Oooooh this was close to being a 5 star! If you love shifter-mate reads, definitely check this book (and author) out!

This had almost everything I look for in a shifter-mate read: insta-lust/love, caveman alpha, the concept of "mate", and a loveable heroine. Oh! And motorcycle club plus shifters?! I mean, come on!!

Unfortunately, I had a couple issues with the book that knocked off the final star in my rating.

I hope my shifter loving friends pick this book up and are able to enjoy it!

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

Wounded Wolf is one of those stories that within the first few pages you know you have an amazing story in your hands – then you simply hold on tight for the ride. Maverick is the Sargent at Arms for the Redemption Motorcycle Club in Port May, Oregon. Redemption MC is full of misfit wolf shifters, every single one has a story of why they went lone wolf and why coming under Deacon, the Alpha/President’s wing was the absolutely right thing for them… with one nasty exception, but we’ll get to that loser later on. The name of the club fits them perfectly for they all are seeking some sort of redemption and many have found it within this group.

Maverick is no exception. The club has become his family, his life and not only out of loyalty but also because he sees no other life for himself… ever. You’ll learn more about his background through the story, and it’s not my place to tell you what you should read firsthand. At this point in his life, Mav has given up any other future except the one he lives daily. He considers himself not a whole man and as such feels he cannot protect his pack, his family and certainly not a mate. Maverick is wrong in this and he’s proven that by being able to become the man he is now… but the mind, the emotions feel things differently than others see. His image of himself as less than has driven him to be the man he is today.

Many people would see Prudence as a do-gooder. That’s not what she really is but she does try to see the good in people and situations. She believes in taking care of the earth, that color can always make any situation better and that there is good in anything if you simply look for it. She’s also strong, spunky and not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She first encounters Maverick at a VA hospital while working on her latest project to help others. She’s drawn to this man and doesn’t really understand why but he matters. It’s obvious he wants nothing to do with her by his attitude – but she’s not giving up on him. She can’t and that just adds to the confusion as to why this quietly rude man should mean so much to her.

He never, ever thought he’d find her. After his injury he stopped looking and even wished to never be able to smell her sweet scent or look at her beautiful face. Yet, here she was – his mate.

Wounded Wolf is such a compelling story of sacrifice, love, loyalty and knowing when the fates have handed you the perfect gift. Maverick and Prudence simply work. There is no doubt that they will make a perfectly mated pair. She’s human but that matters not at all. She’s determined to be in Maverick’s life and she’ll keep pushing until he lets her in. His attempt to keep away (for her own good, of course) is slowly melting away in the warmth of this quirky, perfect for him woman. Maverick has a lot to learn about being in a relationship, even if it is fated. His reluctance to keep in touch with Pru while he’s away on club business has terrifying results. That loser from my earlier comments? Yeah, bad boy thinks he’s badder than a wolf who has found his mate and will do anything to protect her.

I truly love this story, these characters – main and secondary – this is a series to follow from the get go and that is Wounded Wolf. I’ve enjoyed all of Moxie North’s stories and it was fun to run into “that cute librarian and her mechanic cougar shifter millionaire husband”… otherwise known as Cougar’s Gift in the Pacific Northwest Cougars series. I have to honestly say I believe this is the best novel that Moxie North has written – that I’ve read, and I think I’ve read them all. I wish I could find the right word to explain it… it’s deeper, it has levels that I didn’t expect yet loved every second of. I expect some world building in the first story of a series, and I certainly got that. All of the MC members feel like extended family (except the loser) and I’m eagerly awaiting their stories – especially Deacon. If anyone deserves a mate and a happy life it’s this man / wolf. I really am looking forward to that possibility.

This has been an unusually long review but I won’t apologize for loving this story. Trust me, this could have been longer. *grin* If you are on the lookout for that next series to get caught up in – it would be this one. If you don’t like motorcycle club books – this isn’t really about the MC although they do play a part. This is shifters, lone wolves who need a family and perhaps a mate is in their future. I believe if you give Wounded Wolf a chance to speak to you that you will discover an amazing couple with a compelling story to tell.

