“Make no mistake. You will serve Talon, one way or another. We just have to find that breaking point.”
It’s no secret I’m one of the few people (among those I know or follow) who are still deeply involved with this series. I cherish and am obsessed with Garret, adore Riley and the rest of the crew, have a love/hate relationship with Ember, and generally am knee-deep in Kagawa’s perilous fantasy story-telling abilities. The end of Soldier (and all of Soldier, really, in my opinion) was by far one of my favorite endings to a book-ever. But, even Kagawa can’t always be perfect.
Even with all the things I love about this series, this book felt, inevitably, like a filler to me. Not as much passion, not enough action, a little too much of that moron, Dante, and an overall overkill of some things. I say ‘some things’ lightly because I just don’t know how to explain what wasn’t right for me-it just wasn’t. I think there was too much background noise, too much buildup with not enough payoff.
“Though you are beautiful, you know that, right?” I think I blushed, and he smiled, leaning closer. “I didn’t fall in love with how you looked,” he murmured as his hand rose, gently brushing my cheek. “I fell in love with you.”
I liked so many things, as always with the Talon series, in this book, but I’m kind of in a place [with the content of the last book, Soldier] where I can’t say too much. I can say there was a lot of planning for an all-out war. I can say there was a decent amount of, ahem, romance. And I can even say the writing style wasn’t as strong as the last three books, in my opinion. But when you get down to it, I can’t say the things I REALLYYY want to say…because…spoilers lol.
But, hey, let’s recreate some dialogue like Joey from Friends and ALMOST accidentally spoil everything, while talking to Chandler and Ross:
J: Remember how that bastard cheated and went against the oath at the end of Soldier?
R/C: Riighhhttt, okay, so fun, I remember.
J: And then remember how Ember was begging him not to die and…you know…
R/C: Ooohh yeahhh, so cool.
J: And it just ended with Garret ?!
Rachel: JOEY!!!
HA. Sorry, but I can’t not talk about him!!!!! I JUST CANNOT. WHAT WORLD WOULD I BE LIVING IN IF I DIDN’T GUSH ABOUT ONE OF MY TOP BBF’S FOR LIFE??? Not a good one, that’s for sure.
So, anyway. Take what you will from this review, but just remember these key things:
-By far my least favorite book of the series
-Not my favorite dialogues, almost bordering on cheesy, which Kagawa has never done so I may be overstepping, I don’t know
-Lots of Dante…a big downside for me, because:
A) YAWN
B) BORINGGGGG
C) FUCK HIM
-Not as much action as I remember from the others
-Not as emotional, if you ask me
BUT
-Still some heart-wrenching moments
-Still some swoon
-Still butterflies in my belly
-Still Kagawa…and you ain’t doin’ half bad readin’ a Kagawa book, mmmkaaaaaayyy?
So…whatever. If you read it, read it. If you don’t, don’t. But I’ve done as good as I can keepin’ it real. Go with God.

Ugly Crying like...
My heart and soul were ripped to shreds at the end of Soldier....and with my horrible book slump, this is the ONLY story that could ease my wounded soul.
I'm so obsessed with Garret it's not even funny.
Which is why I am still a blubbering mess when I think of him...
and this story...and it's end...
and this evil author that I am obsessed with and adore.....
But I suppose I'll be fine (UNTIL 2017) ARGHHHHHHH UGHHHHH

Ember Hill, dragon, is in a battle to survive. The order of St George is hot on her trail, her brother entrenched in Talon and Riley just trying to make the right decisions for his rogues.
Betrayal comes where you least expect it and I can assure you there were some really shocking twists that completely took my breath away.
LEGION was a really great read.
I have to admit I was a little unsettled with the love triangle that continued throughout SOLDIER, but now that Ember has made her choice, the meat of the story has positively turned more toward the battle to survive against the corruption in all the warring fractions...Talon, St. George, Rouge and the ever intriguing Eastern Dragons...which I can't wait to see where Kagawa heads with them.
LEGION quickly became one of those white knuckle, bury-eyed, can't put down, read into the wee-hours of the morning fantasy, action, adventures, we all can't wait to get our hands on!

I like Garret and all but I...

