Life’s been a tough road for Jade. Drunk and abusive parents made her childhood hell, and her adult life’s been a long, tiring struggle against debt. When she joined the Azilian cult, she mostly wanted a little money to help her financial situation, but after witnessing the horrors of the group, she risked her own life to help the mate of a hybrid. Now living with the hybrids, she’s unsure of her place in the world. It doesn’t help that many of them don’t trust her and think she’s an Azilian spy. Sergius knows that Jade is the one for him, the woman that completes him, but nothing in the life of a hybrid is easy. The woman is resistant to the idea of a relationship, and evidence she has strange powers is beginning to make some of the other hybrids nervous about the outsider. Pursuing Jade might be challenge enough, but when her unusual abilities open her to a deadly risk, even the strength of a hybrid might not be enough to save her.
Madison currently lives with her husband and two children in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix, Arizona. After leaving the frozen tundra of the north, Madison was more surprised than anyone with how much she has enjoyed living in the desert. Seeing as she had stated on more than one occasion how much she hated the heat, it was an odd move. But it seemed her hatred for sub-zero temps and ice, or really the things that ice could do, won out in the end. When she’s not writing, she’s enjoying time with her family. Madison and her family frequent festivals in the area, as well as local cultural events, and spend time with family in the area. In the summer she is most likely to be found in the pool with the family and in the winter by the fireplace. Since both her children are autistic, days can be a little chaotic but with her husband beside her, there’s nothing she can’t handle. Luckily he is also an author and able to share in all the activities (and chores) special needs kids require. Madison has a full schedule of releases planned for 2014 listed and updated on her blog: http://madisonstevens.blogspot.com/ Newsletter Sign-up: http://eepurl.com/OX9r5
I love the story... But the grammatical errors are killing me. Its like a bad stutter at the worst possible moment. This will not keep me from reading on... But at one point Jade was switched out with Jenna. It takes a couple of minutes for my brain to sort that out. Please have a couple of people proofread the books before publishing.
"There was nothing quite as sexy as a thoughtful man."
This done in one story spins out of the previous story, so while it would probably stand alright on its own, I'm really glad I had just read Lucas and Taylor's tale where we first met Jade.
Sergius was a hybrid on a mission, until Jade collapsed in his arms and priorities shifted.
Jade has never really had dependable people she could count on, so being taken in by this group of hybrids has her a bit off-kilter and waiting for the other shoe to drop.
As far as the overarching arc of this series, it is still early, and each story thus far has been giving information and a few crumbs/puzzle pieces, the focus thus far feeling more on world building than pushing the arc forward by strides. That being said, it is becoming a richer world with each story, with the Azilians gradually coming into sharper focus.
I absolutely loved this book! We are finally delving into the “mystery” that surrounds our hybrids. I am so excited that our author has taken that leap to get us going in the right direction. Don’t get me wrong I love my hybrids and their vestals, but I want to know WHO they are and WHAT they can do. This book cracked thelid open on that and now I can’t wait to read the next book.
Sergius did not fight his connection to Jade. He made sure he was near and waited for his chance to get near. As soon as he could be made sure to keep her close. A new strange twist is worrisome. There is so much they don't know. Why don't the Azilians just help the hybrids? Ok keep them coming. Marcus is due for a kick in the heart.
I also love this author. So far I've read most of her work and I just adore the way she writes and the stories in her head. And I'm happy she is sharing them with us.
I can't wait to read more of his series, especially about Marcus! It's going to be a pleasure to watch him fall!!