(I have to admit that the cover on this one really kept me thinking of the cover model’s picture every time Maverick’s name was mentioned – perfectly sexy. It certainly wasn’t difficult to see Maverick in my mind’s eye.)

Wounded Wolf by Moxie North is a shifter romance about Maverick Hale, a wolf shifter, who is lost his leg while on his third tour. Instead of returning home, he leaves his old life behind, unable to face his family and pack. Now his new family was the Redemption MC.

Prudence Boyer goes to the VA to bring some joy and kindness to those who may need some in their lives through her knitting club. It is through this that she meets Maverick Hale. From two different worlds, they start off on the wrong foot especially with Maverick acting like a jerk, but neither can deny the connection they share especially when Maverick realizes that Pru is his mate.

I liked these two characters and this story had some great moments between the two that made me smile. Especially with how Pru brings Maverick out of himself. She's bold, and with the encouragement of her friends, she doesn't let Maverick's distance or avoiding her stop her from seeing if there is more between them. For being the human and not the wolf, she is definitely the one doing the pursuing in this one.

I also liked the characters, Deacon and Ranger, and hope Ms. North has stories in store for them as well.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Wounded Wolf and eagerly recommend.

Moxie North is on my favourite author list. This story was such a good read. Loved seeing how Maverick and Prudence sort out their relationship. Maverick was wounded during the war and had part of his leg amputated and for a wolf shifter that is quite a serious injury. He has trained himself to be an enforcer for his wolf pack and the motor cycle club Redemption to which he belongs. Maverick has just met his mate Prudence at the Veterans Rehabilitation Clinic of which he attends to have his prosthetic leg adjusted. He makes Prudence cry as he does not want her to see him as disabled. He thinks Prudence would be better off without him and tries to push her away. Prudence has a sunny disposition but when she gets angry she can let it all out with a passion. Maverick is about to find out just what a perfect match his human mate is. A big thank you to Moxie North for the amazing review copy. Loved it. Highly Recommend this author and her books.

WOUNDED WOLF(Redemption MC #1) by Moxie North

All I can is wow, what a fantastic book. What a great start to a new series. This author has such a great style of writing, and she manages to capture each scene perfectly. This story was so intriguing and captivating, which had me gripped from start to finish. It had a good balance of shifter and MC, that worked so well. The characters were amazing and sweet. I loved that Mav and Pru were so different. There was so much emotion in this story. Mav carried so much anger, regret, sorrow, and guilt around with him, that it was pulling him down. Until he meets Pru, and she brings love, kindness, acceptance, and hope into his life. They made such a great couple, and they were perfect for each other. I absolutely loved this book, and I highly recommend it.

Maverick

Sometimes these shifters are idiots. Always thinking that they know what is best for everyone without actually asking them. I liked Pru and Mav but probably I liked the naughty old ladies at the knit shop the most.

I'll Save You....Even If It's From Yourself!!!

Maverick Hale aka Mav, a Wolf shifter and former military man served his country but after getting severely injured, he decided to shut the door on his past. He pushed his loved ones away but his brothers wouldn't let him.

Maverick joined the Redemption MC as the enforcer of the club, he made sure that all members were protected. Maverick loved his job and new pack. One day his life changed forever when the beautiful, optimistic and sassy Prudence walked into the VA.

Prudence Boyer aka wanted nothing more than to help people heal, she was a natural caretaker. She volunteered at the VA where she met Mav, there was an electrifying attraction between the two.

Mav knew what it was but he was denying it, why would fate play him like that just when he'd completely given up on finding a mate, having cubs and looking forward to a future. He found his ONE.

He tried pushing Pru away but she wasn't letting him have his way, she was persistent, tenacious and much stronger than people thought. Pru wasn't about to lose the man who's name was engraved on her soul.

There was a wolf who tried to separate, Pru and Mav, what that antagonist didn't know was that the bond between the lovebirds was UNBREAKABLE and STRONG.

Loved the two elderly women Pru worked with, Ethel and Claire, they were riots. Especially when they started talking about men and sex. They gave Pru some great advice regarding Mav.

WOUNDED WOLF , the first book in Moxie North's Shifter MC series, REDEMPTION MOTORCYCLE CLUB was heart-wrenching, action packed, on the edge of your seat fantastic. Moxie North did an outstanding job.

