to think love wins but sometimes the barriers are just too much. Or are they? Can Finn find a way forward?

He’s desperate to be near her again, in whatever way he can, and when his task is to find her mother, it allies with what she’s decided to do anyway, so they team up, somewhat reluctantly on her part. Its a journey fraught with terror, betrayals, unwelcome surprises, that jumps from world to world, that uncovers secrets held at the highest levels in both worlds and that bring Finn and Elizabeth into danger again and again.

I loved it, loved the way Elizabeth did what was right – well, what felt right to her morally, regardless of the dangers. Finn needed that, needed to remember how to think for himself after so many years of being told what to do by Amergin ( Ah – I Hate that guy!). I can see why things were set up that way but its centuries on now, its not fair to only a few people, and time is ripe for change. Elizabeth's actions seem to be paving the way even though she’s only acting according to her conscience.

I love the way she’s growing into her powers, love the way she’s so loyal, won’t let people be hurt if she can help it even if they are on the “opposing” side ( though if she stabs Amergin with a rusty fork – spelled with a death curse of course I won't hold it against her – That Man Has To Go. )
She veers from one danger to the next, escaping by the skin of her teeth only, and each time moves her a little further forward to her mother, and reinforces just how much Finn loves her. She can’t stand out for that too long thankfully, and its Carpe Diem and worry about tomorrow when it happens.
Finn. Well, I was so so angry with him, even though I understood his motives in the last book. I really felt betrayed on the part of Elizabeth, to not even tell her any of this...he comes from a different time though, and he’s picked up current ways but when it comes to love he wants her tucked safely away and he reasons she doesn’t need to know everything, its a kind of throwback to his human time.
Elizabeth isn’t a tuck away person though, won’t sit back when there's wrongs to right, and she feels she can make a difference. Together they move forward in their quest and learn some incredible things along the way.
Its a fine line who to trust, and looking back at the past with new eyes, with different information means reassessing where the dangers lie.

I am really keen to read book three. I’m not sure if this is a series or a trilogy, but it feels like a three book read, everything in this seems to be leading up to a huge final battle and lots of change.
I’m really interested to see where Colleen takes them next, what surprises she has in store, and I’m still trying to get my mind around that fourth dimension/Tesseract stuff. It made sense – in an odd sort of way – and was perfect for that part of the story, and its something to have some fun with on Google.
I spend a lot of time looking up things I’ve found in books that interest me....Google is a great time waster but I prefer to call it educational research!

Stars: Five, a great escapist read, felt so real and when this is finished it'll be a sereis to re-read back to back in the way I really enjoy books most, getting the whole story in one good, long session.

Although I didn't finish it, that was due to my disconnect with the main character. I'm chalking this one up to my age. I think this character would appeal more to a millennial. I still love the world build and think the a lot of the characters are really engaging. I just couldn't stick with the main character and her choices. I'd still recommend this series to people who enjoy Irish Mythology though. The author really does weave and incredible world build.

**I received a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. What follows is that opinion.**

If you‰Ûªve read any of my other reviews, you‰Ûªll know how important strong, well-developed characters are to me. In this case, it took a good portion of the book to decide how I felt. I had mixed feelings about Elisabeth at first (she had some habits that annoyed me) but later, I found myself rooting for her. Overall, I liked Elisabeth and could feel where she was coming from. The other characters‰ÛÓFinn, Orin, and Malachy especially‰ÛÓplayed great supporting roles.

The romance between Finn and Elisabeth was carried over from ‰ÛÏThrough the Veil‰Û, but the events of that book seem to have left them in an uneasy place. The return to trust and intimacy progressed slowly, with a lot of

stop-and-start, worrying, and second guessing‰ÛÓat least on Elisabeth‰Ûªs part. Since I don‰Ûªt know exactly what happened between them in the first book, I can‰Ûªt comment on whether her feelings and reactions are justified or simply a contrived tension-builder. My guess would be the former, based on how Ms. Halverson presented the other interpersonal tangles. And when Finn and and Elisabeth finally got to the sex, it was well-written, appropriately timed, and not overly long or graphically explicit.

