As a born, bread and living urbanite, who loves the bustle of living in inner-city (Liverpool and Sheffield), I found this helpful. Although written for an Anglican audience, I felt it transfers well to the non-conformist situation. It also does you good to see the playing field from another persons position, especially when they are your partners, brothers and sisters.

Maybe a product of when it was written, it relies heavily on Fresh Expressions for its examples and main answer to the problem. I feel Expression should always be fresh and come naturally from those experiencing Christ within their own culture. Should (or can we) we from one culture manufacture a fresh expression of church for another culture?

I loved the closing quote "We need to stop selling worship as a consumer commodity and discover discipleship as a countercultural lifestyle."

We need to encourage new believers to create Fresh Expressions of Faith and Church, before they are molded and shaped by our own traditional forms.

I also like the "Light Handed" approach to ecumenical partnerships. I feel the best way churches can work together is from the ground up. Individuals who share a common burden for ministry e.g. Outreach, Schools Work, Social En devour etc. from different churches working together informally, with the encouragement and support of the churches they represent.

On the whole an excellent and inspiring books, that helped me see the issues faced by the Rural Christian community.

Very related to UK Anglican Parish structure, but some helpful insights into fresh expressions about being missionary in the changing church landscape