Mysterious and alluring characters always get me intrigued.
I'm excited to see how the story develops onwards! The cliffhanger at the end of Soldier reaaaaaaally got me frustrated. Julie Kagawa knows exactly how to write cliffhangers like this, which is both frustrating and TOTALLY AWESOME.

Well, I think it’s safe to say my reading tastes have definitely changed over the course of the last year. This is the second series I’ve returned to this month (the other being The End of Oz) and had to ask myself what on Earth I was thinking when I said I liked them.
Is this the worst in the series, or can I just no longer stomach these entertaining reads that have no depth? Maybe a combination of both.
Like many readers, I find dragons very interesting, which is what initially led me to pick up this series.The first books lacked dragons, subbing it in for a contemporary romance. This book also lacks dragons, but it instead is filled with a war I don’t care about and boatloads of drama.
This series doesn’t seem to have stakes at all, considering how many dangerous situations these characters are put into but turn out completely fine.
Is this filler, or did I just not care? I’m leaning toward filler, considering the amount of flashbacks about school and studying for finals in a book that’s supposed to be about a dragon war. Did this really need to be five books? I don’t think so.
The characters are not great either. I still don’t care about Ember or Garret in the slightest. It really bugs me that the British character says ‘bloody’ every. single. time he. talks. The only one I still like is Riley. I did appreciate the constant perspective switching, as it kept me flipping pages since the sections were short.
The love triangle drama is still here, and, of course, my ship seems to be dead as well.
But look, my biggest issue here is that this was so poorly written. The dialogue is bad, the writing mediocre at best, the plot melodramatic and packed with tropes. Oh, and predictable.
Yeah, so this was a mess and I just couldn’t bring myself to even enjoy this as a guilty pleasure. It just felt bad. I’ll probably read the last book just since I’ve finished the first four, but I’m not even sure I still want to check out more by this author.

Sorry but major spoiler, Garret lives. Garret’s world has become upside down after meeting hatchling Ember Hill, falling in love with her, betraying St. George and found shocking discoveries about the organization that almost cost him his life. Now after near death experience that has changed him forever with life changing side effects, Garret alongside Ember, Riley/Cobalt and their allies embark on journey to discover what Talon is up to. Upon learning one of the Talon’s plans, Garret is torn between Ember, Riley and the rogues and the Order that raised him but to prevent Talon’s victory in the war, Garret must convince the impossible if they are all to survive.
Ember never thought she would be where she would be or find love with a human and former dragonslayer. With Talon on the move with their mysterious new weapon, she, Garret Riley/Cobalt and their allies journey to discovery the truth before it’s too late. Ember suffers heartbreak as she faces her brother, Dante once again at the heart of the Talon mystery only to suffer betrayal and a different kind of heartbreak. Ember learns why Talon was so determined to getting her back only to reveal a more shocking truth about her very existence when she finally faces the last person she ever thought possible; her mother. Ember’s inner dragon and human emotions continue to conflict with each other as she finally makes a decision of the men in her life. I feel for Ember from the conflict of her inner dragon and human heart to her constantly believing that her jealous, backstabbing, power-hungry brother can be saved and now this new shocking truth about her very existence is just shattering to our beloved red hatchling. I can’t grow to hate Dante more than I do now. He can’t see that Talon is evil or just doesn’t care anymore and is a part of the problem now. Oh, Dante and Ember’s mother, she is one piece of work and I will shed no tears if she gets killed.
The love triangle between Ember, Riley and Garret has gotten emotionally brutal as Ember finally makes a decision between the two guys and it hurt. Both for the reader and the characters involved. I really love both riley and Garret which makes the decision all that more painful.
Overall, Legion was epic. OMG, this series just gets better and better. I loved it. The story was great, the characters were great and there was action. We finally learn the reason why Talon is so determined to get Ember back and it is shocking. I mean I was not expecting that, whoa. Julie Kagawa is such an amazing author and Talon is my favorite of the series I’ve read of hers. I am so eager for the final book and at the same time so sad since it’s the final book of the series.

