What a great story! I loved that Barnett blended mystery with paranormal. A comical cozy mystery that's a must read!

The good stuff first: this is a lively story written with a lot of verve, well-paced, and you can tell the author had a lot of fun writing it. There are bits of very clever writing here and some very funny moments. The characters are a lot of fun. I really did enjoy reading Murder Bites; my only major concern with it was the editing, or lack thereof. Characters' names change and change back throughout the story (DCI Marsh becomes DCI Shaw for a few chapters, even though Mr. Shaw is another character in the story; the Barter twins turn into the Boon twins for a bit too); there's a good amount of comma errors, both missing commas ("How are you Betty?" rather than "How are you, Betty?") and comma splices; and the word "OK" is usually written in lowercase, "ok", which looks sloppy. It does feel a bit slapdash, as if the book was rushed to publication without much editing.
Nevertheless, this a fun, clever, readable little book to while away a few hours. I do look forward to continuing with the series.

One sip or two
A really fun, lighthearted read. She is a vampire but has an addiction to sweets. Her job at the coffee house allows her to indulge that. However when a customer is poisoned in front of her and her BFF is suspected of murder she knows she has to do something to help. Can she clear her BFF? Suspects come out of the woodwork and even when it seems that the case is closed, she still has questions. A good plot that looks at vampires in a sympathetic way. Whist the characters vary from our nosy, confident heroine to the slightly dizzy, Barbie like klutz of her BFF.

When a Elderly Women fell dead while sitting in her Bosses Cafe and her best friend is accused of the murder will what's a Vamp to do. SOLVE THE MURDER. You will become friends with this family of Vampires, Zombies, Werewolves, and any other Night Creature that may come to the house or coffee house or candy shop.

Eh, it was ok
Yeah. I am a bit disappointed with this book. The mystery was okay, but Felicity, and her family (plus the lodgers) brought the whole reading experience down. Even the whiff of a future romance between Felicity and James couldn’t save it.
