Born and raised in Auburn, Alabama; Emmanuel Obi has lived in Switzerland since 2007. Emmanuel’s passion for writing began at a young age, though he never pursued it as a profession. A graduate from the University of Manchester with a Master’s degree in Healthcare Ethics and Law, Emmanuel uses writing and filmmaking as a way to “maintain his sanity” and share his passion for storytelling.
I can't even say WOW loud enough to cover the emotional rollercoaster I have been on. Highs like you wouldn't believe, and lows that make you cry out, "What?" There are so many aspects to this book.
First and foremost, I really appreciated that Bruce Howard was a Gentleman. In every sense of the word. His mind is razor sharp and he is quick witted and sees everything. You were also treated to perfectly executed knowledge about the other characters, how they behaved, how they felt and how they matured in the story. By the time the first part ended, you knew where you stood with all of the characters. Each chapter covers a period of time in connection with a particular case. It is an unusual way to do chapters, but it was an amazing way to do the chapters. It taught you about Bruce as a man and a Private detective. I was sailing right along until I ended the first part.
At that point the book takes on a totally different feel, it takes you where you had no clue you were going and the little pieces of the puzzle keep cropping up and connecting one at a time. When you think you have a clear picture of the finished product. All the while you are invested in the story, you care about Bruce and all of his cohorts. You reach yet another part and the players are familiar, yet not. It is tricky writing that keeps you so curious that you just have to stay with it. Once again as you become comfortable with the new aspects of the story it can change on a dime. These are not flighty changes, these changes make perfect sense and you know that this is seriously unexpected.
This is my first book by Emmanuel Obi, but you know that this is not could not be his first work. He is too seasoned, to comfortable in the writer's skin. I am impressed with this book. I look forward to reading more of his work. I have watched some of his short films and they show his skill in storytelling as well. His is a name we will know soon in many different arenas.
A short, well written and easy to read book. Just as the first volume, the sequel is equally engaging and immersive from page one. With its mysterious twists and turns, the plot is unexpected yet gripping from start to finish. Can't wait for the next volume!
Gripping from page 1 to the last word. You just can’t put it down. I even missed getting off the railroad a couple of times as I was so into it!
There are no boring hanging sections, very busy writing meaning always happening something, be it action, emotions or just coloring the scenery and building the places with love for the details. Everything is arranged and put together with care but still rough, direct and bold, also in language. Definitely some phrases you won’t forget!
All characters are fun to see how they evolve and become what they are and will be. This book is stupendous and rate it as a must read. Very talented writer and already now, looking forward to his next writings.