‰ÛÏChildren of the Veil‰Û was a very complex story, heavily steeped in Celtic mythology and magic. Fae, demons, magical artifacts, spells‰Û_this tale has it all and manages to pull it off in a modern setting. I‰Ûªve encountered the concept of a Veil between planes before, but the way it manifested here is interesting and encompassed more than just a barrier between the mortal world and the After. It‰Ûªs hard to relay all the brilliant aspects of this story in one revi

ew and those are the kind I enjoy the most; when I finally have to sputter, throw up my hands, and say ‰ÛÏOh, just read it! Then you‰Ûªll see what I mean!‰Û. Because really, it‰Ûªs that good.

The reason I gave it a B instead of an A? Enter my primary pet peeve as a review: typos. I will forgive the over/underuse of commas, but spelling mistakes, missing words, etc just make me crazy. I stumbled across a number of editorial ‰Û÷oopsies‰Ûª of the aforementioned variety in ‰ÛÏChildren of the Veil‰Û. It wouldn‰Ûªt hurt for Ms. Halverson or her editor to give this another read-through and polish it up.

Bottom line: This story is beautiful and has a depth of plot that will appeal to the die-hard fantasy junkie. If you love Celtic mythology, magic, and double-or-maybe-even-triple agents, then add ‰ÛÏChildren of the Veil‰Û to your reading list! HOWEVER, I do suggest you follow the suggestion in the description and read "Through the Veil" first. It isn't absolut

ely necessary, but it'll make the reeading of this one better.

Children of the Veil is the second and I guess last book of the Aisling Chronicles by Colleen Halverson. When the first book, Through the Veil, ended, we were left with Elizabeth back in the mortal world, in search for her mother. In this book we see her and Finn and new characters continue their quest and do so much more.

Like Through the Veil, Children of the Veil is such a page turner that I wanted to read in one gulp but had to take breaks because it was just so overwhelming. Elizabeth and her friends can't find one minute of peace, lol, and what happens is always unexpected. This is a quality I appreciate in books, because it helps me connect more with the book and remember what I read so that this won't be another series I have finished. So if you love fantasy and like stories with lots of action and tension, this will satisfy you.

Elizabeth did several eye rolling choices in this book like in the other one, but I felt I would have done the same. I liked how even when she makes a mistake, she doesn't dwell on it for long and moves on the next quest and tries to get things done and save herself in every situation, not waiting for Finn or any other man to save her ass. She wasn't a damsel in distress, and this is a brownie point for her. Novels should have powerful heroines.

In this book we discovered more about Finn's past. Like with Elizabeth, at times I didn't like how he acted, but he is a human. He also tells her at some point that he has made several mistakes in his long life. We can't be perfect. I would have loved to see more of him, maybe from his POV. I think it would have been interesting to see his thoughts when this or that happened to Elizabeth, although no-POV leaves more space for a mystery personality.

So, judging by the ending and the fact that the book has an epilogue, I guess that the series it's over? Sad, because although the ending is good, it leaves some unanswered questions. For example: I could also try to speculate about these as a reader but I would love to read another book on this series that responds to those questions. Maybe a book about Eamonn and Grainne, since I believe they are two interesting characters.

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in return for an honest review.

This is the second book of the Aisling Chronicles but the first I have read. Although it may have been nice to read the first in the series as it would have given me background for this book I felt that the story was strong enough to stand on its own.

This is a fantasy/paranormal quest with vampires, shapeshifters, fairies etc, who live between 2 worlds, the human and the fae realms, based, I believe, upon celtic myth.

Elizabeth Tanner is half human and half Aisling, imbued with all sorts of powerful magical abilities. She is searching for her mother who left her when she was a baby. Elizabeth discovered that her mother was a member of "The Children of the Lir" a radical group escaping from the "tyranny" in the fae realm.

This book is quite an adventure. Elizabeth's quest to find her mother leads to all sorts of encounters with demons, shape shifters, vampires and witches trying to stop her, capture/destroy her and her abilities. She is aided in her quest by Finn as they continue their romance.