Gosh I thoroughly enjoyed that one. I enjoyed it so much I just said gosh. Blimey!
I've been following this series from the start and it has just gotten better and better with every book - I'm kind of quite sad that book 5 will be the finale I believe because I've been so engaged with Ember and Riley and all the rest, in a world where Dragons live among us disguised as humans and a war rages between Talon (the dragon hierarchy and a shadowy group if ever there was one) and St George (of the Dragon, obviously, and not exactly pure of heart themselves)
Julie Kagawa has built a beautifully layered world into the Talon series, with some memorable characters and manages to give you an adrenalin hit and an emotional tug on the heartstrings every time. The more you fall in love with the characters the harder she hits you - throwing everything and the kitchen sink at them and keeping you on the edge of your seat. After the cliffhanger of the previous book (and if you are looking for salvation in this review sorry you'll have to wait and read to see how that pans out) I was ready for high drama and got exactly that. As Talon's dastardly plans start to come into the light and Ember faces her brother head on, don't expect a walk in the park, you are going to be on the rollercoaster.
I have a love/hate relationship with Dante, a love/love relationship with Riley and stagger between adoring Ember and wanting to slap her - its great when a fantasy story can really immerse you into it to the level that you believe it all while you are there - I genuinely feel that perhaps Dragons are a thing for at least a few hours after finishing these.
Overall a really terrific addition to the Talon saga - and after the end of THIS book I am genuinely on tenterhooks waiting for the finale - will the good guys win out in the end? Who exactly ARE the good guys? Brilliant. Total utter escapism and all beautifully written and plotted.
Bring it on!

Well shit. This was easily the best book in the series thus far. Action abound, plot development, larger-than-life antagonists revealed, and scenes of hilarious ingenuity courtesy of Jade the Eastern dragon.
Do I love this series yet? No. This is still a slightly-above mediocre story for me, but it's getting a LOT better. Garret, Wes, and Dante are still my favorite characters, although Tristan NEEDS more time in the spotlight as well as Jade. I still can't really stand Ember, but she's learning. It is taking her an entire age and a half to do so, but she's getting there.
The fact that she finally made her fucking decision regarding the "love of her life" sure didn't hurt. And the fact that it was MY BOY makes it even better.
I'm also really happy that Dante is, you know, an actual baddie. Kagawa could have gone the bland and predictable route and made him an anti-hero who eventually joined with Ember and Riley's cause, but NO. He is SET in his ways, and he's spilling a ton of blood to get what he wants. I applaud true baddies in this book.
We also get to see mother hen Riley with all of the hatchlings from his underground joined under one roof. He and Wes have worked so hard to save these dragons, and it's nice to see how he legitimately cares for them all.
Moving on to the grand finale. Inferno better get that rating up above 3.5/5. And Dante better not fucking die.

First off I got to admit after the last book I was a little scared to read this one.
Then I got over it because I told Chelsea ❤Peril Please❤ that I wasn't gonna read it tell she did, and when she did she told me there was nothing to worry about. So yeah!

Oh my what a way to continue this series and with only one book to go it's certainly going to be a humdinger of an ending! This begins right as the last book Soldier ended with Garret bleeding out his life's blood after a cowardly attack. Ember is even more determined to take down Talon but she's definitely caught between a rock and a hard place as her twin Dante seems to have become her enemy. Those of St. George who hunt the Dragons are so blinkered that they can't or won't acknowledge that Rogues such as Ember and Riley could be allies and speaking of allies perhaps it's time to reevaluate old enemies!
Finally with this instalment we find out what the grand master plan of Talon really is and when it comes to Ember it's truly jaw dropping. As if that wasn't enough for the author to throw at us there's the forces that Talon have been gathering ready to finally crush St. George and the humans and chilling is the only word that springs to mind. I'm truly enjoying all the action and twists but do question why yet again in a YA series we have to have a triangle thrust at us? There's a resolution of sorts here but I can't help but think it wasn't really necessary. Still if you want a story that's inventive and gets your heart pounding then this series is certainly up for the job!

