The Hardy family has been through everything imaginable and yet they’re still standing. At the center of their strength is love … and that’s never been more important than now. Life is good for the Hardy family and they have a triple wedding on the horizon. Three couples – Grady and Sophie, Finn and Emma and Ally and Jake – are getting ready to pledge forever to one another. Mandy and James are watching from the sidelines and cheering them on, but they’ve got one final adventure in front of them as well. When four teenagers walk into a suburban mall and die at the hands of the police – and James – while trying to commit a robbery, the oldest Hardy brother is plagued with one question: Why? Why did four seemingly normal teenagers embark on a suicide run? What propelled them to do it? James is determined to find answers even as the big wedding approaches. He’s not doing it alone, though. He’s got his beloved wife at his side, and she refuses to take a step back until they have all the answers. They’re in it together … forever. Go along for one final ride and find out if Mandy can possibly find another ridiculously dangerous situation. Happily ever after is here. Now it’s time for everyone to enjoy it.
Mandy and the gals go to a mall for a wedding dress fitting and end up in a lock down situation with active shooters in the mall. Hw do they end up in such a bizarre situation? Mandy crawls out to the front to check if they are safe but finds herself face to face with one of the gunmen in a ski mask, uh oh…thankfully James arrives in time to face him and engage him, but gunfire is involved. The gunman is dead. The police arrive. The other 3 masked fumes are dead as well.
It’s a mess of a situation-particularly when it is revealed all 4 of the gunmen would be mall robbers were only 18. The Hardy brothers smell a big fat rat when things don’t make sense since these teens were from wealth, affluent families and beginning digging into sealed files and open an explosive can of worms that almost gets one of them killed - and when the villains are revealed? Shocking!
They finally made it - as a family, through trial, tribulations, losses, grief and sorrows, kidnappings and murder, heinous acts that most humans could not survive and be sane…with support and love, they have survive as a family.
Mandy is a superb sheroe and usually the main character throughout the series with her husband James at her side. That being said, it is the stalwart and often hilarious family of Hardy’s and their loves and added family characters that truly make the series the unique and stellar read that it is - brothers Grady and Finn, girlfriend Sophie and Emma, each with their painful pasts that bring unique vulnerabilities and sweetness, as well as the desire to protect them from those that have done such tremendous damage.
There were also the precious examples of extended friends with Judge McIntosh, Heidi and Peter, as well as Sven and Rodrigo, truly unexpected and interesting choices.
Now, to be fair, I did skip through most of the sex scenes and there were a lot of them - young people like that stuff, good for you. At my senior age I’m far more interested in the character relationships and the villains getting their just desserts and boooooyyyyy howdy there were some UGLY examples of depraved humanity throughout the series.
So happy they ended with justice - their ends as they deserved, which isn’t always the case in real life.
An amazing series, excellent writing and a totally worthwhile read
This is the final book in the series that has taken us on a journey through the lives and loves of the Hardy family: James, Grady, Finn and Alley.
We've watched them meet their respective partners, fall in love with them and finally it is time for the three younger Hardy's to marry the loves of their lives.
However, as usual, not everything is smooth sailing and after a shoot out in the shopping mall that James' wife Mandy is at for the final wedding dress fittings with Sophie, Emma and Alley, James and Alley's fiance Jake join the sheriff's department to take out the gunmen, which ends when James fatally shoots the final culprit to save his wife's life.
Naturally James and Mandy want answers to why the shooting took place and this leads to a mystery they never expected to stumble across.
Can Mr and Mrs Hardy save the day in time for the others to get married? Can Mandy finally get through a crisis without being in too much danger herself?
Lily Harper Hart has written this whole series really well and one can easily believe in all the characters. Their camaraderie, snark and sarcasm are believable and add humour and lightness to the storyline.
It is easy to forget they are characters in a fictional world and not friends you are happily catching up with.
Once again LHH has written an excellent book and storyline and I would like to thank her for her imagination. 😀
As the triple wedding event looms ever closer the Hardy's find one last case to resolve when the final dress fitting heads off into dangerous waters.
A raid on the mall by armed gunmen leaves the sheriff with only one option, evacuate the building and take down the gunmen. Aware that their partners are in the building James offers assistance which is gladly accepted.
With three of the four gunmen dead James finds the last threatening Mandy and when the gunman refuses to give himself up and raises his weapon towards Mandy James makes the final shot.