This book is full of thrills, spills, twists and more. It takes you on quite an adventure.

After having read and thoroughly enjoying this book I feel as though I have missed a great story in the first book so will have to go and add it to my TBR pile and look forward to the next book in the series coming out.

When I got an arc of Children of The Veil I was so excited .I dived into this story as soon I could and I thoroughly enjoyed this book !!

In this book we follow Finn and Elizabeth . I loved these two together they had a relationship in the past and one of the things that I love about characters who have a past together Is all the back story you get along with it .The main reason why they are working together is because Elizabeth wants to find her mother and Finn is also sent on a mission to find her mother as well however its not necessarily for the same reason .The romance between Finn and Elizabeth in this story was just fantastic , watching them reconnect with each other was wonderful every moment we get to spend with them weather they were bickering or have sweet or sexy moment was just fantastic and made want to root for these two more and more. There was so much happening in this book so much I was just fascinated with the paranormal/supernatural/Fantasy aspects of this story I constantly want to know more and I love when that happens while Iam reading . There was never a dull moment in this book we were constantly on the go, constantly learning more , I had so much fun reading this story .

Children Of The Veil was a sexy , action packed , thrilling ,magical story . Iam very interested to see what Colleen Halverson writes next.If you love all these things in your books I suggest you get a copy when it comes out October 24 ,2016

I have to admit, I was utterly perplexed for the first few chapters, but once the story got going I was just as engrossed as I'd been in the first book all those months ago.  I certainly would have appreciated a bit more of a segue into this book, but if you are a binge reader, then you will have no trouble whatsoever in following right along from one book to the next.  Charlotte is a hot mess in this particular installment, so we aren't seeing as much of her strength at the beginning, but I'm all for showing all the sides of a character, it makes her so much more human even though she's...not. Entirely.  And poor Finn just can't seem to quite get it right but he is definitely trying.  I absolutely love how this doesn't really feel like Urban Fantasy with all the times in Tir na Nog and traveling otherwise outside the Earthly realm, yet we have the classic elements of the genre- action, adventure, swooning, brooding and myths brought into the modern world.  If you aren't familiar with Celtic mythology, not to worry as the author does a fabulous job explaining the more esoteric bits, and giving us all-too-accurate descriptions of a myriad of nightmarish creatures as they appear.  Overall, I'm very much a fan of this series so far and am anxious to see where Halverson takes us next!  *not so subtle hint that I'm ready for book 3*

4.5 stars and my thanks to the author for requesting a review!

I received an ARC in exchange for a review.

Children of the Veil picks up not long after Through the Veil ended. We're thrown right into the story with Elizabeth at a bar being almost killed by one of the many bad things that are after her. Good ol' lovable Finn enters then and saves her. Not long after this they are officially back together. I just love the relationship that grows more between the two. Finn is definitely in my favorite book boyfriend list! There are some pretty hot scenes between the two of them too.

Everything I love about this is in my review for the first book. The characterization is wonderful. The world that is created is vivid and exciting. It's just so nice to read an NA fantasy like this one. The length of time I took so long is not a reflection of the book itself. It's due to work and it being midterm season in school.

The reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars was because at times I found it a little dry or hard to focus on. That could be the book or it could just be me. It's also been quite a while since reading book 1 so some of the smaller details I forgot.

I think sometime in the next few months, especially before book 3 comes out, I need to reread both books and give this one a much better review. I know it deserves a better one, but when I read this book I don't think my head was fully in it.

I received an ARC. Colleen Halverson delivers another thrill-ride of a romantic fantasy with Children of the Veil! Once again, I was sucked into the book and couldn't put it down. My sleep suffered, but it was worth it!

Elizabeth and Finn are back in a big way. There's a plot against Fae princess Elizabeth's life, and Fianna warrior Finn will move hell and earth to be at her side, even though Elizabeth is still nursing a grudge against him. The chemistry between these two characters just sizzles. Elizabeth faces danger from faerie and human threats this time, and a reunion with her father shatters any illusions she had about her mother. I love the morally ambiguous new character of Malachy Moray. I heard Michael Sheen's voice in my head (Zeus, the club owner from TRON).