One more book left. I'm sitting at the edge of my seat. Yikes. Where's my popcorn?
Legion was so freaking good. We, of course, still have the same people and the same mission. Unfortunately, there's still talk and hints about this damn love triangle between Ember, Garret, and Riley. You'd think that I would eventually go along with it all.. but that isn't going to happen.
Luckily for me, these guys are growing so much throughout this series. Ember is becoming more likable to me somehow. Especially since she is finally taking responsibility for things now and knowing that her decisions can hurt people, even loved ones. Then there's Garret and Riley and honestly they haven't changed that much in my mind. I mean, they do seem to be liking each other's presence and such. Which could be a good thing if this horrible love triangle keeps happening.
I'm not sure what the heck is going to go down in the next book but I am pumped for it all!

What can I say...
Even though I thought the middle part of this book was a bit... boring and not quite my cup of tea, the ending more than made up for that!
I'm just trash for this series and you better believe that Inferno is on its way to me, so I can finish this story!

Oh, this series...it kills me and not in the good way.
Now you're probably thinking 'But Alexandra! Why did you give it 4 stars then??'
Here's Why
1) Honestly, no book in this series could possibly be worse than the garbage tornado that was Rogue.
2) Riley gets schooled by not one, not two, but THREE exasperated lady dragons! Yes! Put that bitch ass mofo in his place.
3) Jade is back! I love her so much partly because of point 2, but also she's just an all-around badass. Fighting hard and taking names all while appearing as a small, soft-spoken Chinese woman. (Stereotypical, I know, and I'm not too thrilled about it either.) I really want to see more of the eastern dragons in the final book.
4) The god awful love triangle (that should never have existed in the first place) is finally resolved (unless Kagawa decides to throw a wrench in things during the finale, in which case I will be very pissed). I'm obviously a Garret fan.
5) And finally, this book didn't end with something crappy happening to Garret! He didn't get heckin' arrested! He didn't get rejected and stomp off across the pond! He didn't get shot in the back bleeding out in the middle of the desert! My sweet child. My son with a gun. Perfect cinnamon roll boy. I will protect him. I love him.

"Man kann sich nicht bis über beide Ohren in einen Drachen verlieben und erwarten, dass alles normal abläuft."
Nein, normal ist es wirklich nicht, was Ember erlebt, aber es ist spannend, faszinierend und toll geschrieben! Und wie zur Hölle soll ich jetzt warten, bis ich den letzten Band endlich in die Finger kriege?! Mir brennen Fragen und Vermutungen unter den Fingernägeln!!!

Spannend deel, maar het was veel herhaling. Ze slaan op de vlucht, vechten wat, worden gepakt, proberen te ontsnappen, ontdekken weer wat heftigs en slaan weer op de vlucht... Daarbij vind ik de keuzes van Kagawa heel voorzichtig, ze mag best wat meer lef hebben en de lezer flink pijn doen! Mijn recensie verschijnt op Fantasywereld. Ik ben benieuwd naar het slotdeel, maar vond dit boek een tussendeel met weinig toevoeging aan de hele serie.

A dispetto dei contenuti, devo ammettere che come lettura è stata piacevole, di routine. Magari è stata leggermente demolita dalla prevedibilità e dal cazzius di triangolo amoroso, ma in fin dei conti non posso dire di essermi annoiata o di aver perso voglia nel leggere.
Il che è già una nota positiva.
Poi, regina tra tutti, c’è Jade.
Oh Jade, mia Jade. Perché non hai più spazio?
Persino Riley abdica per incoronale lei come la “Regina delle Cazzate”. Il che è un tutto dire.
Altra nota positiva è stata la parte finale. Certo, poteva essere ampliata, ma le battaglie finali hanno sempre un loro fascino, specialmente se i nostri eroi rischiano di perire drasticamente in un quarto di secondo.
E ora passiamo alle note dolenti.

Come detto prima, il libro è di una prevedibilità assurda.
Già nel precedente avevo capito l’andazzo e immaginato varie teorie che, alla fine, si sono avverate. Eccetto per l’incrocio umano. Dato che Dante e Ember son speciali, avevo ipotizzato che la loro cara madre si fosse accoppiata con un umano per un qualche esperimento scientifico, ma nada. E così se ne va la spiegazione per cui Ember è mestruata.
Ma, in tutto sto disagio, devo ammettere che non avevo previsto la riscrittura della personalità. Il fatto che fossero cloni era palese dati gli sviluppi della storia, ma non immaginavo che la vecchia avrebbe voluto abitare nel corpo di Ember.
Brrr…. Brividi.
Continuiamo poi col dettaglio che più fa porconare i miei neuroni.

