The job seemed simple enough. Go undercover at a real estate company and run surveillance. But when Spencer finds evidence of a drug lab and the trail leads to someone he trusts, he starts to question everything. He develops a new mantra: Trust no one—not the field agents, not his friends, not even his own visions.

When trouble follows Spencer on a training mission to the Alaskan wilderness, he quickly realizes that doing things alone is a bad plan. If he’s going to survive this threat, he’s going to have to work together with his team, otherwise this latest training mission might leave him M.I.A.

My word, this book was yet another epic read. Once again, I was captivated by the first line and drawn into the story all the way.

More stunning character development came out in this one, and it was very well done. Spencer has been growing and learning slowly, and he makes mistakes like any human does. It makes him a very real and relatable main character.
I was very pleased that in this book several other side characters had some great scenes that really brought out more of their character that we hadn't had a chance to see before.

The pace might've been a little less than previous books, but only by a smidgen, and it was absolutely amazing. From drug smugglers to kidnappers, Spencer never fails to have an interesting life. The tension throughout the whole story keeps me turning pages into the early hours of the morning.

The unique voice really pulls me in so I'm experiencing the story through Spencer's eyes. I love the style and just how realistic the voice is.

Content-wise: basically it's clean. There is some low-level violence, but nothing gruesome.

Overall, I absolutely recommend this book to action/spy-lovers (over 13) and I need the next book asap. (Please, it must be published soon. *faints*)

This is the fifth installment (the third full novel, with two novellas that fit between the novels) of Jill Williamson's excellent Teen Challenge series, and if you want exciting young adult action, you'll love this series overall and this book in particular.

Can you read this book out of order and enjoy it without feeling lost? Yes, thanks to Jill giving an update of what happened so far at the beginning of the book. But I recommend reading them in order because there is too much to be missed in those short updates. At the time I'm writing this review, the final novel has been released, and you can get this series as a full set if you haven't read any of them yet.

You like plot twists? You've got plot twists! Some of them make this a satisfying and thrilling novel, and some affect the big story which will have reverberations in the next novel. (I could tell you about them, but 1) that would be a spoiler, and 2) I would have to kill you.) You want three-dimensional characters? You have them as well.

In case you can't guess from the series name, this is Christian fiction. It deals with a Christian youth group that is involved in spy work, so of course this is written from a Christian world-view with elements of the Christian faith throughout this story and series. Should that scare you off? No. It's not at all preachy, and the characters and situations are realistic.

Would I recommend you read this book? If you enjoyed the other four parts in the series, absolutely. If you're just getting started, I highly recommend you start with the New Recruit and work your way through.

Yaayyy! finished book three! I loved it, as i loved the other books! Gonna read the LAST one now!
okay so um there are a few things in this book, like abuse and dating, also there are some things that i was not okay with, and things I should probably point out if anyone ever plans to read this...
Sex:
1. A characters girlfriend was snuck into his house and hinted sex, it left it at her playing with the fabric of his shirt, but then ended the chapter with her telling him she'll change his mind about something by doing that.
2. Spencer's girlfriend was trying to go further by getting on him while they were alone in a car, after going to a prom, but he stopped her and she ended up breaking up with him.
-Spencer and his girlfriend kiss quite often.
-Spencer's friend asks "What happened in there?" after a group of them find the two curled up inside a small space, sleeping. Spencer then explains to him that nothing happened, but the friend starts joking around about it.
Violence:
Spencer's girlfriend gets abused by her father and he finds her in her house injured. Spencer also attacks the father for hurting her and leaves him bloody and bruised.
Language:
-Spencer is still a new Christian so it mentions him cursing but doesn't really tell you what he says.
He almost finishes a phrase by saying "son of a-" but doesn't say the last part.
-He also uses the phrase "Mother pus buckets".
Drugs:
-Spencer's girlfriend's father is an alcoholic, and is almost always drunk, he has to go to a place to help him overcome his drinking.
So that is my review on this book, so yeah! 😉

Notes for myself to read before the next book comes out:
Evil lady Anya tries to kidnap Spencer once again. She goes through the guy pretending to be Spencer's father. He has the girl who's Nick's girlfriend spying on Spencer. They are distributing the Jolt drugs through vending machines. Spencer gets away from them. His uncle Kimbal is somehow involved and is hiding something, tries to destroy evidence that Spencer uncovered, and the bad guy calls Kimbal by a different name Liam. Spencer and girlfriend become official at end of book.

Nick's sister is held captive by bad guys to force Nick to help them and his pastor father insists Nick go along with it and try to get Spencer kidnapped by the bad guys.

Another great read that I may or may not have stayed up late into the night devouring. I couldn't help but wonder where some of Spencer's older friends went. I find it hard to believe he lost contact completely. Otherwise, this was a fun, though not deep, book that I definitely recommend for teens or younger.

Broken Trust
Mission League #3
By Jill Williamson

Spencer Garmond is hoping to recover from his torn ACL in time for his senior year of HS basketball in hopes that he can still get a scholarship. But he's got other issues to deal with - like why he's of such interest to the people tracking him, whether he'll blow it with Grace, his long-strained non-friendship with Nick, and these dreams that he keeps having. All Spencer wants is to be a normal teenager but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

With preparation for their summer assignment ~ Outdoor Survival Training in Alaska ~ and Occupational Training Missions this was looking to be a busy summer. And Spencer has his own personal investigation that he's pursuing, one that focused on the Jolt movie series. And now that Nick's seeing one of the actresses from the movies Spencer is even more motivated.

But someone is about to betray the trust of Spencer and the Mission League and unless they can do some fast thinking, relying on their training the Mission League may lose one or more of their own. But when you've been betrayed who do you trust? Spencer is about to learn that there is only One in whom one can trust in.

This is the third book in the series and with references to previous missions it is helpful to read the series in order though one can follow along fairly easily if you haven't read them. Tweens and teens will enjoy this book. The chapters are presented as if they are filed reports so one has a basic timeline understanding of the book. This is action and adventure that will keep the attention of the reader as the climatic conclusion is reached.

I was provided a ARC copy of this book by the author with no expectation of a review positive or otherwise. All opinions expressed are my own.

OH MY GOSH GUYS this book was so fun! And it never got boring, which was amazing.
One super cool this about this series is that all of it (except for like two chapters) is from the POV of a teenage boy and the way Jill writes him is just awesome. I don't know how, but Jill cracked the secret of writing realistic guys.
Also this book is H I L A R I O U S. All of the Mission League books are. And the whole idea of this series is soooo cool.
Also Grace. and Spencer. they are just so good together and they make me happy.
Last time I reviewed one of Jill's books I mentioned this, but I'm going to say it again. Her worlds, her world building, her settings--they feel real. So real. I feel so comfortable in them and it's crazy awesome.
ALSO I HAVE TO WAIT A LONG TIME FOR THE NEXT BOOK. NO NO NO NO NO NO I DON'T WANT TO WAIT
on the other hand, I don't want this series to end!! It's definitely a favorite.
