100 Things Blue Jays Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die

Rate this book
Most Blue Jays fans have taken in a game or two at Rogers Centre, remember where they were when Joe Carter hit his World Series–winning home run in 1993, and took in every moment of the Jays' historic 2015 postseason run. But only real fans know who spent two decades as the team’s BJ Birdy mascot, can name the opposing player who was once jailed for hitting a seagull with a thrown baseball at Exhibition Stadium, or how long it takes to open the Rogers Centre roof. 100 Things Blue Jays Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die stands as the ultimate resource for true fans of Canada’s sole major league baseball team. Author Steve Clarke has collected every essential piece of Blue Jays knowledge and trivia, as well as must-do activities, and ranks them all, providing an entertaining and easy-to-follow checklist as readers progress on their way to fan superstardom. This updated edition includes the Blue Jay's recent success and revival, including the push to the 2015 American League Championship Series and Josh Donaldson's MVP season.

A good read but there are numerous typos and typesetting errors throughout the book. Those errors shouldn’t exist in a revised and updated edition.

Kept this one as a bathroom reader (not that it's a crappy book (see what I did there? (Ok I'll stop))).

Seriously though, this is a great book to read in little snippets (each factoid takes up only a couple pages), as a life long Jays fan, it is chock full of interesting tidbits I knew nothing about and brought back some great memories of growing up watching the Jays.

It can be a little repetitive, but overall, an interesting read about some of the Jays history!

Sincerely, a Jays fan.

A good read for a Jays Fan. The book is a gentle romp through Blue Jay lore and history. It's an easy read with short chapters that serves as a trip down memory lane. The "100" chapters seemed to be organized in no specific order and were occasionally repetitive.

Regardless, it's a fun light read.

Many facts (indeed, pressing the concept of "should know" a bit further than it needs to go) rather tediously presented.

It was fun to learn some interesting facts about the Jays. I had to take some stars off for the cringy jokes throughout. And unfortunately the author lost me with item 99: Barfield Wants Booty.” I didn’t appreciate the way the author obviously found it funny that former Jays player Barfield made comments about “chicks” attendance going down because players were starting to wear baggy pants. It would have been ok if the author called Barfield out for his icky sexism but instead he illustrated it as funny. It is not.

"As you read through the collection of stories, I hope you take pride in the uniqueness of the Blue Jays fan experience." (xiii)

This book had a great amount of facts about the Toronto blue jays. I learned a lot from this book, and found it to be interesting. This book is the perfect bus book, as it has short chapters.

This book was a quick read, as I read it in about 2 days!

I would recommend this book to any Blue Jays fans!

This book was written in 2012. I am reading it in 2021 so a lot has happened since then. All of the scenarios mentioned are great memories and a few of the statistics are surprising. One thing for sure, the author hates former Blue Jays general manager J. P. Ricciardi with a passion.

A solid source of Blue Jays information that was not as repetitive as expected. A light, fun read that fans will fly through. Way better than the Raptors version of 100 Things. Worth a read.

Good read but how do we leave out Home Plate Lady?! She's a significant person in the Blue Jays fanbase and deserved an honourable mention

What this book is about is basically in the title; 100 Things Blue Jays Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die. If that was too much, this books talks about stats, amazing facts and the history of the Toronto Blue Jays; Canada's baseball team. Some things were new, others I've heard but its not about whats in the book to me, its that someone took the time and effort to notice the Blue Jays.

The reason I pick up this book is because one, baseball is my passion and my life and it was a baseball book on my favorite team and two, i needed something to read for my English project. I really don't regret picking up this book because it gave me so much and taught me so much.

I finished this book because it was down right amazing and I loved every word of it. I think the main reason i finished this book is because I'm a huge Blue Jays fan and i love finding out new things about them.

I recommend this book to every single Canadian and Blue Jays fan out there. They need to know about Canada's' team and for the fans, they need to know more. More is never enough!

I really hate to say this but this book wont be really successful. Not because its written poorly or has bad grammar but because its about the Blue Jays and not many people like them. This book would only sell in Canada and no where else because who in USA or China care about the Blue Jays?

A book that any Blue Jays fan would cherish. I thought I knew quite a bit about my favourite team, but I was sorely mistaken. If you have even a passing interest in Canada's only MLB team you would love this book.