It's always a pleasure when characters from the other series are mentioned or make an appearance. Can't wait for the next installment!

Maverick has made some tough choices in his life. Though some of them are unnecessary ones, he fully believes he made the right decision. However, though he won't admit it, he misses his family, his birth pack. He's thankful to the Redemption MC and it's leader Deacon for welcoming him in and giving him a family again, but something is missing in his life and try as he may he's been unable to find it, nor does he think he deserves it, until she bursts into his life in all her colorful glory.

Prudence prefers to live the simple life. She couldn't care less for materialistic things, the things of true value to her are people and helping those in any way she can. When she sees an opportunity to help, she works the situation over in her mind until she discovers a way to contribute, therefore eliminating, or lessening, said issue. Her new cause is to help those with prosthetics feel more comfortable with their new reality. If that means knitting them a "kozy" to cover their prosthesis then that's what she and her friends will do. While trying to get approval for her endeavor she meets him and her world will never be the same.

Maverick and Prudence, two people from highly different backgrounds, immediately feel the attraction, yet for Maverick he believes he's now less than since being injured while serving his country and that he'll never find the woman for him, his mate, and if he does, that she's better off without him. Thankfully he was wrong and despite their different outlooks on almost everything, it's quickly apparent that they're mates and they need each other more than they realize.

However, Maverick is reluctant to accept their destiny as he feels he doesn't deserve Prudence. It doesn't take long before Prudence and her sunny outlook on life breaks down his walls, shining light onto the darkness he didn't realize he was carrying as he'd resigned himself to being alone. But their fight isn't over as Prudence needs to accept not only Maverick's position in the MC and what all that entails, but also his shifter side and Maverick will need to accept that his life is changing, that he deserves happiness and he's the only one that believes he's not whole, and that maybe he made rash decisions when he walked away from his family and their pack. Even after they work through those issues, they still have trouble on the horizon as someone isn't too happy with Maverick and his position in the MC.

Can Maverick keep Prudence safe? Can Prudence accept all sides of Maverick? Will Maverick reach out to his family and make amends for cutting them out of his life? Will he realize that nothing would've stopped his family from loving him? Will Maverick and Prudence get their HEA?

One-click now to start meeting the characters of this new series and follow along as Maverick and Prudence embrace their differences and realize they have the most important thing in common...love.

I feel in love with Maverick and was so happy he got matched up with someone full of an inner sunny deposition like Prudence! Nothing like mixing motorcycle club and yarn club! Moxie did it again and I can't wait to read more. I especially liked the little nods to the Rochons and Libby & Stryker. (I was given this book for free for an honest review)

Moxie North is a very good paranormal romance author and she shows it by writing another AWESOME book. Although this isn’t a Pacific Northwest Bears/Cougars book, the Rochon’s are still mentioned in this book. I love it when authors use characters from previous books. “Wounded Wolf” is a shifter book that deals with an ex-soldier who is dealing with the loss of his leg and trying to find his place in life. The story line is awesome and the characters, major and minor have very important parts in the telling of the story. Moxie grabs your attention at the beginning of the book and holds it till the end of the book. You are so involved in the book that you just don’t want to put it down. This book is recommended for mature readers 18 years of age or older.

Maverick “Mav” Hale served in Afghanatain where he was injured and because he couldn’t explain to them that he was shifter, he lost his leg. Maverick has chosen to leave everything behind including his family and start a new life with the Redemption MC. He is the Sargent at Arms and keeps order in the club, and he actually thinks of himself as a glorified babysitter at times. But he has his own place where he can go to get away and deal with the lost leg on his own. He doesn’t like for anybody to see him without his leg. Then one day when at the VA getting measured for a new leg he comes in contact with the one person who could change everything in his life, Prudence Boyer. Oh, I forgot to mention that she is his mate. Yet, he doesn’t think he is good enough for her since he only has one leg.