E basta, avete rotto la minkia sinceramente.
Non mi faccio problemi a dire che all’inizio speravo nella morte di Garrett. Per carità, non mi dispiace come personaggio, ma sarebbe stato un risvolto così diverso dal solitoooooooooo… e invece no. Il triangolo continua finché Ember ha una visione da mestruata con il proprio drago interiore che… ama anche lui l’umano.

Ah, ho letto troppi libri per cascarci.
Almeno Ember ha preso una decisione. Anche se, dai… Alla fine si sa come andrà a finire. Perché ormai c’è la moda del far inzuppare il biscotto a tutti per il cazzius di FANSERVICE!
Sì, scusate, ma la penso così. Sia con Will/Tessa/Jem o Alyssa/Morpheus/Jeb… è solo puro fan service. E la cosa mi fa incazzare.
Detto questo vediamo nel dettaglio le pagelle dei personaggi.
Ember: 5 – la Mestruata
In questo libro è stata un po’ irritante e poco utile. Viene finalmente “svelato” il motivo per cui Talon la vuole così disperatamente, ma l’unica cosa a cui lei riesce a pensare è il cazzius. Diventa pappa e ciccia con Garrett e guai se ti becca a fissarlo perché ti sbrana la faccia senza pensarci due volte. Alterna poi momenti di disperazione profonda quando capisce di aver spezzato il cuoricino di Cobalt, ma tanto lei è a posto, quindi chissene.
Garreth: 6 – il Giovanni Neve
Non sa nulla, resuscita miracolosamente grazie al sangue di Cobalt, cerca di far riappacificare due fronti opposti e in perenne guerra tra loro, deve vedersela con dei draghi, la sua prima ragazza ha i capelli rossi e l’indole selvatica… A quando la vacanza alla Barriera? No, ok. Scherzi a parte Garrett si dimostra essenziale ormai. Essenziale per far finire il triangolo, essenziale per salvare almeno una roccaforte di San Giorgio, essenziale per la trama… Ma tanta perfezione un po’ stona e noi lo sappiamo.
Riley: 7 - il Friendzonato
Andiamo, ci siamo tutti rimasti male per lui. E chi dice il contrario è senza cuore.
Jade: 9 – la Queen
Oh, mia regina. Ti prego di apparire più spesso.
Wes: 7 – il Mai Ripagato
Inutile dirlo, senza di lui non ci sarebbe storia. Eppure nessuno gli ha mai regalato un castello.
Mist: 7 – la New Entry
Bisogna dirlo… mi ha stupita. E in meglio persino. Ok che mi aspetto un bell’oggetto contundente su per un delicato orifizio prima o poi, ma per il momento è una carta da giocare. Ho già qualche idea su chi sia il suo “capo”, ma sono curiosa di vedere come si svilupperà il suo personaggio nel prossimo libro. E no, niente love story con Colbalt, per carità divina. Ci manca solo questa.
Dante: 8 – il Sadico
E niente. Dante è dalla parte dei cattivi. Ed è un cattivo con i fiocchi. È infido, sadico, senza scrupoli, eppure è ancora protettivo nei confronti della sorella… infatti quando la vede sul campo da battaglia decide di giocare il suo asso nella manica per sterminarli tutti. Amore lui. Scherzi a parte non mi suscita empatia come personaggio, ma almeno è coerente con se stesso. Ho apprezzato anche i suoi flashback che hanno allargato di molto il suo background.
Mamma pu…: ???
Posso dire che per essere un drago millenario che ha costruito una società dal nulla mi pare troppo poco sviluppata e ingenua. Cioè, se i tuoi sottoposti sono dei coglioni, pensaci da sola, no? Mi stupisco che sia ancora viva a sto punto.
Comparse speciali: TRISTAN NON DEVE MORIRE!
Considerazioni finali: devo dire che è un libro abbastanza moscio ed essendo quasi arrivati alla fine mi aspettavo qual cosina di più. Per quanto sia comunque una gradevole lettura, mi aspetto un bel finale col botto nel prossimo e ultimo romanzo.

