3.5 stars. A fun continuation of the first story. I actually like how they're dragging out the mystery of who is trying to sabotage them. It's a storyline that wasn't fully necessary and didn't matter that much, but the suspense is making it more than it was. I've enjoyed the journey of them getting to that first all-so-important handbag to launch their label off the ground.

This is the second book in the Poseur series by Rachel Maude.

The books are about 4 high school girls from completely different molds. One is a hoity-toity Frenchie. One is the daughter of a rapper. One is a hippie. And one is a Plain Jane, whose name just happens to be Janie.

The four are all passionate about one thing: STYLE! They get grouped together for a project where they make their own clothing line. At the end of the first book, they have a party to name the line and on every piece of paper, someone wrote POSEUR.

That’s where 1 left off and 2 begins.

This is more of a tween novel about high school girls, but since I read the first one and thought it was cute, I wanted to try to second. I do love me some series.

I really like how this book is laid out. Instead of having a 1,2,3 at the beginning of every chapter, it tells you who you’re going to be dealing with, and most importantly, what they’re wearing. It’s a nice way of changing it up. And honestly, who really needs the numbers?

I also like how she emphasizes words. In the field of journalism, we do whatever we can to show our anchors which words are important. Most of the time we use /this/ so the anchor knows that’s the word they need to pop. Maude does the same thing here by using italics to let you know which words the girls are emphasizing. I think it shows the personality of the girls. Everyone uses emphasis on different things. To me, it shows not only intelligence, but what’s important to each person.

This may seem childish, but I love the pictures that come in the books. The pictures are supposed to come from the main character, Janie. I like them because every time I read a book, and I think most people do, I imagine in my head what each character looks like. In these books, I know what they look like and how they dress because they are right there on the pages. I also like with this book, they come out with a Trick-or-Treat bag and each of the 4 girls designs are shown along with the final design. And at the end of the book, it picks out an outfit that each of the girls wore and tells you how to make it. It confused me from step one, but it’s a cool, hands on idea.

This is a very trendy book. And while I like to think I know the top designers, I also know after Fendi, Gucci and Prada, I’m all out of resources. They’re not things I can afford, so unless you’re at the Huntington Mall, there’s really no reason for me to know about you unless I’m reading Perez. I’ve learned about a lot of designers through this book. I’ve been googling them as I come across them. I hope Mikey doesn’t stumble across the sites and think I’m really thinking about shopping there. I may need to just go ahead and warn him.

I really can’t say there are much about these books that I don’t like. They are cute and fun and even though I don’t know much about life in California, it’s how I imagine the wealthier side living. Since they are easy reads and they make me happy, I will give this 4 bookmarks. If I gave half marks, it would probably get 3.5, but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt

My friends was reading this book in class and told me she had rather enjoyed it, because it was modern and humerous. I tried looking for this book in my public library but it was never there. Finally, last time I went I found this book and the next one but not the previous one. Still, I thought I'd read it even without the first book.

This book has a lot of characetrs that I either hated or felt were plain dolls with nothing interesting whatsoever. Charlotte was probably the character I hated most, the way all she cared about was fancy restaurants and shops. I mean, HELLO? Not all girls are like that you know. I mean some of us actually KNOW who Napoleon is, thank you very much, and aren't that brainsless. Nikki was up next with all her innocence I found puke-worthy.

Petra and Janie were the most ok/good characters in my opinion. Everyone else - Ms. Maude needs to work on cause they're just little puppets who's strings have been cut.

The story is rather dull and boring. What annoyed me about this book was again how it tells girls that they should focus on clothing and wasting money instead of education and leading a good life. I get the feeling that authors who write like this are leading that same kind of life, cause why else would they write these kinds of books?

The thing with the fraud label I didn't get how it could have affected the whole group so maybe it was just me but that was just a pointless part of the story for me.

Overall a disappointing book for I think girls who are poseurs. The title is very appropriate for the characters and people who might live life like that. Do correct me if I'm wrong but this book was pointless. I didn't hate it to any extent, just didn't have anything positive to say about it.