There's intrigue, magic, and hella hot scenes between Elizabeth and Finn--if there was any down side to this, it's that I felt I had to wait way too long for Elizabeth to just forgive Finn and jump his bones, already. The wait was worth it.

I closed the first book, sighed with happiness, and read it again. I didn't have that same reaction to this one, but I love love LOVE the badass Elizabeth is becoming. I don't want to give away anything, but the third book should be seriously intense.

This book is the second book in the Aisling Chronicles and it can’t be read as a standalone. The book starts where Through The Veil ended. I’m really loving this series and the characters. I loved this book more than the previous book. This book doesn’t end with a cliffhanger, but I hope there will be another book because I still have a few questions.

Elizabeth and Finn haven’t changed much. Elizabeth is still so strong, brave and determined. She knows what she wants and she will do anything to find what she is looking for. Elizabeth still sometimes makes stupid decisions that bring her in danger. Finn is still there for her and he is still very protective. He would do anything to keep her safe. He is determined to help her in her search. They are a great couple. They love each other very much and can’t imagine a life with the other in it.

Just like the previous book, there is a lot of mystery, action and suspense. I was again sitting at the edge of my seat. I kept turning the pages, wanting to know what will happen next and how this book would end. But to be honest, for me, Elizabeth was kidnapped too many times. After a while, I was just waiting for her to be kidnapped.

I dived into book one and loved it so when I had the chance to read book 2 I jumped right in.

The book continues Finn and Elizabeth's story, the chemistry between them is good and even though they are trying to keep their hands off one another it is not long until the pages start smoldering.

Elizabeth is on a quest to find her mum, she isn't going alone though Finn is her sidekick, and yes he's the sidekick as Elizabeth is quite good at kicking ass herself. She may have powers and be confident in herself but that doesn't mean she won't get into lots of difficulties and that is where Finn is her saviour.

Elizabeth and Finn are not meant to be together, it is against Fianna rules and that makes it more fun watching them care and love another - forbidden love is exciting. Talking exciting this book is fast paced and will keep you hooked. You do need to pay attention as there are a few characthers and factions in the story, it is also a must you read book 1 first.

This is a great series for paranormal romance lovers. I really enjoyed these books.

So I went into this one not realizing because I got caught up in the sound of it there was a first one. Oh well I thought it wont matter I usually can get on without doing that. Even though with this one I should of read it first, I might of had a bit of a easier time of it with helping to enjoy the characters to the fullest as intended . I did enjoy the characters still Elizabeth who is determined to find her mother with getting aid from Flinn. It is also a second chance with her for him. You will get a fantastic journey all over that will infuse much joy and excitement that only this type of fantasy can bring when the author is as gifted as this one. It is also filled with many aspects on why I read fantasy paranormal with this one having many of my favorites, such as vamps, shapeshifters along with the fae.

Another touching piece in this incredible story! Colleen Halverson was able to not only do as well but BETTER than the first installment in the Aisling Chronicles. Picking up right where the story left off you are immediately thrust back into this magical situation, the veil of our world that OTHER. The love, the adventure and all the new twists put into the series completely kept me on my toes. I LOVED every moment of Children of the Veil-- I am throughly looking forward to what comes next!

WOW!!! Just WOW!!! Colleen has outdone herself with this sequel to "Through the Veil." Elizabeth is on a search for her mother and the twists and turns in this story will keep you reading until late into the night. Once you start reading, you will not be able to put this book down. And is Finn part of this story? I'm not telling. You'll have to find out for yourself. Thanks, Colleen, for a couple of very late nights.

This is one of the best books I have read this year!!! Exceptional writing, fast paced, with well developed characters (love Elizabeth) and the plot is exciting. Lots of twists and turns (lots of passionate scenes too) that keeps the reader guessing but not confused. Can't get enough of the Aisling Chronicles!!
MORE PLEASE!!!