Legion by Julie Kagawa is book four in the Talon series and if you are at all interested in dragons, romance, and danger you should definitely check this series out. I had been waiting (what seemed like FOREVER) for this book since I closed the cover on book three and was so excited to jump into this world again. If you haven’t read the other books yet, you may want to hold off on reading this book. I can’t guarantee I won’t spoil something from the prior books.
Legion picks up right where Soldier left off which means they are trying to save Garret from bleeding to death. To get him to a safe place, the group ends up doing a transfusion with the only blood that is a match…Riley’s. This definitely has some downstream impacts but for now, it gives Riley and Ember enough time to get him to a place where they are not in danger from The Order but also to heal.
While that is happening, Talon still has plans and they aren’t giving up on bringing Ember back into the fold, no matter what. I’m not going to give anything away on this part of the story but we find out that Ember has a purpose and Dante, while he has a pretty big role in getting her where Talon needs her, has no clue what they are up to and planning for her. Also, Dante makes me so angry. He sees his work for Talon as something that will grant him freedom and I support his motive but the fact that he is willing to do anything to get that freedom is disturbing. That includes selling out his twin sister and leading an initiative that includes hatchlings that were bred strictly for war/fighting.
The relationship between Ember and Garret does progress in this book and I am glad that Ember finally told Riley that she chooses Garret and she doesn’t want him to wait for her. The fact that he was just hanging out on the sidelines for Garret to go away just didn’t feel right and while I’ve always liked Garret more, I also didn’t think that was fair to Riley at all. Tied into this, is Ember realizing she has been fighting both her human side and her dragon side. Ember finally comes to terms with both by realizing she is both and while she can’t fight her instinct, it doesn’t have to define her. I liked seeing this growth in her character.
As this story moves forward, we get a bit more action and background story. Not only do we learn more about Ember and Dante’s origins but we also learn more about the plans Talon has to attack and destroy The Order. They also happen to have a full list of Riley’s safe houses which puts all of the Rogues in danger. As the group learns more about the plans, they decide to take some dangerous steps to come together to fight Talon. First, Gabriel needs to warn The Order and when he does, he also makes the decision to fight with them and the Rogues decide they need to join in the fight.
There are so many things that happen in this book that I can’t talk about all of it. I also don’t want to ruin any bit of the story for you so other than telling you that this series continues to keep my interest and even surprise me at times, I can’t say much more. If you like Kagawa’s other books, definitely check the Talon series out. I am looking forward to finding out what happens next with these characters and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!

Legion is the fourth installment in Julie Kagawa's Talon series. Legion literally picks up where Soldier left off. When I say literally, I mean that if you remember how Soldier ended, then you know how this story begins. Things look extremely bleak for one of our heroes. He's defeated the sanctimonious Patriarch of St. George in a showdown, but suffered a horrifying injury in the process. Ember and her allies tried hard to break the alliance that was revealed between Talon and St. George's.

When I say literally, I mean that if you remember how Soldier ended, then you know how this story begins. Things look extremely bleak for one of our heroes. He's defeated the sanctimonious Patriarch of St. George in a showdown, but suffered a horrifying injury in the process. Ember and her allies tried hard to break the alliance that was revealed between Talon and St. George's.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Things are starting to really come together. And the 'secondary' big battle has happened. You know the one that gets everyone all sure they are going to die but its not the BIG battle. That comes in the last book, I'm sure.

