Illus. in full color. A simple text and detailed illustrations provide an ideal introduction to dinosaurs. "Pronunciations and interesting details are included. The author renders the scientific data relevant to young readers."-- School Library Journal.
this book made me so sad when i was a little girl. spoiler alert - the dinosaurs?? they go extinct at the end and it's wicked sad 'cuz they're all skeletal and just lying there like things that were once badass and are now dead. and it made me cry.
One doesn't need any other books to know everything they ever needed to know about dinosaurs. This book has taught many great minds all about dinosaurs, and I don't know if it is still in print, but it should be or we will have upcoming generations of dinosaursly retarded children. And that is bad.
I believe this book was my nephew's once upon a time. He was into dinosaurs, although I recall he was scared of the bed sheets my mother had purchased for him. He wouldn't sleep on them. :)
Anyhow, this is a cute book. It walks the reader through several different kinds of dinosaurs and explains their features. One thing I noted was that the author highlighted things that puzzles scientists. For instance, the head of Diplodocus was so small for the largest ever dinosaur that scientists do not know how it was able to consume enough food to live. I like that the author highlighted things like this. It is good for the reader to understand that science cannot explain everything.
I was just scanning dinosaur books for the one Z's been hooked on, and I completely remember the cover of this book! I guarantee we had it at my house 25 years or so ago and read it often! Memories...
