Frontier #11

While the Moon Burns

Rate this book
From the jungles of the Pacific to the boardrooms of Sydney, the stakes have never been higher when you're fighting for love and survival. And while the Duffy and Macintosh families may fight on the same side in one war, the battle between these two families is far from over.

For Tom Duffy, the purchase of his ancestral property Glen View means his daughter will have a home to return to after the war and, hopefully, for the next generation of Duffys. But the Macintosh family won't let this land go without a fight and when Sarah Macintosh, the daughter of his old nemesis, challenges his ownership, he knows he's in for one hell of a fight.

Meanwhile in Sydney, Sarah has taken over from her father as the head of the Macintosh firm and, while the Nazi investments she made might be in tatters, she has big plans for herself and the family business. And Sarah she isn't afraid of playing dirty.

While Sergeant Jessica Duffy, Captain James Duffy and Major David Macintosh have managed to make it this far through the long war, will all they are fighting for still be waiting for them when they return home?

Another book I couldn’t put down. Love the continuing saga and information about the war and the author has the ability to keep you interested by the way he involves the reader into lives enabling a clear picture. It’s interesting in reading some of the aboriginal culture and how that affected other aboriginals and the difficulty that some had being accepted for their ability and not their race.
The author also entwines the reader in what is happening back in Australia to corrupt policeman political clout however the good do win out

Another one of Watt's great reads.

Set in Northern Australia and New Guinea during WWII with fighting between Australian and Japanese forces and takes you right through to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, ending the war. The fighting is not only limited to these war zones, but continue between the Duffys and Macintoshes in Australia, particularly Sarah Macintoshes on war against the Duffys.

As usual, an excellent book. The first three in the series were classic 5-stars with the next 8, whilst great not quite at the originals standard (although this reflects moreso the sheer quality of the first 3). This one again ticked all the boxes and leaves you hanging for more. My only criticisms are (I) the books are getting quite short and (ii) whilst I accept the relevance of Wallarie it was a little too all-consuming in this novel.

Bring on No. 12!

Just when you thought the McIntoshs and Duffys had done it all - another entirely engaging novel from a real storyteller! It will suck you in, willing or not!

Another interesting read in the series - took a bit to get into, mainly because I've missed some of the books gone before

As with all of Peters novels, I always have the same complaint.... they don't last long enough because I can't put the bloody thing down. Another great read.
