Sienna Nealon has dedicated her life to keeping those with powers from breaking the law at will. After years of filling a prison for the powered called the Cube, a Supreme Court decision opens the floodgates and lets all of them out again. Now Sienna finds herself going from hunter to hunted as the US government turns a blind eye while the former inmates target her and her friends for death. With the attacks hitting closer and closer to home, will Sienna be able to fight back against the overwhelming odds before she – or someone she cares about – gets killed?
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
It really doesn't seem that long ago that I was reviewing book #9. And it wasn't! This author has an impressive production rate, and yet the quality never seems to dip.
I really should be starting to hate him a little bit on Sienna's behalf. I mean, leave aside the fact that she is underappreciated and her ex would like nothing more than to lock her up and throw away the key. But now, everything she has worked for is being undone.
Despite that, Sienna's growth continues, even though she faces extreme provocation and has to take steps in this book which leave her somewhat ... exposed. The question is - how much can she take before she reverts?
This is a shorter novel, though not by much. But it works. It fits. There is no padding, just the right number of words for the story which needs to be told. And although Crane once again leaves us hanging, there is something about his writing which keeps me coming back for more.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly, there were a lot of times that I wanted to stop reading just because I was so fucking pissed off.
Really, kudos to Crane, again, for a job well done. But do you have to make it so hard for our heroine to so much as breathe? God knows what more hell Sienna's going to go through since there are TEN MORE BOOKS in the series, but I sure am going to be here to read 'em all.
This is going to be the last book by this author I read. He is a sick, sadistic man who seems to really enjoy giving his female lead the beat down and flourishing all the male characters lives.
The five stars had to end I figured, but this early? So, this book pissed me off, and yes, I know the FBI can go unchecked for allowing criminals to run loose, but this has went overboard. Scott's problem with Sienna has just gotten out of control, and Harmon would have been blasted and a whistleblower would have spilled something on him by now! Finally, Sienna's family would not turn on her without allowing her to explain why she did what she did. So, I will be putting this series down for a bit and maybe come back to it.
I have been working my way through this whole series, and have been enjoying every one, however I haven oticed over the last couple of them that someone has become a bit sloppy on the ediitng.
There have been a few words missing in sentences or a few words round the wrong way. It does not take away from the enoyment of the storylines yet but if the editing gets worse as the series goes along it will start to do so.
I just love Sienna. Her thoughts her actions and of course he mouth ( the way she talks). I have lived all of the books so far. So this one was like her greatest hits all back again. Have to find out about Harmon and Cassidy now. So just continue on the Girl Out of the Box saga. Keep it up.
I really don't know what to say here. I get so annoyed at Sienna's insolent behavior, then really get angry when she does something like this. I'd have walked away and never looked back, not until the whole world was on their knees begging. Even then I might not listen.
I have read the 10 books in the box and 10 books out of the box but I think this book has killed my love of the series, its just beyond even the fiction it is meant to be and gone too far into stupid for me
One of the most devastating books I have read in this series. I feel so bad for Sienna as she tries to save the people who have turned against her still is being beaten down by everyone.
Pres. Harmon uses the prisoners to go after Sienna when a Supreme Court ruling empties the Cube. This was quite an emotional page turner. I really want to throttle some of these characters! Can't wait to find out what happens next.
Emotionally this chapter in the meta universe really got to me. I found myself feeling picked on and depressed like I was actually the heroine. Good writing. Good characters. Open ending as always :)
This one took a fair while to get started and then it seemed to drag out the wrong things. I’m hoping it’s just set up for book 21 and they’re will be plenty more drama to follow. Especially after that ending!
Another great story! This has been non stop action with unexpected plot. You have done again great job on this story. I purchased this book four at A time because I know in won't be disappointed!
I know this is a just a book but I am getting tired of Sienna feeling like she HAS TO help and protect people who turn on her and don’t believe in her. Let the bad metas’ turn on the people and then they will see. I am sure you can make a book series out of that.
Wow lick a person when Rastafarian is one thing but... Is this to be the end of the Girl in / out of the box? Who will be the next one we can sink our hearts and minds too. Shocked me a bit this one.
Wow! This book or chapter of this series just took a dramatic turn of plot that was completely unexpected. It continues to be a suspense filled series and I look forward to reading the next book.
Sienna's life is turned upside down and inside out. The cube is gone, the metas out on the streets. All the street's seem to lead to the same place. Sienna.
I took a break from reading this series for a bit. But am back into them and fully engrossed on completing the series this time around. I find them to be addictive.
I really am enjoying this whole series. I like how it just keeps continuing on but stops with one book. It keeps you guessing where it is going to go next.