Prudence Boyer is her own person, quirks and all. She is vegetarian and lives her life as simply as possible. She believes that life is easier to live if you have color in it. She dresses that way too. Her clothes are very colorful. She belongs to a knitting club that knits for those in need of some love and warmth. The knitting club she belongs too decides to take their work to the VA where Prudence runs into one very cross wolf shifter (she doesn’t know that he is a wolf shifter), Maverick Hale. Though Maverick has told her he doesn’t need her help, Prudence decides to help him anyways. She is going to prove to him that she needs him and he needs her. Or will she? Will Maverick keep pushing Prudence away or will he give in and accept her as his mate? Will Maverick lose Prudence to the fates?

No Spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

I this book we meet Prudence and Maverick. Prudence is more of a flower child determine to help the environment and the people around her one cause at a time. So when she hears about the local VA in her area she believes she and her fellow knitters and sowers can help some how. Little did she know she would meet a man there that would touch her in ways she never thought of. Can she get through to Maverick or will they both be doomed to a loveless life?

Maverick has been through a lot over the last decade. One of those things is the loss of part of one of his legs. Maverick sees himself as less of a man and a wolf now, oh yes he is a wolf shifter. So when his wolf smells his mate he wants Maverick to get her now. Maverick however still doesn't think he is good enough for her and thinks they should leave her alone. Fate has other plans for him though and it seems the more he tries to stay away from his mate the more she is there. Can Maverick really give them both a chance or will he let his insecurities get the better of him?

This is a great story about not only finding a love you can't live without but also showing some of the insight of the thinking of an amputee. This shows not only some of the physical sides of it all but the mental as well how loosing a part of your body whether large or small can affect how you look at the world around you and how you react to others in that world. There are many twist and turns in this book that I want to tell you all about but don't want to ruin any of the surprises for anyone. I will say I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

A very good read again from Ms North.
A bit slow at the beginning to get going due to information overload but well worth reading.
Maverick is a tough loner who is really hiding from his old life and family after losing a leg on his third tour of duty. It damaged something inside him and he has not even seen or spoken to his family to tell them what happened and that he has left the forces.
Prudence is a great character, she thinks softness and bright colours will help the disabled people, in some ways she is right and in others very simple and naive.
Loved what the alpha Deacon was trying to do for lost people with Redemption but he needs to be more careful of who he allows in. Stitch and Myra are prime examples.
Poor Prudence getting hurt like that was not good. If Maverick had not been an idiot and been in contact with her, Pru would not have gone to Redemption as she would have known what was going on. At least he owned up to it being his fault and kicked his own backside, good man.
Loved when his parents turned up and we found out more about Mav.
It was lovely how soft all these people were about Lulu the mascot, it was cute.
Cannot wait to see some of these other tough guys fall over their own paws, Deacon the alpha especially as I believe he has a really soft heart.

Maverick is a wolf shifter.
He served in the military.
He lost his leg while in the military.
He decided to not return to his home pack after his injury.
He lied to his family about the severity of his injury.
He is ashamed to return home and face being rejected.
He has found a new pack of degenerate wolves.
Maverick's new pack is a motorcycle club also.
He rides a motorcycle.
Maverick is an enforcer, but also second in command.

Prudence is an odd duck.
She came from a wealthy family.
She is not a typical rich girl.
She cares about the environment, recycling etc.
She traveled to poverty stricken areas.
She likes to knit.
She dresses like a hippie.
She rides a bicycle.
She likes to help others.

The two meet during a trip to the VA. Maverick needs a new socket for his prosthesis and Pru wanted to volunteer to spread some cheer. Maverick immediately recognized Pru as his mate and he is not having it. He is a wolf shifter and she is human. She sees him without his leg and that makes him feel vulnerable. He feels like he doesn't deserve a mate and he pushes Pru away. But, this human is not losing her man without a fight. Deacon, Maverick's alpha has been trying to get through to him for years, will Pru succeed where he failed?

A wonderful story of loss and redemption (pun intended). Maverick was a three legged wolf. His third tour of duty took more than just his peace of mind. He'd found a home, a misfit pack and MC where he'd earned respect and high ranking. A loner even more than most of the pack, he was totally unprepared for Prudence.

Pru was a bright light for everyone she met him included. He was unwilling to accept her cheer and the instant knowledge that she was more. Much more. Could she wear him down? Did she want to? Oh, yeah she wanted to. The man is the epitome of hot-bad-boy and he was the one who saw more, a side of her most people would never have imagined.

