Possibility? Hope not.

If you want to learn military abbreviations you will. If you want to read about worse case scenarios you will. This book, like the first two held my interest from the first word to the last. Hope some of the advanced ideas, exoskeletons as well as the other high tech weapons etc are being developed. Scared the hell out of me in parts.

This is just a terrific novel, a step up from the previous two titles in the series—and they were quite good as well. The characters, who had been little more than names in the previous two books, are developed into living, breathing people that the reader can care about. The technological advancements (this series of books take place between 2040-2043) are well thought out and seem quite conceivable. The dilemma of fighting three fronts simultaneously is explored nicely and the battle descriptions are powerful.

If the series tells us anything, it is that the country needs to be prepared. There are malignant forces in the world, and some that just perceive what the world should be like differently from our own conceptions. The series is so well done that one can easily see the events play out in our lifetimes—and that adds tremendous anxiety to the reader as he journeys through this four volume set. 5 Stars.

This series continues to get better. Despite still being a bit impersonal, book 3 does a better job of telling some more localized tales of individuals themselves. This gives a bit more depth to the story, rather than the bird's eye view and generalized summary of events.

As for the larger plotline itself, whoa. The war for the US is getting intense. Still struggling to cope with the sheer numbers of the forces against them, the US's tech and economic advances are finally staring to come into play. Only time will tell if it will be enough to finally shift the momentum from constantly being on the defensive.

Eagerly awaiting book 3

Easy reading. Ive enjoyed all 3 books and eagerly look forward to #4. It gives a look at today's political climate and and an idea of where the world's three top militaries may be headed. Interesting inclusion as well as the possibility of a strong multinational islamic caliphate. I like the look into future military weapons and equipment. The changes in the Military over the past 40 years gives an idea of the possibilities of what the future military looks like.

If you like books with foundation and imagination you will like this.

Although I hope this future doesn't happen we all know what our politicians are like, Not think more than to the next election. I like books with realistic realities. We have the right ingredients for a future like that, perhaps we need to remember our future is in OUR hands.

Extraordinarily bad.

This really has to be one of the worst books I've come across in years. It's historically inept, militarily ignorant and above all technically and scientifically ignorant.

To quote (I think) Dorothy Parker, this book isn't only to be avoided. It's to be flung as far away as possible.

Great start absolutely absurd ending

What started off as a fantastic start to the book quickly turned utterly absurd, spoilers: the Japanese betray America but the manner in which they do it is so unbelievable to the point where only a vast network of incompetent people in the US would have allowed it to happen and given the fact the author has sold us on the president being the man who puts competent people in positions of influence and power this whole story of a Japanese trojan horse contradicts the characters he's created and the story he's told so far, he needs someone new to read his book before he publishes because they are seriously dropping the ball, I was gutted that after 2 solid books it's ruined by a p*ss poor 3rd entry, God I hope the final book saves it

This book, like the first two held my interest from the first word to the last. Abbreviations and jargon abound. Advanced weapons add incredulity to the scenario. The scenario is a good guess and who knows? Maybe? The shoot-em-up-bang-bang gets pretty redundant and most of the characters are expendable. That said, on to book #4.

Grpping

This is one of the best military fiction series I've read to date. The plots are believable and aren't overly technical. The book is fast paced and is presented from different viewpoints. Look forward to book 4.

This is a very strong future history thriller. Feels very realistic. Hopefully the Pentagon dreams up scenarios like this to be prepared. A very good series for those oriented towards war/action books.

I read the first three books in this series. I don’t think I will buy the fourth. The plot is really good but the timeline and numbers are just too fantastic. The story leaves the realm of plausible and enters a kind of numerical gibberish. The scene from one chapter to the next is often the WH situation room where you read one briefing after another. Just too unrealistic too keep reading.
