Unrequited love.

Ryan Harper used to love a girl named Jade Forsyth, until she chose someone else...

Another good read from Amity Cross .

Like all previous books in this series one of the main characters is a fighter; Ryan is eager to have a shot at his career, a named fight to get him on the ladder, he lives and breaths training and fighting.

Jade; a workaholic, has a good job, a loaded fiancé she has been with since Highschool, along with the same highschool friendships and everything she thought she wanted until she finds her fiancé in her own bed with someone else, discovers her friends weren't friends at all and her job wasn't worth it.

Jade meets Ryan the night she is walking the streets with her suitcase, Highschool friends reunited, Ryan was always the go between with her on off Highschool boyfriend who admired from afar and always wanted more but never got the girl.

Was history repeating itself?

Rush is a journey of self discovery sifting out the bad in your life, rising up from the Ashes, new birth and discovering real love.

A well balanced out read told in dual pov's that has all a reader could want in a fighter romance, hotness, a captivating and great plot, likeable main characters and not so nice secondary characters you just love to and can't help but hate and it all leads to a well deserved hea.

I loved Ryan, the loveable fighter, who finally got his victory in and out of the octagon.
A great addictive series and as always well written by Amity Cross.

I’m a huge fan of Amity Cross’ The Beat and the Pulse series. Cross’ AUFC fighters are hardworking, dedicated men who have never had anything handed to them…they work for EVERYTHING and EARN what they deserve by their constant need to be the best. And, the fact that Cross finds a way to match these heroes up with their “perfect” women is also what makes this series a must-read. Because at first glance, the central couple seems to have nothing in common and come from quite different worlds, but once Cross strips them bare and shows readers who they are at their core, even when it takes a bit to illustrate that idea, it becomes clear why Cross paired them up in the first place and how they seem to balance one another out and teach each other how life is meant to be lived.

Jade and Ryan’s story is the ninth book in the series, so while there are some cameos of past heroes and heroines, the focus has branched out to the fighters Ash is training at Pulse Fitness, but knowing Ash’s background helps to understand the kind of men he works with, so none of them are going to be lightweights who can’t hold their own…all of them are contenders, willing to risk it all for one shot to prove their worth, and Amity Cross’ newest hero, Ryan Harper, seems to epitomize that idea when it comes to life and love.

I’m going to be upfront about Jade…some readers are not going to like her; in fact, they might dislike her so much that they won’t give her a chance to grow and realize the errors of her ways…admittedly, a few points along the way while reading Rush, I thought I was going to be that reader…the one who couldn’t see past her shortcomings because she had a difficult time shedding them and learning from her mistakes, even when she had no other choice but to grow from the disaster of her life. But, I stuck with her, knowing that her diva attitude and shallow needs have been ingrained in her for over a decade, allowing her to feel that materialism and self-entitlement are the norms to live by, and it’s not until she reaches rock bottom, which is way after her fiancé cheats on her, that she realizes the true error of her ways and sets about rectifying her mistakes, even if her lack of awareness costs her the one real person who’s been with her since the beginning.

Ryan Harper is an intriguing hero, quite simply because he found a way to turn his younger selves’ recklessness into something constructive as an adult, and he accomplished it on his own terms, without becoming someone he’s not or someone who doesn’t understand the value of hard work. He definitely has the right perspective when it comes to how to live life and who to surround himself with, and while the feelings he’s had for Jade have laid dormant for 10 years, one interaction with her springboards them to the surface, forcing him to either take the risk he wouldn’t take all those years ago or walk away again, knowing that he never got the chance to prove his worth to her and show her that he’s definitely better than second best.

Rush is a great title for Jade and Ryan’s story; Jade has rushed through life since she felt that materialism and the façade of perfection was what was important, becoming a picture perfect image of shallowness and entitlement, never truly understand how life was meant to be lived. In high school, Ryan always rushed to Jade’s side when she took a break from her boyfriend or needed help, in a way, becoming her second choice when her first one tossed her aside, and as an AUFC fighter, he wants to rush his pro career because he’s ready for a shot at a title match and while he’s impatience is easily understood, the perspective he helps Jade to have would also help him to know his chance will come on its own terms, not just his.