Their romance is hot, touching, and not typical. His claim was more than she was prepared for, but could she resist? I love Moxie North's stories. She always gives unique characters in situations that are not easy to find love and have it flourish. Her men are powerful, her women strong, often feisty and in this case quirky. She can take a pack of loner men, a Motorcycle club, throw in a tiny dog with those big guys dressing her in pink, how could the reader not melt? I sure did.

Another winner from Moxie North, a strong recommend from me. I was provided an ARC for an honest review.

I had been hoping this author would write a new series. This was fantastic! Maverick and Prudence were strong characters and the plot was exceptional.

Maverick is a wounded vet and Sargent at Arms for the Redemption MC gang who happens to be a wolf shifter. Then you have Prudence, a human, extremely colorful and wants nothing more than to help people heal.

One day, while Maverick is at the V.A. getting his prosthetic looked at, his life gets changed forever when he comes face to face with his mate. Even though there was an electrifying attraction between the two he tries pushing Pru away, but she won’t letting him.

There is a full plot in this story that just grabs the reader and pulls you into the story. You will fall in love with the different characters in this story.

WOUNDED WOLF, the first book in Moxie North's Shifter MC series, REDEMPTION MOTORCYCLE CLUB was heart-wrenching, action packed, on the edge of your seat fantastic. Moxie North did an outstanding job and I look forward to the next book in this series. I hope we don't have to wait too long.

Oh my goodness! This book was way more than I expected. Maverick is a hero that's so strong, brave and sexy. He has been through so much from war and lost so much. He thought no one would want him because of his injuries, until he met Pru.
Pru is a good person. She likes helping others. She had an ideal to help vets with her sewing and knitting. Seeing Maverick stopped her in her tracks. There was something special about him. Their first meeting didn't go over well.
Their coming together was intense but sweet at the same time.
But evil lurks in the background waiting for an opportunity to jump in
I love this book and can't wait for the next book from The Redemption Crew.
Amelia got her first catering job, a bridal shower. She's excited and nervous. It's going well until there's a murder. No one really liked the girl because she was evil. What do you do when half the town has a motive. So once again Amelia decides to ask questions.
This was a great quick read. Very enjoyable cozy.
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book." This is the first one of her books (of those I’ve read) where the shifter has a disability. I don’t encounter many PNR stories where the shifters are physically broken on a permanent basis. However, despite this, he is not handicapped by any stretch of the imagination. He is hiding from himself and his perceived weaknesses. Initially, I felt bad for Maverick. However, as soon as he met his mate, I began to have a certain affinity for his character. You don’t really see a “flower child” and a biker together in a story, but somehow, for this one, it works. Her tenacity in the face of dealing with a difficult mate makes you love Prudence even more. I wonder if we’ll get a story for Deacon eventually. I loved this book because as a person with an “invisible disability” sometimes, you just have to take other people’s word for just how strong you are.

Moxie North has done it again, This time she has created a great Redemption Motorcycle Club series starter. This is a story about Maverick who lost his foot in Afghanistan. How do you move on when you are a wolf with only 3 legs? You become the enforcer for the Redemption Motorcycle Club. Prudence travels to a different drum. She is into recycling and rides a Huffy. These two are like night and day. She is cheery, bright out going person who loves bright colors. She visits the VA to help wounded veterans with knitting of fabric aids. Maverick is a wounded grumpy vet, who is under the impression he is only half a man. Will these two get together? Will Mav overcome his thoughts he isn't good enough? This is a great story about overcoming adversity.
I really enjoyed it and give it 5 stars. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I had been hoping this author would write a new series. This was fantastic! Maverick and Prudence were strong characters and the plot was exceptional.

Maverick is ex-military and Sargent at Arms for the Redemption Biker gang. While at the V.A. getting his prosthetic looked at he comes face to face with his mate.

Prudence is human and very colorful. She wants to help the people at the V.A. She has a group that knits and sews and she feels she can help make their lives a little easier with their custom items. She meets a gorgeous man who she does not impressed.

There is a full plot in this story that just engages the reader. It touched my heart to read this story and I know it will touch yours. You fall in love with these characters. I could not put this down.

