Read all three over the course of my wife’s pregnancy with our first child, through the first two years of my child’s life. The series does a good job of highlighting helpful parenting tips and techniques with a specific focus on dads, their relationships to their children and their value as a part of the family unit. Probably best read in time with the development of your child, as many of the information is practical techniques to deal with issues as they arise. There is also a lot of personal reflection and the series is largely an exploration of one man’s personal experience and attempting to be the best parent possible.
There is a good bit of psychology and child development theory in this series that is offered up, and the author does a good job of explaining different perspectives without being too pushy of particular beliefs over others. Some of the information can be repetitive and the author does go on several tangents concerning personal relationships and experiences, but they don’t detract from the overall series.
