Ten years ago, a woman was taken for ransom and never seen again. Now another woman has been taken.
Grace Kelly Sanderson is living a quiet and mundane life as a call center agent. When a reporter is found badly beaten in a ditch, Kelly turns into her alter ego, Echo Rose, and begins searching for the people responsible. Meanwhile, Detective Skip Malloy is trying to solve the murder of a construction worker. When someone close to Skip is taken hostage, Echo becomes the only person who can help him.
THOMAS FINCHAM holds a graduate degree in Economics. His travels throughout the world have given him an appreciation for other cultures and beliefs. He has lived in Africa, Asia, and North America. An avid reader of mysteries and thrillers, he decided to give writing a try. Several novels later, he can honestly say he has found his calling. He is married with two kids, and he lives in a hundred-year-old house. He is the author of LEE CALLAWAY series, the HYDER ALI series, the MARTIN RHODES series, and the ECHO ROSE series.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Nice to have a heroine who is not afraid to get her hands dirty in the pursuit of justice. Quite a quirky character and quite a privileged child seeking attention from parents who seem unable to see the need in the child they think needs only material goods to impress not only her but also their friends and acquaintances. A good egg though who channels her energies into getting answers and solving crime. Happy to read more of this author's works.
ECHO ROSE REMINDED ME OF A MODERN DAY NANCY DRU LIKE CHARACTER, I CAN’T DECIDE HOW I FEEL ABOUT HER. SHE’S KINDA KOOKIE I’LL WAIT BECAUSE I HAVE 3 MORE OF THIS SERIES TO MAKE UP MY MIND. I DIDN’T CARE FOR THE WRITING STYLE WITH SO MANY CHARACTERS IT CAN BE A LITTLE CONFUSING. THEY ALL MAKE THE WRONG LIFE CHOICES WHICH PROVES TO BE VERY DESTRUCTIVE TO THEM. IT SWITCHES FROM CHARACTER TO CHARACTER WITH WHATS GOING ON IN THEIR LIVES. WHEW TO MUCH TO KEEP UP WITH. EVEN THOUGH IT COULD BE CONFUSING IT ALL WRAPS UP AND CONNECTS TOGETHER NICELY ;\
The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is mostly due to the quick ending of the story line. Granted Echo Rose seems to make valid conclusions quickly, but her solving the Walsh case came about so quickly that it seemed like the writer was in a hurry to complete the book.
Echo Rose wants the truth to prevail! She does not want glory or accolades for herself... she wants only that the truth be told! Echo Rose is the daughter of two wealthy parents, who seem more interested in "keeping up with the Jonses" rather than spending time with their daughter. Echo Rose wants to know that her parents love... or at least care about ...her. She doesn't feel like they care about her... only their friends and their status in their friendship circle(s) and in the community. Echo Rose is her "alter ego" name that she given herself. In her quest to get to the truth, she "investigates" situations under her "alter ego." There are many twists and turns in this story... and Echo Rose is right in the thick of them! Enjoy this fast-paced mystery... or is it mysteries?
Kelly is a bright young woman from a privileged background who has trouble figuring out where she fits in. Under a pseudonym, Echo Rose, she started working as an investigative reporter until her associate was killed on the case. Now she is working at a call center and musing on her future when a reporter she has counseled through her Echo Rose persona is found severely beaten and hospitalized. She is drawn back to investigate his attack because of her guilt over putting him in this position. I like the character of Echo Rose, and the story moves on quickly, but the ending was no surprise and a bit sudden.
A disenfranchised rich girl fancies herself an investigative reporter. She has skills. But when a reporter gets injured after following her advice, she vows to discover the truth. This leads to a web of corruption and then to a series of mysterious kidnappings.
I liked the Echo Rose portion but the rest was laughable. Who risks a kidnapping for one hundred thousand dollars when they are millions in debt and when it has to be divided four ways? The police and their families were just too sweet.Potential not realized.
I am a huge fan of Mr. Fincham's series of Lee Callaway, (don't fix all his faults) so it would stand to reason I would delve into another of his series. So there goes Echo Rose. This heroine might take a little getting use to. The story started with a flash, did a little smoldering in the middle but finished with a bang. I'll move on to book 2 and see where it takes me.
Echo Rose had stepped away from her journalism role after being involved in the Monkey murders . She was now working in a call center . When a journalist was found , badly beaten and fighting for his life she felt it was her fault for encouraging him to keep searching for the truth . She looks into his case and gets entangled into something more dangerous .
This was a good book by Thomas Fincham but there was too much going on and bringing it all together seemed a bit rushed to me. I liked the the character of Echo Rose but there was too much of a sideshow going on. I get the fact there has to be characters to make up the overall story but I just felt there were too many pointless characters in here. I'd still recommend the book though but I feel it could've been so much better but that's just my personal opinion.
I flew through this book after a somewhat slow beginning. The story got more exciting as the pages turned. I love the characters. The two police officers and how they share their lives and families and Echo Rose, who is quite the investigative reporter. Thank you, Thomas Fincham, for giving me hours of enjoyment reading this book! I'm going to start The Rose Garden tonight.
This story, or plot line wasn't bad, but the writing consisted of non-stop short sentences. It was like reading an elementary school primer. See Jane. Jane has a dog. Very distracting from the story. It may be a good book for very young, very slow and unsophisticated readers.
This is the first book in this series. I really enjoyed the thrills. It keeps you in suspense till the very end . I recommend this book. Cannot wait to read book two in this series.
Interesting characters. Excellent story. A lot of things going on in this story, but as you read along it all comes together. Kept my interest, kept me reading. Looking forward to more Echo Rose....
The twists and turns of this story and how the people all intertwined was exillerating to read it kept me engrossed well past my normal allotted reading time for a day.
Fincham phenomenally contorts the plot to keep the suspense going to the very end. Echo Rose is a journalist/blogger searching for the truth. Her curiosity is endless and her methods are questionable. This is a must read. No spoilers. Read!
I like this story! It was very suspenseful leaving me on my seat until the very end! Echo rose will be as good as the other lead characters! Can’t wait until the next story.
kept the reader waiting for the next “shoe to drop”
I have read many of Thomas Fincham’s books starting with Lee Calloway. Echo Rose was introduced in one of Calloway’s books. This story is a followup on how Echo meets the detective and ends up with a job at a newspaper.
I really liked this book! The characters were different and Echo Rose was a big part of the intrigue. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I'm sure you will like it too.
Good Read I finished this book very quickly. I couldn't wait to read what was going to happen next. A great 👍 cast of characters with excellent dynamics.
Vivid writing made this a fast-paced read. I figured out the mystery before the end of the book but couldn't put it down. Would love to see this on the big screen!
