Family drama is always a emotional issue with me but the rape of a 9 years old has me in my feelings ....the trauma, the storyline was interesting and exceptionally written ...Life true dilemmas but I still feel some type of way.... ...the characters was relatable I liked Dante and I loved the relationship he had with Tanya the rollercoaster of emotions the struggle to move on made this book more realistic the fear of Gabe was real and complex Michael identity crisis REAL.....GREAT READ I CAN RELATE
There were several stories or subplots in the book. I liked that the author included each in the epilogue so that nothing was left hanging. These characters went through a lot. Gambling, drugs, abuse, abandonment. Instead of giving up most of the characters found strength to persevere within themselves, through family, love or faith. I liked how the author highlighted that hope is the only thing stronger than fear.
This is a love story but not a romance! It’s not for the faint of heart (triggers everywhere) and it was super messy. There were so many heavy topics after awhile it felt like too much going on. I think that is why the book ended so abruptly. I felt cheated and the epilogue did not satisfy. Why taking me through a journey only to drop me off halfway there and just say they lived happily ever after”?
This was a helluva story of pain and redemption, love, forgiveness, understanding and growth. I think Ms Mills did a fantastic job making this story realistic and heartfelt. She was able to reach the heart and soul of the reader fortunate enough to read this amazing story. I recommend it to all who love to read.
What a ride, this story has pain, sadness, death, sorrow, regrets and love. The story is very intriguing and interesting with unforgettable characters. The story was a joy to read from start to finish. Great job by the author.
This had so many plots. Half the time I was pissed and disgusted, or baffled. Gabe and Tanya’s wasn’t really the focus. Then we had the instant love thing. I don’t know if I will read anything else by this author.
So much story for such a short book! More drama that a Soap Opera and I loved it. The only thing I didnt like was that some editing was required. And the were some minor time discrepancies.
This book touched on a very sensitive subject. It talked about the rape of a child, and how it messed her up mentally and physically. Tanya went through a lot and endured things that she shouldn't have had to go through at such a young age. As a result, she found it hard to love and trust anyone. I'm so glad that Gabe came into her life. There is truly a life lesson in this story.
I really enjoyed this story. It had a message, face your problems and deal with them. Gabe and Tanya worked it out!! Michael finally gave in to his feelings and decided what he wanted to make him happy!!. I love it!!
I love this book because it touched a lot of deep subjects. There was rape, prejudice, sacrifices, homosexuality, drinking and drugs. All of this in one story but it went so well together. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend that everyone reads this.
The story was good, it just took so long to tell the story. A viciously raped victim, who was black, her attacker was a racist white man. A few years later, she falls for a white man, after years of hating white men humh!
There were almost too many stories going on and not enough completed stories but the stories are interesting and this first time writer makes an impact. I enjoyed the story and would like to see a more streamlined story for a second novel but I did still enjoy this book.
