Very thorough exposition of everything you could want to know about clinical trials. Except, ironically, the thing I was actually interested in knowing about, which is filing and documentation.
Still, very interesting read, especially because of all the case studies. No matter what Pocock is talking about, he has at least one case handy to explain what he means and help make it all feel very common-sense. The parts about the history of clinical trials and what came before were in particular fascinating.
The book is from 83, so there's not a lot about using computer programs to help with the different aspects of the tests. Which is a shame, because I'm sure Pocock would have had a lot to say about it.
Obviously, even a whole book can't explain every aspect of clinical trials, but there's a lot of suggestions for further reading in the text itself, if you want to know more about a certain subject.