Rush -- The Beat and The Pulse BOOK 9
Amity Cross

5 stars

So this is glorious book 9 in The Beat series. These can be read as standalones so no fear if you are behind. However I recommend you click them all up.

Jade Forsyth is a work a holic but today her boss has told her go home. Take a break -- have some fun. She doesn't even remember that word or how to. In fact her whole life she has been working. Working to pay for college, working to go flying up the corporate ladder. Her finance expects it. He has a certain type of woman he wants on his arm. Wanting to please him she is the perfect woman or at least is trying to be ... so why did she just find him in their bed with another woman? Shattered .. no where to go and no one to turn to -- her high society friends as they call themselves are not really her friends .. what now.

Ryan Harper cant believe his eyes -- Jade standing alone on the sidewalk and looking lost? Where in the world did she come from. He was the bad boy who was always in the friend zone. Not good enough -- no enough money -- never going to happen back in the day and not likely now but leaving an old friend in need is not what Ryan is about. He just wont fall back into the Jade trap. He has too much on his plate waiting for his shot at the PROs.

I LOVED this book -- This was not the fall head over heels in love and thank you hot dude and sassy girl who is put in her place. NOPE ... this is a fall from high society what you think is important and getting slapped into reality story and I LOVE IT. I wanted to beat the hell out of Jade myself. I don't belong on her side of the tracks so reading a character like her just keeps me turning the pages waiting for the fall and the I'm so stupid I should have seen then what I see now. YUP!

Ryan is the most genuine and glorious character. He heart is huge -- his will is strong and yet he doesn't let the woman he cant forget use him. I also love that we get to hear from old friends .... yes ... yes we do! WHOOP WHOOP! If you cant tell I'm a huge fan of this series. I couldn't be more thrilled with this release. Great story line and exceptional read.

Thank you for the ARC -- Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

RUSH is book 9 in Amity Cross’ The Beat and the Pulse series – each book featuring a different MMA fighter. And what a wonderful addition this book is.

Ryan Harper fell for Jade Forsyth many years ago, but she never saw more in him than a good friend. She chose someone else, someone more sophisticated, more loaded. Now, about a decade later, Ryan still suffers from this unrequited love. He was never able to truly let go of Jade, never been able to really love another woman than her, who always has been out of his league. And now she unexpectedly enters his life once again – with a high possibility for the history to repeat itself…

Jade: A strong-willed businesswoman through and through. A workaholic. But oh my god, the times she grated on my nerves. So shallow, so blind as she was at times. It takes her to lose it all – wealthy fiancé, friends she thought were on her side and an amazing job included – for her to wake up. And only after that was I able to finally warm up to her.

Ryan: A determined fighter impatiently waiting for his shot at a professional fight to finally get a name for himself – and for that he is training day and night. Oh, he made me swoon! What a wonderful character he was! A guy who has to work for his success and money rather than everything falling right into his lap. How much he cared about Jade after everything she blindly did to him… The times I wanted to scream at Jade and slap some sense into her were uncountable! How could she not see what was right before her eyes?? My heart broke for Ryan for every blow she – mostly unknowingly – delivered.

This is not a boy-meets-girl-and-they-live-happily-ever-after kind of story where everything falls into place almost too easily, no. They have to work for their happy ending – a lot. It is a story about discovery and recognizing the things that really are important in life. It is sexy, well-written and fast-paced – another great read from Amity Cross!

