A whole family is wiped out with a shotgun. At first glance, it's an open-and-shut case. The dad did it, then killed himself. The deaths follow at least two, similar, family wipeouts - both attributed to the financial crash. So why doesn't that sit right with Detective Inspector Yvonne Giles? And why has a rape occurred in the area, in the weeks preceding each family's demise? Her seniors do not believe there are questions to answer. DI Giles must go it alone, in a high-stakes race to investigate a mysterious masonic ring and players in high finance. Can she find the answers, before the next innocent family is wiped out?
I found this book from an ad on Facebook, throught I would give it a go and it based in Wales being a Welsh girl I like to see if I can recognise the sites .I was really impressed with the writing style and the story .The connection between all the Characters is still developing and each character is still finding there place in the books .The story was easy to follow and enjoyable .I am going to start at the beginning of the series now .
I am beginning to like DI Giles. A complex character, who has grown more real in each book. My only gripe is that as a DI she seems to almost deliberately not follow up on clues that would ring alarm bells in anyone with any sense. Couldn't put it down despite that.
Another great book in this collection, it can be fast paced at time's & Other times a bit slow but when it starts to get flowing there is no stopping it as it seems to pull everything together half way through the book. Grab this fabulous collection & find out for yourself.
Another great book in the series with DI Giles who's on the case of a whole family murdered . Set on the border of Wales which is a great setting, the story flows easily and is difficult to put down. Love Yvonne Giles and her way of getting a result.
I love di Yvonne Giles, she is very perceptive and has sympathy for those around her. I love these books and can’t wait to read the next. The storylines are excellent.
I really enjoy Anna-Marie's crime novels as they're easy to read and have a good story, helped along by the characters. I also enjoy the fact that unlike many crime novels its not all about the detective, learning her trauma's, her life, her love life etc. There's a little of that (it is the third novel in the series after all) but it does not over take the story line. For me, I also enjoyed it because its set in the area I grew up, with places and names I recognise (makes a change from all the other crime novels I read, most of them set in America). The only reason I gave this only four stars, not five, is the ending. It almost seemed to happen too quickly, and a bit out of sync with the rest of the book. You'll have to read it yourself to see if you agree. Thank you Anna, please keep writing!