When their identities are revealed it's a huge shock, they are 18 year old students from a prestigious school and no one has a clue why they went on such a rampage or refused to give themselves up, opting instead for "death by cop".
When the father of the boy James shot asks for answers James determines to find them, leading them into a messy tale of drugs, rape and social experiments. A school with a sexual predator as counsellor and a family determined to stop their own daughter going to court.
As time runs out a confrontation will end it but Mandy is one on one with a sociopath determined to use her as bait for James. Can she get herself out of trouble one final time?
This series has been fantastic. I have loved all the characters even the supporting ones especially Peter and Sven. My favourite has to be Mandy and James. I loved watching their story start, develop as the series continued. Seeing trouble find Mandy all the time was so funny even though they both tried to prevent it happening. Trouble always finds Mandy no matter where she is. I have laughed so much reading these books and cried at some parts I don't want to say goodbye to them as I will thoroughly miss them. I hope the author writes new books in this series. The ending was sweet and wrapped up all the loose ends nicely. I want more!!!
The best part about following such a long series, is to see the character growth. Mandy is still a trouble magnet, but she no longer has to rely only on exterior sources to keep herself safe and strong. Love is what it is. And no one more than a Hardee’s seem to understand that it’s something that should be treasured valued and occasionally taken for granted because it is safe.
The basis of the books are good but how about a little imagination on the sex stuff and not so graphic. Also Mandy could act a touch more grown up then a teenage sex bimbo. Mandy sounds like a mental case that is 12 years old. You need to write a touch more without all the vivid sex. I can not imagine anyone being like her.
As usual another great hardy story.gald all of them got married .James always gives Mandy what she wants.ally got to be queen for a day .love the Harry's can't wait for next book.
But first, of course, there are four murders and skeezy rapists. So business as usual. I’ve read this series multiple times when I need a heart touching read.
Was a fun read, lots of serious buts aswell but the storys were all good, I didn't find any boring. And I thought the fun bits kept it light hearted aswell.
I adore this series but had been putting off reading the final book because I wasn't ready for it to end! It had been sitting on my Kindle for months, and I figured it was fitting to finally read it on Valentine's Day. It was just perfection--everything I had been hoping for and more!!
I was thrilled to see that this book focused mostly on Mandy and James, and that the triple wedding didn't overpower the story. The mystery was engaging as always, and I saw a lot of character growth in this story. The scene with Peter and Sophie was great, as well as the scene with Jeff and Emma. Overall there seemed to be a lot of closure in this story, which is really all you can ask for the finale. I really, really, REALLY hope that Ms. Hart decides to do some shorts in the future, but I am thrilled with this 24th installment of my favorite series!
Happily Ever After is here forever, but will it be that way for all of the Hardy's.
Book 24 is finally here I have read and loved each and every book I love love love James and Mandy from the moment they were reunited as adults through all of the psychopaths, bombs, guns, alligators and of course the SHARKS lol I have loved them more and more with each story their love is something to strive for its beautiful and unconditionally they truly just get each other they are the other half of themselves it's been a pleasure to read their stories and I will love re-reading them often. The rest of the Hardy's and their partners plus Sophie's dad Peter and computer geek Maverick they were all excellent support characters that made these books truly enjoyable reads.
But first one last story, how much trouble can Mandy find, will the triple wedding be a day of happily ever afters there was so much to like about this final story lots and lots of love, but also a great mystery with good twists and turns and some shocks along the way.
I will never miss the Hardy Brothers because they will be forever in my heart and the ending of this story was written so well I can see how magical everyone's futures will be.
I can't believe it's over! Maybe a epilogue in the future would be nice. I would like to see how Mandy's vision play out or how many kids Ally and Jake have but I guess all good things have to come to an end.
I loved this series and I'm sad to see it end, however Lily Harper Hart wrote a great book to end it. Mandy of course gets into more danger. This time we see more of Maverick and we get to see a different side to him. Lily Harper Hart wraps the conclusion to her Hardy Brother Security Series up in a nice sparkly bow!
Breaks my heart this is the last of this series . I hope at some point Lily Harper Hart will update us on the Hardy's . This book was a great read. As always I highly recommend anything written by Hart . Thank you Ms. Hart.
I started from book 1 and I have not been disappointed once....although I wanted a baby for them. This was a book that covered love, romance, friendship, loyalty, integrity and kindness. I could go on. I can not wait to read more from the author.
