The excellent story of Gaw'yn the dark-elf assassin continues. Gaw'yn has taken his romantic interest, Dyfeline, and fled the machinations of the Dark Elves. But they are captured by a half-elf serving La'shaa's Ghoulish Horde. In return for his life, she hires Gaw'yn for a contract. But when Dyfeline is turned into a ghoul, Gaw'yn has to find a cure and avoid his former masters of the Citadel, all while double-crossing La'shaa's minion.
Great action-packed story. Gaw'yn is a great character and a personal favorite of mine. While the story was excellent, if I had one minor quibble, it would be that this art isn't up to the par of some of the issues. It's quite good, but just not excellent. I know it sounds, and likely is, petty. But such is the high quality of this comic that my expectations have been raised. Highly recommended to any fantasy fan.
Er..side note" I have the actual comic. Not the goddamn Kindle edition. I don't have a Kindle. I like books. Just wanted people to know.
The story is great, as the entire storyline of Dark Elf assassin Gaw'yn. As it's the continuation of Elves Vol. 10: Dark Elf, Black Heart, Gaw'yn and Dyfeline are fleeing. She still hates him for killing her family, although he saved her life. They become prisoners of a woman pirate captain who is half Dark Elf and works for the Necromancer on a rampage. Old enemies are after them as well. One thing that amazes me about this series is the worldbuilding and all the flora and fauna they introduce us to, such as here. On the other hand, they decided to change the illustrator for this storyline, which gave us mediocre art that resembles anime too often. Can't wait to see what'll happen as Gaw'yn has discovered how to undo the ghoul curse.
Well looks like they are taking the A team away from the series, for the first time the series feel stale.
The Fifteenth book in the Elves series is titled “Black as Blood”, it’s a direct continuation of Vol 10 Elfe noir, coeur sombre . We follow the dark elf Gaw'yn after he escapes his master wrath by taking a Ship only to find himself among one of Lha'saa general. He has to make a choice of either joining her forces as an assassin or becoming one of the ghouls. This is the story of where he draws the line.
While the author is the same one from the previous two volumes on the dark elves the illustrator is a new one. The art as a standalone is decent but when comparing to the impressive illustrations of the other volumes in the series, it felt mediocre.
PS: Maybe I am getting tired of the series but it’s no more as fun, everything feels repetitive.
