This guide to creative non-fiction nature writing addresses themes useful to the general writer as well as those aspects specific to Nature Writers. The chapters are short, specific, and helpful with concrete examples from the texts of the genre. It would be most useful in the context of a class on nature writing with weekly workshops of participants' writings. It does not have the extensive and excellent suggestions for exercises and assignments that Writing About Nature has making it less useful for the writer lacking a workshop or for a teacher developing such a course. The two books cover remarkably similar ground yet the authors' voices are remarkably distinct.
Loved this Book. I found it very inspirational, and packed with a lot of good material to get me going. David Peterson was very on point and summed everything up perfectly. It’s geared for the nature style essay but overall the advice is good for writing for any kind. It does touchup on this more though, so if someone is looking for that genre, this book is perfect and I really like his two little paw prints to separate certain parts of it. That was so cute.