I look forward to the second book in this series. I hope we don't have to wait too long.

Great surprise this book turned out

I seriously enjoyed this book but was worried on reading how Pru was, with her eco friendly Birkenstock shoe wearing character. It started out where I liked Mav and not Pru, then got frustrated at his self flagellation and really liked her.

The author did a good job keeping them true to their nature though and to me, that was huge. Sometimes a woman is written all strong and then suddenly can't lift a finger in self defense or is written weak, not true to how originally described. That is annoying to me so I was very glad that each character stayed the course. I would definitely read another book by this author and more particularly, this series. Oh, can't forget the sisters! I know there are a couple of gents in secondary characters that would fill that bill nicely, just sayin'. ;)

ARC given for a fair and honest review.

I LOVED this book! It has to be my best read from Moxie!

MC and mix in a wolf? Result!

I loved Maverick and Prudence. Mr gruff meets miss "Hippy" and they so work! Their dynamics flow, the chemistry flows and did I say I LOVE them?

In the supe world, the furry balls of fluff heal quicker than is humans so que the story... Mav, the pack Beta and MC Messenger at Arms is injured in -- he was in the Military. He looses his leg and Wounded Wolf is his journey of how he's adapting to his loss. Then incomes this little ray of sunshine who loves to knit and recycle and the love story begins.

Of course a read would be boring without ups & downs, suspension and drama. Moxie delivers on all!

I hope there is so much more to read from this Club House and the members all look interesting.

Hard headed stubborn loving wolf

Holy cow Moxie , you threw me with this one and I loved it!!!

Maverick is a wounded vet, and a wolf shifter which shouldn't have happened, he won't let anyone in except his brothers in his pack and MC. Then one days at the VA in walks Prudence and her bright colors and citrus smell and Mav knows his world is changed but fights it.
Pru knows she is drawn to Maverick and won't let it slide, going to the clubs place they finally taste each other and he pushes her away but thank goodness she does not give up .
Then one wolf tries to take it all away from Mav and unfortunately the wolf underestimated the love of a wolf and his mate.

This is without a doubt, the best book Moxie has ever written. I have loved all of her books and cannot take anything away from them, but Maverick and Prudence's story is so original and so addictive, I became irritated every time I had to put it down. Maverick thinks himself less of a man, due to losing part of his leg in Afghanistan. Pru is a kind hearted people person who tries to help everyone. She is also pushy and intends to get her man. Such a touching story that will hold your attention every single minute. You could spend 5 times the price for this book and be glad you did after reading it. I simply loved Maverick and Pru and I hope one very lonesome Alpha will get his HEA next. <3

I am so in love with all of Moxie's books. She brings them to life, makes you feel like you are there, seeing it crystal clear. Maverick and Pru's story is amazing. Heartfelt, romantic, crazy and like with many man, wolf are not, frustrating. I loved this book, there are such amazing parts of this book that i can't say becuz I do not want to give it away. I found my self profoundly moved buy this book, way more than I have with any book ever before.

I was gifted this book for a honest review.

Great story!

Moxie has created such wonderfully in depth three dimensional characters that you get drawn into the Redemption MC world and I look forward to more books in the series.

This first book is the story of Maverick, a wounded warrior whose injuries have left him feeling that he is not a man or wolf that deserves love and acceptance, and Prudence, a strong, free spirited woman of who has always done what she can to help others. Fate has brought them together but will they choose to stay?

A well written story that is a steal at 99 cents.

What a interesting and entertaining read it definitely not what I expected in MC book. That saying you know that opposites attract couldn't be any more true in this scenario Maverick the wounded vet fall for the hippie do-gooder Prudence. It started off a bit slow but as the story progressed it got really good. Overall a good read I can't to see what's in store for the other guys in the series. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a well written romance. I enjoyed the story and the characters. You have a wounded wolf shifter who served in the military and has a lot of pain. He tried to hide out but his family and friends won't let him. His club is what keeps him going. She comes in to help and heal him and gives him hope for a future he thought he had lost. Their relationship is well developed and really touching. I very much enjoyed it.

I received a copy in return for a honest review.
