Stark Trilogy #2

Stark Shadows

Rate this book
The butterfly effect: The theory in which one small action, seemingly innocent, can set in motion an entire chain of events with catastrophic results. When Kira Riley first collided with Owen Stark she never dreamed the path it would set her on. Separating herself from Stark she was determined to achieve her mission. No more distractions. But the wheels of fate have already begun to turn. Ghosts of the past have been awakened.
Before meeting Kira, Owen Stark had been dead inside. He had forgotten how to live and love. He tried to fill the void with anything and everything until he was just numb. From the first moment he crashed into Kira, the flesh and blood man knew there was no going back. She was the drug he must have. He knew he should have walked away. Now that he has crossed the line, he would stop at nothing to have her again.
A relentless journey but one that has started the dominoes falling in a way they could have never predicted. Sometimes the danger in the shadows is the darkness of your own desire.

Book two in the Stark Trilogy will take you down roads you never expected.

O-M-G!!!

STARK SHADOWS by C.D. Bradley is the second book in the Stark Trilogy and a great addition well worth the wait, but this book’s ending was even harder to take than the last one! Everyone who is familiar with my reviews, knows I hate cliffhangers, but there have been a few trilogies that I am willing to forgo that dislike because either the story and/or characters are so amazing as to be worth the wait. This is one of those trilogies!

The start of book two has Kira being attacked in her home with flashbacks to her previous college attack. It is a well written and intense scene that still has you wondering if it is real or an alcohol induced dream. When she wakes up in the hospital, Holt is once again trying to help her, or is he? Kira has Paige stay with her until she is to be deployed in two weeks and Paige is kidnapped.

Owen Stark is back from deployment and looking to make things right with Kira, who he realizes is the only woman for him, but with Paige’s kidnapping and Kira’s attack nothing is going as planned again. Nothing between Kira and Owen is settled as Kira wants to focus on her military career and Owen vows to get Paige back and find out who is attacking Kira and why.

Although Kira and Owen are apart more than they are together in this book, the split into two separate paths never lets up in an intense, emotional, intriguing read. I got to read more about Owen’s true character, his willingness to do anything for those he loves and that no matter how dark things become there is a line of integrity he is not willing to cross. I was interested in all of Kira’s storyline revolving around her deployment to Peru and the history and study of the Zika virus.

And then BANG!

Book boyfriend that makes the pages sizzle! Strong, realistic characterization. Smart, intelligent plot. I love these books and am lucky that I have the third one available to read now, because if I had to wait I would go crazy.

To say that seeing the days go by were an agonizing wait will be short, just to let you understand what was on my mind just ask the author because I sent her so many messages that I lost count.

Those who have read the first book of this series Stark September, know the reason for my anxiety, who didn't read I think you better grab the first book already because I can guarantee that you will love it.

CD Bradley has a very characteristic writing, focused on the details and the fact that the book written in 3rd person makes us get better in the plot. For lovers of a good military story this is your book.

"Stark Shadow” is the second book from the Stark Trilogy and continues to tell the stories of Kira and Stark and after the way the other book ended CD Bradley had a lot of explaining to do and a lot of questions to answer, but in the course of reading new questions arose and you can imagine what I was thinking ...

The suspense, mystery, crime are well present but loyalty, love and sacrifice are also in great prominence. I wasn't at all prepared for what happened and because of that my heart felt so heavy that I can't describe what was on my mind and soul. The way this book ended left me devastated, left me speechless and very, very angry because I couldn’t the book was over.

CD Bradley please write the next book soon because I don't have the energy to endure this agonizing wait.

Where do I even begin!!! Owen and Kira are at it again. After throwing my Kindle at the end of book 1 - Stark September, this one has just left me speechless!!! Now I sadly had to take away a star for some inconsistencies throughout the story; however, I have contacted CD Bradley and chatted her up. Hopefully things will get smoothed out because I absolutely want to give this book and book 3 five stars because of the amazing storyline journey we are on!!! Owen and Kira's story is AMAZING! It has thrills, mystery, angst, and loads of action. Most of this book I spent yelling in my mind at Owen and Kira for their actions but I never lost faith in this relationship or felt disconnected from the characters themselves.