Die deutschen Cover sind doch wunderschön! Das Motiv ist immer das Selbe, nur in anderen Farben und alle Bücher sehen einzeln toll aus - aber alle Bücher zusammen sind noch eine Klasse höher. Ich bin sehr gespannt, wie der heyne-Verlag das Cover des fünften Bandes gestalten wird.
Wenn ich mir neben den deutschen Covern der Reihe dann die englischen anschaue, sehe ich einen himmelweiten Unterschied. Ich würde niemals denken, dass sich hinter diesen Covern die Selbe geschichte verbirgt. Während der heyne-Verlag die Schönheit der Drachen auf die Cover bringt, sieht man in den englischen Covern die Brutalität des Kampfes zwischen Talon, den Georgskriegern und den Einzelgängern. Auch diese Gestaltung finde ich aber genial!
Gleich nachdem das Buch angekommen ist, habe ich mit dem Lesen angefangen, da ich es seit dem beenden von Band drei nicht erwarten konnte, die Fortsetzung in den Händen zu halten.
Nach deinem Kapitel über Dante wird sofort an die Ereignisse des vorherigen Bandes angeknüpft und es geht nahtlos weiter. Obwohl die Situation alles andere als lustig ist, schafft Julie Kagawa durch den Charakter von Riley, dem Leser ein kleines Lächeln ins Gesicht zu zaubern.
An dieser Stelle möchte ich gleich etwas zu Riley und einigen anderen Charakteren sagen.
Ohne Riley wäre die gesamte Geschichte um Talon etwas völlig anderes. Denn vor allem er ist es, der mit einem seiner Sprüche brenzlige Situationen auflockern kann. Obwohl es wahrscheinlich nicht witzig gemeint ist, finde ich Rileys Bezeichnung für Garret, die sich wie ein roter Faden durch die Bücher zieht, überaus witzig, sein persönlicher Kosename lautet "Heiliger Georg".
Auch das Verhältnis zu Wes finde ich sehr gelungen eingebaut, genauso wie Wes´Versuche, alle von riskanten Aktionen abzuhalten.
Mir gefällt auch die Entwicklung von Ember sehr gut. Man merkt deutlich, wie sie von Band zu Band erwachsener wird und auch nicht mehr ganz so kopflos durch die Gegend rennt wie noch in Band eins.
Was jedoch aus Dante geworden ist, finde ich sehr unschön, aber auch wirklich authentisch.
Nachdem mir der dritte Band der Reihe sehr gut gefallen hat, hatte ich wieder große Erwartungen an "Talon - Drachenblut" und diese wurden sogar noch übertroffen. So begeistert ich von Band drei war, der vierte ist in meinen Augen fast noch besser als der erste Teil der Reihe.
Die Autorin schafft es, eine unglaubliche Spannung während all der 512 Seiten zu halten und diese an den passenden Stellen auch noch zu steigern. Wieder gibt es heiße Gefechte und spektakuläre Manöver von Ember & Co, ebenso einige unerwartete Wendungen.
Die Entwicklungen bei Talon werden dem Leser erst in diesem Band in größerem Ausmaß bewusst und man fragt sich unweigerlich, wie jetzt alles enden wird.
Auch dieser Teil wird von mehreren Personen abwechselnd aus der Ich-Perspektive geschrieben, was dem Leser ermöglicht, alle Gedanken und Gefühle zu verstehen.
Alles kurz und knackig: ich bin absolut begeistert von diesem Band und vergebe 5 Sterne.

July 26, 2016Honestly, "the Soldier" has the deepest soul of all the characters in this series and as much as I appreciate non-happy endings (I really do, especially where self-centered, irrational protagonists are concerned) Garrett's past still has mysteries to unlock, despite all the illumination in the last chapters of "Soldier". One question I must have an answer for: was one of Garret's parents a dragon? Maybe a 2nd because if so, wouldn't a pheonix be a feasible (awesome and rare) crossbreed, between dragon and human?? Just saying. Also - when do we get to meet a wizard? Or, get some background on the "magic" utilized in many applications throughout the series.

This book was amazing! Definitely had my heart pumping! There were times I was yelling at characters, and times I had to contain the urge to throw the book!

