This visual novel has amazing characters within. Hal has extreme depth that is expressed through his attitude to counteract mediocrity with his stock trading. Along with Hagana he seems to show ebbs and flows of immaturity with socialization but inside he has extreme maturity and depth into his future. Lisa is another character that escapes anime tropes through her religion and her interest in Earth history. Also she is housing runaways which is pretty cool and adds a unique edge to her character. It is so refreshing to see characters who break the tropes of anime.
Many people complain the series was a little slow to get into at first but that was not the case for me. I really enjoy watching Hal and Hagana become more and more three dimensional as they interracted and used eachother's strengths, forced to work together. Hagana has also developed herself to be a more serious kind of sweet as the time goes on. Watching these characters grow in a slow and careful way was what really made me glad I read this. The investing also made my heart race a little, especially at the scene with the chocolate company. It was like I was investing on my own. The emotion was very real to me there. That adrenaline.
The youth aspect of this really felt close to home between Hal and the rich investor (i forgot his name..) the secrecy as he has to hide his financial life from people around him was something I could personally relate to. It really is like a world of someone's own deep down when it comes to the stock market and many people don't understand it well or are quick to judge it.
In a world of stock trading, investments, and computers wherein people who don't understand these things only think of dirty money, one can find more meaning.