Time to pick up the next book and see if things will get any better from there

Halloween is arriving shortly at Winston Prep and the new teen fashion label POSEUR wants to introduce this season’s must-have accessory: a handbag called the trick-or-treater. But will the four very different girls be able to agree on a design?
Charlotte Beverwil is the rich and cool girl at school. She has very strong opinions and doesn’t take no for an answer. That is, until her handbag idea is voted out for its bad fabric and cheesy structure.
Janie Farrish is quite the opposite. She isn’t very wealthy and isn’t at the top of the social pyramid. She feels even lower when her design isn’t even acknowledged by the other girls.
Petra Green’s design is ruled out faster that you can say “hippie.” Petra loses her cool at the rejection of her handbag surprisingly considering she isn’t the type of person to get frustrated. She is more about helping animals and the earth.
Melissa Moon takes rejection of her handbag quite hard considering she is the leader of the group. Her handbag matched her personality: too flashy.
Will boyfriends, siblings, or mean girls stand in the way of making a good design?
Rachel Maude’s writing style is fun. I like the fact that before each chapter she does a description of the up-coming character’s outfits. It is fun to see what they are wearing and following along with their day-to-day clothes.
Girls who like the Clique series will love this book. It is the second in a series but can be read without having to read the first.

Once again the girls of Poseur prove to be much more entertaining and likable than their vapid Poppy sisters. Petra, Charlotte, Janie and Melissa are passionate, creative, and intelligent. I actually want them to succeed. The fashion is always fun and quirky, and the attractive illustrations really help this series stand out. This book was a little slow in the middle, but overall it was a fun addition to the series.

Ugh, this was pretty bad. This is the sequel to Poseur...I figured I'd read it because the last book had a lot of loose threads. Pretty much the only thing that I liked about this book was the drawings and designs... there wasn't much of a plot line, too many chapters from various characters' points of views cluttered it up, and romances were introduced that never went anywhere. Horrible!!

Jest to doskonała okazja by zaprezentować światu swój pierwszy autorski projekt, którym będzie Hallo-Torba.

It was alright but the first book should have been a standalone. The first book was way more interesting and had so much more fun and interesting content in it. The first book had more of a “punk meets glam” vibe but this book was all vapid glam, lol. I might read the third book to see if it gets any better, but yeah.

Once again, we are treated to the adorably cute fashion sketches, signed by Janie Farrish, who is the designated artist in the Poseur group. But they're actually done by Rachel Maude (except the Compai ones in the back). So beautiful. I was inspired to start some of my own!

The story continues the four girls' quest to promote their fashion label, Poseur. This time, Halloween is coming up, and they are trying to decide on a bag to promote that can still be worn year-round. Yes, the Halloween part is just a marketing gimmick, and a really clever one. Each girl has a completely different vision for how the bag should look like. While they try to solve this and decide on a final bag design, each of the girls encounter their own personal problems.

One thing that stood out to me was how the consequences of sex scandals reflect differently on guys and girls. In Poseur (book 1), Nikki and Jake (Janie's brother AND Charlotte's ex-boyfriend) were caught kissing. As a result, Janie was ostracized by the entire school--she was ignored by all the groups, rejected by her former friends, and worst of all, spit on by a mob of students.

What does Jake get?

Oh, he mopes. He mopes around the house, Charlotte's mad at him for being disloyal, and Janie's mad at him for putting her social status (whatever she has) at risk.

Most of his negative consequences are private and self-inflicted. In public, guys and eighth grade girls actually admire him more for what he did. Meanwhile, Nikki gets shamed by society in public. Double standards are a terrible thing that we see in many high schools, and it shows up in this novel.

Overall, the book was okay. I laughed at some parts. Felt angry in a couple. Got sleepy in others. Nikki's a side character but I felt more attached to her than the Poseur label girls because the stakes for her are so high and she has lost so much.

Before I read this one I was excited to read more, but now I don't feel that inclined to read the next book, except for the pretty fashion drawings and DIY guides. That would be my main reason for reading another book in this series. If you don't like fashion, then subtract half a star from my rating for this book.

From what I've read online, there seems to be no fifth book coming out. I hope Maude comes out with a new series. I'd check it out because while her characters aren't very convincing, her writing is pretty humorous to read. Maybe the next series will have better-developed characters.

Rating: 2.5/5

What I would dine on while reading this book:

Huh. The characters mostly just snack on stuff in this book.

1. a small bag of baby carrots
2. a horizontally-cut Turkey sandwich

What do you think about this series? Is Poseur #3 better than Poseur #2? Share your perspective with a comment. I'd love to hear your thoughts. If you convince me that Poseur 3 is worth reading, then I will check it out.

Thanks for reading! <3 You can check out this and other reviews on my book blog at Glamorous Book Lounge.

The Good, the Fab and the Ugly. Say it again. And again. The name itself is amazing. Funny yet charming. My friends always laughed when they saw it. Boy, was I glad to prove them wrong.