Oh. My. God. This book was so, so good.
If people had asked me how I liked the series when I was reading the first book, I would have shrugged and said that it was alright but nothing outstandingly special. All typical elements of the YA genre could be found: a love triangle, naïve teenagers, a love relation between the offspring of sworn enemies. As I said, all read before, all familiar. However, the ending of Talon was good enough for me to continue the series; so I read the two other books Rogue and Soldier. And I am so glad I did. The story got better and better— to a point I would describe it as absolutely amazing. Legion was, in my opinion, the best book in the series so far and deserves my 5 stars in every respect.
Characters
The character development in this series is crazy. I didn’t even realize how much Ember had matured in the course of the story. Suddenly, it is not a carefree naïve teenager that tells the story, but a hardened brave dragon. In Legion, Ember comes to know more about herself and discovers what she wants to be and who she really is. She (finally) takes responsibility and is brave enough to close doors that need to be closed; even though it constitutes hurting the people she loves. Don’t get me wrong, it broke my heart to read her do that, but I realized that it was necessary.
Garret and Riley, however, don’t change that much from the previous books. Riley is still the sassy, strong leader of the underground and Garrett is still the swoon worthy soldier we encountered earlier in the story, even though he got an additional “power”. What I liked in Legion, was, that the both boys finally found their way to each other. I really liked seeing them become friends, maybe even good friends, if not best friends.
And I absolutely adored Jade, the Chinese dragon. Ever since she first appeared in Soldier, I fell in love with her. Every scene the adult dragon was involved in got me laughing out loud or raising my hands with a ‘Yay, Jade!’ .
However, I hope to see more of Riley’s underground and a certain pretty dragon in ‘Inferno’. I’ve a strong feeling that something is going to happen between Riley and said dragon. Let’s see.
And the bad guys? Well, what to say? Evil as ever, I suppose.
Plot
The story of legion starts exactly where the previous book, Soldier, has ended: with Garrett in the arms of Ember. It then quickly moves from a successful search for answers to imprisonment by a certain party to a devastating final battle. You see: absolutely amazing outline.
Furthermore, the somehow annoying love-triangle is finally severed— once and for all. A HUGE plus for me; that saved me some eye rolls and heaving. Even though I have to admit that it broke my heart to read that passage. Credits to Kagawa for that, I suppose.
In addition, I liked that we got insight into Ember and Dante’s childhood. Although I very much enjoyed the evil- Dante, master of clones, scenes; it was somehow really sad to see the protective caring twin take his place as the powerful offspring of the evil. That’s right; I just called her ‘the evil’. Because that is exactly what this woman is, horrifying, power blinded, pure evil. Each time said dragon appeared it raised the hairs on my arms. Again, credits to Kagawa for that.
In conclusion, this book was outstandingly good and therefore worthy of 5 stars. As a YA book, it does not provide any deep messages or content to think about. But I honestly didn’t care. It was so much fun to read. I loved the characters, the plot and honestly every other thing about this book. What more is there to say? I am super-duper excited for the final book in the series; to see everything come to a conclusion.

Legion brought my favorite dragons and their struggles to a complete new level of epicness! The action and the final fight at the end gave me heart palpitations!
Because of the way Soldier ended, I knew there would be some heartache in Legion, but I had no idea just how much! Ember, however, stepped up and took on all the responsibility she could - while staying true to herself and her beliefs. The plan Talon was putting into action was chilling to say the least, and I really didn't think things would end well. Main feel was probably fear!
After being captured by Talon, Ember learned that her own fate was supposed to be much bleaker than anything she could have ever imagined, and there was a real run against time to try to save her. I am trying my best to be vague enough to not spoil a single little thing, so apart from squealing and saying epic a lot, I'm not sure how to do Legion justice... There were some flashbacks to Ember and Dante's childhood that shed some light on why they behaved the way they did.
The writing is awesome, as always, and there are different points of views so various characters get to explain what is going on - and we did get some kind of understanding of why Dante was doing what he did... If you haven't pre-ordered this already, you should. And if you aren't up to date in the series, you have one more week until Legion hits the shelves. Just get to it so you'll be ready for this action-packed and fast-paced adventure that is positively lethal.
If I was in Talon, I would be the one in charge, I'd be the one calling the shots. I wouldn't have to take pointless exams, listen to humans or worry that my every move was being watched. In Talon, dragons were the bosses, the presidents, the CEOs. If I was a part of the organization, no one would tell me what to do ever again.
I would have to let some things go. I t might be painful, but in the end, it would be worth it. Sacrifice was necessary, but I would be free.

3,5e ster. Het begin vond ik erg langzaam gaan en pakte me minder dan gehoopt, maar later in het boek werd het weer heel leuk en spannend. Het einde daarentegen vond ik niet echt een cliffhanger hebben waardoor ik geen 'OMG' gevoel heb. Maar desondanks heb ik van het boek genoten!

As long as a certain character stays dead, this book will automatically get 5 stars. Excellent writing Ms. Kagawa. Absolutely excellent.
