Don't Cry Alone
Beth Ward and Tyler Blacklock share a love they know will last forever. But Beth's mother, Esther, is jealous of the girl and seizes an opportunity to be rid of her daughter. Banished in disgrace from the family home, Beth takes the northbound train and alights at Blackburn, friendless and alone. On this day, Fortune smiles, for Beth is taken in by warm-hearted Maisie Armstrong, a widow with two children. Money is scarce, but love abounds in the cosy house on Larkhill, and Beth is content there to await the birth of her child. But she cannot forget Tyler, and is tormented by the belief that he has betrayed her . . .

Such a tragic story.
So much scheming just to keep two people apart.
Never a dull moment.
A handful of twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end.
Had me engrossed from the get go.
Josephine Cox excels in writing gripping sagas.

I so enjoyed this book. Got frustrated sometimes with the storyline as if only certain people spoke up then lives would have been so much better, but then of cause the book would have been much shorter. Also similar stories and plots to other JC books.
Anyway still a very good read.

A heartrending read
I would recommend this to my friends. Sometimes there isv a little too much background description. But a really good storyline.

A very readable book with a. Well told story.
I gave this book 3 stars as,although it was well told,, it wasn't very original. But a nice storyline with a happy ending.

Another great read which I've come to expect from Josephine Cox books, I'm always kept enthralled right to the last page.

Just another super story from Josephine.
The chapters where a bit long though, had to stop half way through some of them, just to rest my eyes 👀

Good read
I loved this book, it had a bit of everything in it. We have Beth so cruelly treated by her mother, her father a quiet man very dominated by his wife but he loved his daughter so much. Her brother Ben, turns into a nasty drunkard and a gambler. Beth's love Tyler Blackstock is so cruelly treated their story is heartbreaking. I couldn't put it down the author's work grabbed me and had me routing for the poor young couple. I would highly recommend this book to all. Heartwarming story

It's frustrating!
I wanted to stop reading this because I didn't like where it was going, trying to break up Tyler and Beth, well enough already. Esther the mother, Ben the brother, co-workers, the land lady's daughter, all scheming, lying and backstabbing, was getting on my nerves. I guess I get too involved in the main characters of a good read, first time reading this author, will try another book & see how it goes lol!

The story line is good but it is way too long and predictable.
Beth and Tyler are from vastly different backgrounds, but fall in love and she becomes pregnant.
Her parents throw her out and Beth's mother blackens Tyler's reputation to prevent him from locally getting work.
He leaves to find work, but promises to return for Beth.

Read this book while on holiday and couldn't put it down! I even found myself getting emotional near the end of the book as I found it so well written it made me really feel for the characters involved.

For those who love historical fictions. Set in 1880s, you will see how different the lives were but same in emotions as of this era. A book that one can read comfortable curled up under the blankets, flipping through each pages and living, feeling the lives of people far before.

Touches every emotion
I love Josephine Cox’s books. She takes you through every emotion known to man, every heartbreak and betrayal. When everything is dark and it seems as though nothing can put it right there is an inkling of light at the end of the tunnel.

Don't Cry Alone was a good read but not the best I've read by Josephine Cox.
Usually a real page turner that I struggle to put down, this book was not the same. Too much description for me with characters not speaking up.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Such sadness and desperately reading to see if Beth finds her man. A very good read, looked forward to picking up my book. Sad that's it's finished, was a bit disappointed with the ending, didnt seem to be enough of it but it was a happy ending.

Would recommend to friends great for reading curled up on sofa on a dark evening. Great storytelling as you get lost in the characters.
