Scriptures to Success

Jesus Christ was rejected by a people who claimed a mastery of the scriptures. To them he "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal and they are they which testify of me" (John 5:39). This passage has blessings of scriptural study, but rather a rebuke to those who falsely supposed that their ability to quote scriptures assured them eternal life.