4.5 stars for - Rush - book nine in The Beat and The Pulse series by Amity Cross. Nine books into this enigmatic series and I am still hooked - loving all the fighters that come out of the gyms not just better athletes, but better men too. Amity slowed this one down a bit and made it into a sweet tale of unrequited love that I devoured in one sitting. This book is a stand-alone and can be read completely separate from the series.
Ryan Harper fell in love with Jade Forsyth in high school but never had the nerve to do anything about it. Ryan always admired Jade from afar as she dated others and hung out with the "cool kids". Ryan being from a modest background was on the outside looking in all throughout high school. Ryan has worked his way up as a successful fighter and he is on track to become a professional fighter. While out training he runs into the one person he has never forgotten... Jade.
Jade Forsyth is the epitome of business chic with a very busy career. She has a rich fiancé that she has been with for years and friends she has known forever. Every thing in her life comes crashing down when she comes home to find her fiancé in bed with her friend. As she packs up and leaves him she runs into a boy she knew in high school that was always kind to her and even now he offers to help her. Jade's life systematically self-destructs and she literally has no idea how things will ever be the same until Ryan steps in to reassure her.
This was probably one of the best books to date in this series since it was so unexpected. I loved the chemistry and passion Ryan and Jade had mixed with the fighting and a happily ever after to make you swoon. Can't wait for the next one in this ever evolving series :)

Second chance romance, unrequited love and a girl that has to lose it all before she realises what she has always had Rush, the ninth book I'm this series is a heart warming softer read. A great addition to the series it's a story about a boy that wasn't brave enough to tell the girl that won his heart how he felt until it was too late and she became the bench mark for anyone else to be measured against. She instead grabbed into the ideal, the rich jock who seemed perfect but was actually only interested in his own self advancement. Jade finds herself alone and at rock bottom when she discovers he has cheated on her, no longer getting married she find herself homeless and friendless as she slowly realises her life is empty. Bumping into a fade from the past he teaches her how to live in the moment rather than plan for a tomorrow that might never come. But can he make her see that everything she wants is being offered to her or will it be too late?

A story of self discovery, of embracing your mistakes and learning from them I think the storyline is very angst filled and at times I was very frustrated by her...he's hot and adorable and oh so sexy why fight it! Ryan is everything you hope to find in your man. He has loved her for so long and really will do anything for her no matter how shirt sighted she is. Waiting for his opportunity to make himself known in the big leagues he can lose his focus but she has him twisted up in knots. He has it all to fight for but can he win big in and out of the ring or will she realise too late? The will they won't they plotline kept this series fresh, a little less of the fighting and more romance it's a slow burn of a live story that was a sweet addition to this established series. Thoroughly enjoyable Amity Cross once again delivers a perfect escape with her loveable and swoon worthy alpha males and the women who steal their hearts.

A four star love is a rush read.

Another fantastic book in the Beat and Pulse series!! I love this series and this author. This is Ryan's story and what a story it is. He used to be in love with Jade Foster but he walked away all those years ago as she was with someone else.
Ryan is on the verge of making it in the world of professional MMA, he is just waiting for a suitable apponant to fight! Ash (swoon) is his coach. I like to see Ash and Ren make an appearance, I do love those two, it's like one big family that even I feel a part of!
Jade Foster finds herself in a desperate situation one day and has a chance encounter with the one and only Ryan Harper. As Jade has been very money orientated it's all materialistic things, she had her life mapped out, but when that doesn't go according to plan and something happens to her perfect life, she is left not knowing what to do!
After their chance meeting Ryan is under no doubt his feelings for Jade are still there and she is completely oblivious to this fact. Will she realise in time and stop thinking about herself for long enough to realise what's right in front of her? Will Ryan stick around or walk away? I love Ryan and my heart hurt for him and what he was going through. At one point I nearly put my kindle down in fear of what was going to happen. Ryan maybe in love but he's not stupid, he has certain women summed up, which I thought was great! I feel like I could just ramble on and tell you everything.
I do love this series it's very close to my heart and I couldn't recommend it enough

Full Review to come soon.

I really enjoyed Ryan and Jade's story.

Rush was a wonderful addition to The Beat and The Pulse series. Ryan is one the latest fighters training with Ash, looking to be the next Fighter, just waiting on the fight to come. Ryan's looking towards the future, excited about where he's going. And then the past finds its way back, in the form of the girl, now woman, he has loved forever. The girl who never knew.

Jade thought her life was perfect, thought she had everything she wanted - and then it shatters and Jade's left realizing everything she thought she had wasn't what she thought it was. When she runs into a former friend, Ryan, who offers to help her, Jade takes him up on it.

