What not to expect when you're expecting... Becca Thomas is thrilled to be pregnant, even though it means bringing up her baby alone. At thirty-eight, this may be her last chance to have a child. And she doesn't expect to see Aiden Rodas again--doesn't think that a freewheeling younger man like him would even want to be a father.
Wrong Aiden may live the life of a devil-may-care wildland firefighter, but he's not going to walk away from his responsibilities, no matter how unexpected they are. His challenge now is making Becca see that their child needs both of them. An even bigger challenge will be to make her realize that this expectant father has fallen in love with a certain mother-to-be!
Prior to writing romance, award-winning, USA Today Bestseller Melinda Curtis was a junior manager for a Fortune 500 company, which meant when she flew on the private jet she was relegated to the jump seat—otherwise known as the potty. After grabbing her pen (and a parachute) she made the jump to full-time writer. Between writing sweet romance and sweet romantic comedy, Melinda finds time to bond with her husband over home remodeling projects. She recently came to grips with the fact that she’s an empty nester and a grandma, concepts easier to grasp than jet-setting on a potty.

This story was a great addition to the Mountain Firefighter series! If you haven’t read the other two books that come before this one, don’t worry, they can all be read as stand alone novels.
I really enjoyed watching the connection and relationship grow between the two main characters in this novel. Becca and Aiden had quite the journey to take in order to get to know each other and also learn to trust each other, all amidst the dangerous backdrop of a hard to contain forest fire. I also liked the side story involving Aiden’s father. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Becca Thomas is working the Flathead fire as a Senior Fire Behavior Analyst for the National Interagency Fire Center, NIFC. It just so happens that she is 7 1/2 months pregnant and determined to raise her baby on her own. Turns out the baby's father Aiden "Spider" Roas, who doesn't know anything about her pregnancy, is also at the Flathead fire with his wildland firefighter company, the Silver Bend Hot Shots. Becca is sure she can avoid him. Not so though. Spider doesn't recognize her at first but after he realizes who she is there's lots of explaining to do by Becca. I loved this story! The characters are very likable. The storyline runs smoothly. I have enjoyed the entire series so far. This si the third book in Melinda Curtis' Mountain Firefighter series. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Spider (Aiden Rodas) is a member of the elite Silver Bend Hot Shots. He lives for danger and won't grow up. I loved his zest for life but I knew it was to hide his feelings over his rough childhood. His dad was never present and his mother abandoned him. He was raised by his Abuelita. Becca Thomas is a successful Fire Behavior Analyst. She cares about keeping the firefighters safe. She's determined that they won't die like her brother did. However, life has passed her by. She wants a baby even if she brings the child up by herself. She seduces a handsome stranger and is now pregnant. Her last job before her maternity leave is helping control a deceptively dangerous fire in Flathead Montana. Here she stumbles across her baby's daddy. Becca fights their attraction. She doesn't need him, but he's determined to be involved in his baby's life. Will Spider win the battle to claim his woman and their child? I loved the characters! The older woman - younger man scenario was very satisfying. Becca and Spider are both strong and determined to get their way. I was emotionally involved in their story. I cared for them and wanted a HEA. The dysfunctional relationship between Spider and his father had me in tears. Melinda Curtis wrote such an emotional story. I couldn't stop reading A Baby For The Mountain Firefighter. I was invested in the story and the characters. It's so easy to be drawn into the drama. I can't wait to see who will be next to find their happiness.
Harlequin SuperRomance has done a wonderful nob. The last bunch of books I have read have been very good books. Expectant Father is about this older woman who goes to Vegas looking for a man to get her pregnant. She falls for a guy but leaves it at a one night stand. She is a Fire Behavior Analyst. He is a firefighter. They meet again and he realizes she is pregnant with his kid. He feels responsible because he didn't have his dad around. This book was really good and had me interested. Especially towards the end. It was really good. This book was written by Melinda Curtis. I'm going to look for more books by her.

