Here is the gripping account of a wholesome American family which elected to turn a son's tragic death as a human sacrifice into a positive program to fight substance abuse.
This is a very frightening example of what can happen to anyone at any time. A heart-breaking story that makes you cry but also show such courage and grace when dealing with evil. I highly recommend it.
This was a much different point of view than the other book I read about the mark Kilroy murder, Cauldron of Blood. This book is co-written by Mark's father, and focuses more of the actions of the family and investigators while Mark was missing, instead of discussing details about the drug trade and cult members. There were some statements in this book that were directly contradictory to what was said in the other book. I guess it is best left up to readers to decide which version they choose to believe.
I would have appreciated learning more about the thoughts and feelings of the men who were with Mark on the Spring Break trip. I also think the book lost focus when it connected many non-Christian religions to Satan worship. According to the parameters the authors set forth, their idea is accurate, but they are definitely coming from a Christian background.
This book is insightful when it discusses the many ways the drug trade impacts people beyond simply looking at crime rates and addiction.
This book is definitely worth reading if one is interested in true-crime missing persons and murder mysteries or the unique border culture between the US and Mexico.