**4.5 Stars**

Stark Shadows is the second book of the Stark Trilogy. I was so excited to start reading, and it was everything I knew it would be. So many questions that were left unanswered in book one, but the secrets are now coming out in full force. Kira and Owen are two people that love each other to the moon and back but their past's are haunting them. An intense emotional journey of fighting for the one's you love and to never give up hope. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

CD Bradley did a fantastic job, the storyline itself is pure genius! Her writing was spot on, I was holding onto the edge of my seat wondering where Stark Shadows was going. I was not disappointed.

So much suspense, deadly secrets are revealed, Kira and Owen's love will be tested beyond measure. The question is will they stand a chance?

Read to find out.

4.5 Amazing Stars! This is the second book in the Stark trilogy and should be read in order to fully understand the book. Stark September left us with a cliffhanger and now we pick up with Kira and Stark's story. I have been waiting for this book since the first book ended in a cliffhanger! I needed answers to my question! The author again writes a well-written story that kept me engaged from the first chapter. It was filled with suspense, mystery, romance and love. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and again felt the characters emotions as I read through it. Now I am again anxious for the third and final book to come. Ms. Bradley please don't make me wait too long! I recommend this book!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

Plot: 4.5

CD Bradley did it again. I loved Stark Shadows and could not put it down. I now have a book hangover and am awaiting the next book. The cliff hanger floored me and I contacted CD right away. I must say I am waiting for the final installment just like waiting for the next 50 Shades Movie.

Can't wait to see what happens to these two. They have been through hell and back. But I think they might make it if she lives.

OMG THAT ENDING I had to have book 2 pronto !
I already lost my first review so Im going to make this one shorter and come back later to add some more :D

CD Bradley has me hooked on her storytelling, she delivers a fresh, gripping, series that keeps you on the edge of your seat in either in anticipation , trepidation or lust .

She delivers us flawed characters with depth and definition. A forbidden love story and crazy as bat shit friends that make you laugh out loud.

The kinky fuckery had me sheepishly grinning, Poor kira had no Idea which way to turn and Paige certainly was one of a kind and I loved her smart mouth and enigmatic character.

We see new friendships form within this story, battles still forgoing, and a forbidden love .

The story line runs from one to the next, giving us new information and adding more to he mix. Never a dull moment within the pages.

Conspiracy, heartbreak and WTF moments, the author certainly had me on the edge of my seat wandering in which direction she would take us.

Unshakable heroes , tough soliders, the author shows us the depth of emotion yet the unbreaking force and determination and love they each have for each other. CD Bradley has certainly done her homework delivering us this story.

We meet and love many memorable secondary characters that often have our hearts pattering, grinning and also on the edge of our seat ..

The heart-warming humor & affection between the soliders shows a brotherly bond even in death is unbreakable.

Stark Shadows is an Engaging roller coaster ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat at every page turn !!

Un putdownable ..Engaging, Titillating and suspenseful!

and a cliffhanger that will have you running to amazon for the next book !! eeekkkkkkk

I bought this on a whim from seeing it in a reader group for the cover model who is an author in his own right.

This is part 2 and it's doesn't let up from the intensity of part 1. Kyra and Owen should not be even looking at one another. She an officer and he's an enlisted man. Uh oh, big no no but the heart wants whom the heart wants.

At the end of part 1 Kyra is devastated as she thinks Owen has stood her up. Little did she know he was called out on a mission but had planned to propose to her. He's taking an officer's commission so that they can freely be together. Heartbroken and angry she goes about her way.

Kyra soon receives orders for a deployment to Peru to research mosquitos and the Zyka virus. Capt. Holt is on the same team and he is not a happy camper. Well if he left his nose out of her business and got himself a life he would be so put out.

There's a mystery about the virus and how it spread that has Kyra at the wrong place at the wrong time. A drug lord, a terrorist and some startling facts all signal the end for Kyra....or do they? Can Stark save her once again? Or has their luck finally run out?

Book 2 is the continuation of Owen & Kira's love story. The reason I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 is because the 2 main characters didn't have as much interaction and the pace was a little slower. There are new characters introduced since Kira has been deployed to Peru to research the Zika virus. The pace picked up again at the end of the story and left me wanting more. BT is the perfect cover model for this series.

A great continuation of Stark September but I lost interest in the scientific side of the story. However, it was still a great read.