When Aiden, known as “Spider” in his Hot Shot crew, has a little R & R in Las Vegas, he follows his usual pattern of “love ’em and leave ’em” with a beautiful woman. When Becca, whose biological clock is ticking, searches out the casinos and bars in the same city for a baby daddy, she thinks she has found the perfect voluntary and unwitting sperm donor in Aiden, a handsome and charming younger man. He need never know the consequences of his one night stand.
When Aiden and a very pregnant Becca meet up again, he doesn’t recognize her, and she absolutely does not want him to discover she is carrying a child he helped to create. Obviously their relationship is at the center of Melinda Curtis’ A Baby for the Mountain Firefighter, but there are other major threads woven into the plot. Aiden’s family life as a child was less than stellar and Becca, a Fire Behavior Analyst, has personal reasons for her emotional involvement in each fire. This romance includes a lot of insight into the movement of mountain forest fires, the dangers involved, and the expertise of the various crews and their responsibilities. The struggles of women in that male dominated field are also highlighted.
This was a quick read with a predictable and hoped for ending. The fun of the book was watching the characters work through their issues both personally and professionally and discovering their motivations. There are some exciting adventures as fires are fought in Idaho, but the dangers are experienced from the safety of the reader’s armchair.
I would like to extend my thanks to Melinda Curtis for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this next installment in the series! Of course it can be read as a standalone too. I love reading about Hot Shots firefighters! I used to live in Montana and had an "upfront" seat as to the amazing work they do in wilderness firefighting. It's amazing and treacherous. Becca is pregnant but never expects to see the baby's father again, which is fine with her. She just wants to be a mother and since she's older, feels this is her last shot at motherhood. However, while on her last fire in a leadership position, she comes face to face with the father, Aiden "Spider" Rodas. At first she doesn't tell him he's the father but eventually he finds out. He's never wanted to be a father but slowly he changes his mind. Not good for Becca because she doesn't want to share the baby! I loved the changing attitudes and thoughts of characters in the story, not only Becca and Aiden but others. I enjoyed the whole book and look forward to the next one!
I really love this series and I only want more. I want to know what happens so Queen, I want to read Chainsaws story because I really like him and throughout all these books he has become my favorite. This book like the others just shows blood doesn’t make you family it’s who your choose. I loved Becca she was a fighter and nothing was going to stand in her way of doing her job and doing it good. I would have liked to hit Spider up the side of the head of few times personally but he has a good heart even though his life has not been all that great. I don’t even know where to begin with Roadhouse so I will say read the book and you will know what I mean. I loved being able to catch up with the others from the first few books. I also liked how the author keeps it a clean read while dealing with some not so easy things. Seriously grab this book and the others in this series you really won’t be disappointed
***A Baby for the Mountain Firefighter: A May-December Older Woman Romance (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 3) by Melinda Curtis 5 stars I purchased a copy of the clean novel A Baby for the Mountain Firefighter: A May-December Older Woman Romance (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 3): Aiden and Becca by Melinda Curtis and this review was given freely. A suspenseful, drama and action packed novel of misunderstanding, love, sacrifice and forgiveness. Playboy assistant superintendent of the Silver Bend, Idaho's Hot Shots, Aiden "Spider" Rodas is confronted with his past when not only is his errant father but a one night stand in the form of a pregnant and single NIFC’s senior Fire Behavior Analysts, Becca Thomas appear at a Montana wildfire.
5 Stars. This is the third book in the Mountain Firefighter series, starring Hot Shot – Spider aka Aiden. I liked Spider in the previous books, but he is a star in this story. His character is fun, serious, smart, and emotional. He’s the perfect hero. I enjoyed following his journey from a carefree bachelor to a responsible father and husband. Becca is a good match for Aiden and their chemistry is captivating. The author masterfully drops you into the explosive fire season with a detailed voice of research where you can feel the heat from the flames. A few twists of Aiden’s relationship with his father as well as a small spotlight on the female firefighter add even more enjoyment to the story. Once I started this story, I didn’t want to put it down. Reviewed for Still Moments Magazine.