First of all, I felt the original Poseur book was good but could have been better. I felt it was too fashion-centred and although I do have a passion for desgining and fashion, an overload is not necessary. The second book luckliy was MUCH BETTER!

It still was fashion-centred for all you obsessed fashionistas (guilty), but it had more of a plot line. First books are for introductions to characters and getting everything into place for the rest of the books. This second book was had more comedy, more romance and of course, DRAMA!

Do you remember Nikki? No, well I don't blame you. I hardly did. She was the girl who kissed Charlotte's boyfriend (also known as Janie's older brother). At first I thought her story would be cliche and sappy. Instead it had me on the edge of my seat (seriously, I fell down a couple of embarrising times).

The designs as usual, seem to amaze me. Once again, my favourite parts of the book are 'The Getups'. I loved to imagine how the characters looked and the sketches were so stunning.

Okay, I probably bored you enough with why I liked this novel. Let me give you an idea on what it was about. Basically, the Poseur group are having a contest between themselves on who can design the best 'Trick Or Treater' bag (just in time for the Halloween festivities). Who will win? Will friendships be test? And the question many of have, who is out to get the girls?

Read Poseur #2, The Good the Fab and the Ugly. I convinced you enough, go out and get yourself a copy. My warning to you is to read this on a weekend at home. I started reading this novel at school. It was a HUGE mistake. How can I be expected to focus on French verbs when I could be devouring the details on Charlotte's dress? And not to mention laughing out loud in the middle of a history lecture?

K, that was a long review. Sorry guys if you are asleep right now... but READ THIS ONE!

Average. Not terrible, but a little below pretty good. Ugh Janie get a backbone you disgust me. And ugh of course there's the whole And that sentence was really long. Anyway, I like the whole fashion designing thing. Wonder what it would have been like as a manga. Oh and Charlotte.. I don't know, I guess I felt sorry for her. Actually, sorry for all of them. And Petra. Janie, well.. She doesn't have the unlimited credit cards like the other girls do. She doesn't live the luxurious life they have. And she feels she isn't good enough (actually kind of cliche if you ask me.) And Melissa. I don't know where the author is trying to take the whole Anyway, this series is the kind of series you read when you don't want some of the intensities a lot of YA books have. FLUFFY.

Summary:

After a fun but disastrous kick off of their first fashion show, Petra, Janie, Charlotte, and Melissa are dealing with what happened. For Melissa that means doing everything earthly possible to find the person who trashed their label naming contest. While Charlotte is going through the aftermath of a break up with a guy she truly loved and Janie is dealing with the lack of the fabulous life she has while having a major crush on Charlotte's surfer cute brother. And Petra you may ask? Well, she's trying to figure out what to do with an earth shattering secret that could break up her parents marriage for good this time. Though, no matter what this girls will go through The Good, The Fab, and The Ugly with each other to achieve what they want most and to get through Winston Prep's annual Halloween bash.

Review:

While I liked Poseur, the prequel to The Good, The Fab, and The Ugly, I wasn't sure if I could live through another predictable and shallow book that I was sure to find in this. Surprisingly, after the first 100 and so pages it got interesting and the characters become a bit more real, leaving me to finish the book in a day. I enjoyed reading about the different situations the girls dealt with and the arguments they would get in with each other about their fashion label. Sadly, the writing wasn't that great and the plot could be described in one word: predictable. Overall, The Good, The Fab, and The Ugly by Rachel Maude is a quick read for girls looking for a book focused on fashion and some low key drama.

Halloween is nearing at Winston Prep, and the four girls of POSEUR decide it's time to introduce their very first accessory.

After some debate, they decide on a handbag that they will call the "Trick-or-Treater." Now, all that is left to do is to actually design and make the perfect bag before Halloween. Which doesn't give them a lot of time. And of course with Janie, Petra, Melissa, and Charlotte, nothing is ever simple.

Each girl has ideas for her own handbag, and when it comes to picking out the right one they all insist..."Mine is the best!" What are the girls to do?

There is also the task of trying to figure out who sabotaged their drawing for picking the name of their group at their release party. If they could just find one of those many tags that has POSEUR written across it, they may be able to find out who the culprit is.

There is also plenty of drama involving the guys of Winston Prep, and even one guy who doesn't go to the school but who will soon be connected in some way. And also, just the regular drama of life!

This was a great second book in the POSEUR series. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love each of the four girls and it's fun trying to picture what they're wearing. All of the drama makes you not want to put the book down, and the cute guys help, as well.

