The first three books in The Sierra Files, plus a bonus Christmas novella, all for only 6.99! Join your favorite animal rights activist as she solves crimes, saves animals, and tries in vain to understand people as much as she understands her four-footed friends! Sierra is used to fighting for the lives of innocent creatures. But when a killer puts the lives of her own cats on the line, her crusade becomes personal. Animal rights activist Sierra Nakamura never expected to stumble upon the dead body of a coworker while out filming a project. She definitely never expected to get involved in the investigation. But when someone threatens to kill her cats unless she hands over the “information,” she becomes more bristly than an angry feline. Sierra knows that curiosity killed the cat, but she’s determined that her snooping will ultimately save the lives of her furry friends. Making matters worse is the fact that her cats—and the investigation—are driving a wedge between her and her boyfriend Chad. With every answer she uncovers, old hurts rise to the surface and test her beliefs. She also knows that if she lies down with dogs, she’ll get up with fleas. Saving her cats just might mean ruining everything else in her life. In the fight for survival, one thing is It’s either pounce or be pounced. Who knew a stray dog could lead to so much trouble? Newlywed animal rights activist Sierra Nakamura Davis is coming face to face with her worst breaking the news she eloped to her ultra-opinionated tiger mom. Her perfectionist parents have planned a vow renewal ceremony at Sierra’s lush childhood home, but a neighborhood dog ruins the rehearsal dinner when he shows up toting what appears to be a fresh human bone. Between the dog, a nosey neighbor, and an old flame turning up at all the wrong times, Sierra hunts for answers. Surprises abound at every turn as Sierra embarks on a journey of discovery that leads to more than just who did the crime. Sierra Nakamura Davis thinks that spending Christmas with her husband’s relatives will be a real Yuletide treat. But when the animal rights activist finds out that his family has a reindeer farm, she begins to feel more like the Grinch. Even worse, when Sierra arrives, she discovers that those very reindeer are missing. The community is depending on the creatures to spread holiday cheer at the annual light show. Plus, Sierra fears the animals might be suffering a far worse fate than being used for entertainment purposes. Can Sierra set aside her dogmatic opinions to help get the reindeer home in time for the holidays? Or will secrets tear the family apart and ruin Sierra’s dream of the perfect Christmas? “What do you mean a thirteen-foot lavender albino ball python is missing?” Tough-as-nails Sierra Nakamura Davis isn’t one to get flustered. But trying to balance being a wife and a new mom with her crusade to help animals is proving harder than she imagined. Add a missing python, a high-maintenance intern, and a dead body to the mix, and Sierra becomes the definition of rattled. Can she balance it all—and solve a possible murder—without losing her mind? Or will this juggling act be the death of her?
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
It was ok, not a huge attention grabber. I liked how the main character rethought her stance on animal rights. Would have liked more about her thoughts on Christianity. She was a bit too air headed for me.
I didn't particularly enjoy these stories. It was an average read and average characters. It is a clean read and basically enjoyed. I would recommend them to those who like slower mysteries.
It was great fun getting your know Sierra better, to go along with her and her adventures knowing what adventures the other characters in the series were experiencing
Never suspected the ending Interesting plot Same basic characters throughput the series Different turn of events in each one Longer read than in other series
The first book in this set (Pounced) was really hard to get into. If it hadn't been by an author I was familiar with I would have quit. It did get better, but short of what I expected. The last three were typical Barritt, fun and easy reading.
HUNTED Hunted was a nice surprise! I loved the Squeaky Clean (SC) books and I enjoyed reading Random Acts of Murder but I wasn't sure how another spin off to SC would be. Not much is said about Sierra in the SC books so I wasn't sure what to expect. When an opportunity came to read Hunted I grabbed it because I never pass up a great Author! I was pleasantly surprised how much I really came to love Sierra as much as Gabby. You really learn a lot about Sierra and her story in this book. Now I plan to go back and read the first one. As always Christy writes a great book and it is a great addition to the whole SC series if you haven't read those yet you definately should! This book will keep you on the edge of your seat I finished it really quickly because I couldn't put it down. Who knew that Sierra could be as good at solving crimes as Gabby! Awesome read
PRANCED What a cute addition to the Sierra stories. I loved this little Christmas Novella! After getting to know Sierra's family it was only fitting to meet Chad's as well! I loved the end of this book and how it brings them all to the true meaning of Christmas.. RATTLED This was such a great book. It was fun to see a different side of Sierra. I think parenthood changes us all and it was nice to see that her priorities are changing to her son vs. animal rights. I am excited to see where Christy will take this in the future. This book had a great Gabby like vibe but fit perfectly with Sierra. I love that Author does so well at adapting the cases to the main character of the series you are reading. Another great one! Can't wait for more!