They have so much going for them, but all Becca can focus on are the differences. Like the fact that she is older than Aiden. Aiden never thought he would want a family. He didn't grow up with much family and if he ended up like his dad, he didn't think he could be a good dad. But Becca changed all of that. It was supposed to be just a one night stand. All Becca wanted was a baby, not a man in her life. That would only complicate things. Aiden just wants to keep his life the same, maybe he can add visitation to his son or daughter a couple times a month. Couldn't he? But, things change. People change. Can they make a go of it?
Becca Thomas is working as a Fire Behavior Analyst for a Fire in Flathead Montana. She’s trying to get a promotion before she has her baby. Spider, aka Aiden Rodas, is fighting the fire in Flathead Montana. Becca didn’t think she would ever see Aiden again. How will he feel when he finds out he’s going to be a father? He never wanted kids. How will people feel about an older woman, younger man? Twist and turns, with Aiden’s father shows up. Aiden feels something for Becca, even though he’s mad at her for not wanting to tell him. After all, she thinks she can do it on her own. Love this story. Love Aiden and Becca.
This was a sweet contemporary romance. I really enjoyed the relationship between the slightly older woman, Becca and firefighter Aiden and it was definitely a different storyline. There was a little conflict, just enough to make it interesting as their relationship develops.
It was also interesting to meet the other characters in the book and their caring of one another. The book is a great read and I will continue reading the works of this author.
I received an ebook copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.
I really enjoyed this firefighter series book. Aiden and Becca's story. Becca feeling the maternal clock ticking, decides to take matters in her own hands. She's been busy with her career and hasn't had time for socializing. Aiden is a Hot Shot firefighter and isn't serious about anything. The two meet and things spark. Fast forward eight months and another chance encounter, Aiden doesn't recognize Becca and she wants to keep it that way. But, will that happen? Read and find out. Good book to read for summer night.
"A Baby for the Mountain Firefighter" (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 3) by Melinda Curtis is a terrific read. I loved Aiden 'Spider' and Becca's story. This was a wonderful addition to this series. This story was packed with romance, humor, entertaining characters, hot firefighters, action, and more. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, firefighters, and series.
A great addition to The Mountain Firefighter Series! It was fun to read about Aiden growing up and owning up to his responsibility. I enjoyed reading about Becca's strong character and how she dealt with her demanding job, pregnancy, and Aiden. The fire/firefighting scenes were especially enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to other readers, especially fans of The Mountain Firefighter Series! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
A Baby for the Mountain Firefighter by Melinda Curtis is book 3 of the Mountain Firefighter series. It is a story of a slightly older woman and a younger man. Both work in the firefighting service. Becca and Aiden had a one night stand which result in a baby he does not know about. It is a story that is packed full of adventure, action and drama. Melinda Curtis develops her characters so you feel like they are your friends and next door neighbors. She includes background that enhances the story. I am enjoying the HotShots in the Mountain Firefighter series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Wow, what an incredible book!! A lot of research went into this book. Everything was described beautifully and made you feel exactly what the characters were feeling. If I have any complaint, it would be that there were too many characters. That is NOT the author’s issue. That is mine and mine alone. Lol I am very bad with remembering names. So following the story was a little hard for me. But I don’t blame the book at all!
Peter Pan aka Spider aka Aiden grows up fast when he discovers he is to become a father. A romance set in the tough world of forest fires with a lot of in-depth information of that world which totally adds to the drama and interest. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book gifted by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Becca and Aiden lead you through a forest fire and accidental romance in this book. When Becca decided to have a one night stand and get pregnant, she never expected to see her baby daddy again. Aiden loves his job, hates his father and is very sure he never wants to have a marriage or baby. Then he realizes that Becca is pregnant, and given the timing, it could very well be his...
Love the stories by Melinda Curtis. When you are having a baby and come to terms with raising it by yourself until the father finds out and sets out to convince her that their child needs both of them. It's so right to read about love and happiness and making the family complete. Great story for everyone.
I like this book. Best one of the series so far as I am concerned. It just keeps on moving bringing you feel in side the lives of these heroic characters. Can't wait to see what comes next. Enjoy!
DNF. It was readable but the format was annoying. I suppose it is meant to be skimmed through and not read from cover to cover. I might come back to it later on.
