Loved it! Reminded me of Wilkie Collins Moonstone a bit. Spooky & suspenseful with a satisfying ending. Had me hooked from the start. Read past midnight to finish it.

One of the most suspenseful books I read as a kid, and still very readable as an adult. A lot of the plot points and phrases were still etched into my memory.
I read it in the German translation.