The ending left off at a very good spot for the next book to come in at. Therefore, I can't wait to get my hands on book three, PETTY IN PINK!

“It was, as they say, in the bag.”

That was a quote from a girlie, fashionable, amazing book, Poseur, by Rachel Maude. In this book there are four main characters that run a fashion label called Poseur. They all have to design a bag and vote on which bag is the best. Charlotte is the “popular girl,” she decides what is in and what is out. Charlotte also decides who is out and in. She was recently cheated on by Jake Farrish. Guess who is out? Unfortunately for Janie Farrish that means she is out too. Janie is another main character in the book. She is the artist in the fashion label and is, since her brother cheated on Charlotte, a nobody. Another main character, Melissa, is the publicist of the group. She handles almost everything. She likes things flashy and out there. Lastly there is Petra. Petra is an environmentalist and is one of the nicer girls. Which girl’s bag will win?

The author, Rachel Maude, uses very interesting and effective techniques when writing this book. Maude uses illustrations of the bags and the girls that in the book that Janie draws. She also gives descriptions of what everyone is wearing at the beginning of each chapter. These provide nice visual images. She also uses points of view from everyone, which gives a better understanding of the book.

I loved this book. It is humorous, fashion related, and has a very interesting plot. I would recommend it to every girl, especially if they like fashion.

I was surprisingly shocked at how much I loved this book. I never read the first one but I knew about the series and thought ehh, not sure if I'll read them. But I found this one at Half Priced Books for a buck! You cannot pass that up! So one day, I randomly picked the book up and started reading it. To describe it in a couple of words, it's The Clique series for high schoolers, just a maturer version. Instead of talking about loosing their lip virginity like in the clique series, they are actually talking about loosing their virginity in this series. But don't let that keep you from reading the series because there is no graphic scenes or anything like that. If you also like fashion or even if you don't you will still like this book. I really like fashion so I really liked reading about that also. The drama was super awesome and I really liked the characters, still can't figure out which one I liked more. I will be looking for the rest of the series including the first book at Half Price Books.

I don’t know why I love this series but I do. I’m not particularly interested in fashion, okay honestly I’m not interested in it at all. And the whole premise of this book is a fashion designing foursome. Christian Louboutin, Narcisco Rodriguez, Chopard... these words, they mean nothing to me. And yet, I can’t stop turning the pages. I even stashed this book in my purse in case I had a wait at the polls... which I didn’t! DANG IT!

I don’t particularly love any of the characters. But I still crave their story! How can Janie not know that Evan likes her!? Are Charlotte and Jake ever going to get back together!? And Petra has a midnight rendevous! This book was rolling in the boy drama. And if you must have drama at least make it boy drama!

It’s a fun and of course fabulous read! I can’t wait until the next title in the series Petty in Pink! Unfortunately it doesn’t hit the shelves until July 2009.

This is the second sequel to the book Poseur. Petra, Janie, Melissa and Charlotte finally overcame their differences and decided to work together to work or their fashion label, Poseur. Its October and Halloween came to Winston Prep. Poseur wants to come out and show off their first product from their label. They want to showcase a own of a kind Halloween bag. Petra, Janie, Melissa and Charlotte all have different styles and personalities and they cant seem to decide which design for their bag they should use. They all think that their design is better and they are stalling making the bag. They go through ups and downs and go through love interest, like any other high school teens. So who's bag will they choose. Read the book to find out, but they did come out with a bag called the trick-or-treater, but who's design was it.

This book is the sequal to the first book, Poseur. It continues the lives on Petra, Melissa, Charolette, and Janie. It starts off right after the first book, after the launch party for their new line, which was to be named by ballets. The girls decide to create a halloween inspired bag to launch their new line.
I loved this book, it was almost as good as the first! It incorporates fashion, drama and love. The use of pictures allow for a more realistic feel for the book and the tone makes it seem almost like your bestfriend is telling you a story. I recommend this book to anyone who read the first book and to all girls.

I liked this book but sometimes found it boring. It was too 'chik lit', and it was kind of shallow.
But it's entreataining and has very interesting characters. All the conflicts going on are fun to read also, and I lifke how the author writes from different points of view, not just from the perspective of one person.

I like this book since you know i already finished the first one and its funny and cool and im a girl all about fashion so the only way to get through this book is by understanding all the top fashion labels, like Loui Viton and BCBG and so much more but its pretty cool, and at the back there is HOW-To make a dress or different styles of clothing and how to make it!