While spending time together, Ryan's feelings come back to the surface, and Jade is learning fast that the things she thought she wanted, aren't all she thought they were. She's looking to find out who she is now and who she really wants to be.

There's a lot for Jade to work through and as her life seems to be getting hit hard and changing drastically, she's working to figure it all out. Ryan's there, and he's offering her help, and she can't help but feel another connection to him, but Jade doesn't know what to believe after all these years.

There's quite a journey for these two, Ryan is trying to help Jade and show her what kind of life she could have, while also helping her through the emotions she's discovered at realizing her life isn't what she really wanted. There's a lot to go through for these two, and a lot they have to realize for themselves and work out together.

The chemistry between them is strong though and pulls you in to the story. Leaving you rooting for them to figure it all out and find their love is strong enough. It was a fun twist for the unrequited love to be on the male's part - but it really worked in this story. Ryan's feelings for Jade were clear from the beginning, even when he was hurt or upset, he clearly hadn't lost any of them.

I enjoyed watching as Jade grew and changed and as she figured out who her real friends were and the kind of person she really wanted to be. How she changed her focus on what made her happy and who she loved. She let go of her past expectations and focused on her feelings.

I absolutely love this series. This is the ninth book in the series. It is a stand alone, but this series is fantastic. You’ll be missing out on some great reads if you don’t read them all.

Ryan is great. He is one of my new book boyfriends. He is an amazing guy and he really shows it in this book. He is now a professional AUFC fighter. He’s just waiting for his first fight.

Jade is the girl that he’s been in love with since highschool, but walked away from. He needed to do that, for himself. She wasn’t good for him then.

Hmm, now my feelings about Jade. She’s very materialistic, shallow, and blind to things right in front of her face.

Now I did feel bad for her because of what she found Hunter doing, and what he continued to do after the fact.

Ryan showed her what being “real” is. She was completely fake.

It took her hitting rock bottom to realize what was right under her nose the whole time.

I did like the changes she made in herself, but I want Ryan for myself! (shh don’t tell my husband I said that).

Well what can I say, except bloody brilliant as always.
Rush is book 9 in The Beat and Pulse Series and is Ryan's story
A second chance love story that shows maybe losing everything you thought was important in your life could be the best thing that has ever happened to you.

Ryan Harper is an up and coming MMA Fighter he's just waiting on his first big fight in his bid to becoming a champion. He first fell for Jade Forsyth whilst they were still in school he wasn't forthcoming in his feelings for her but she decided she wanted more than Ryan could give her at the time, she wanted it all, a successful career, rich boyfriend and to be part of the 'it' crowd where her friends were concerned. Now almost a decade later and everything Jade has lived for is falling apart around her ears and once again Ryan is there to help her pick up the pieces. Is this finally his chance to tell Jade exactly how he feels about her or is the past about to repeat itself.

What began as a slow building of their relationship quickly turned into a rush of chest tightening emotional pull. Amity Cross has written a book that focused more on her characters growth and reaching their highest potential so they can achieve the love that we know is there. And it was an amazing road to be on with Jade and even Ryan.

There are character that a reader will want to strangle with barbells and ones that will make readers wish were theirs to keep but in the end they made this story a fantastic one. They all made it full of huge emotion whether it was murderous intent, grief or lust. I loved the ending and the connection to one of my favorite romcons.

Though this is book 9 of the series it is a standalone and can be completely enjoyed on its own. But who wants to live without reading the others in the series! This is one book I would definitely recommend to all who enjoy a romance high on emotion and a little lower on heat.

This is slightly different to other books in the series in that it does not really revolve around the gym but it focuses more on the two main characters Ryan and Jade but it doesn't detract from the series.
Second chance love romances are a favourite of mine when that's combined with unrequited love I'm all in. Ryan loved Jade in school but he never had the courage to make a move and he lost her to someone else. When Jade's life falls apart she bumps into Ryan and for him it brings all those feelings rushing back but she's still oblivious.
Ryan is just dreamy he's tough and strong he's had to be to get where he is. Jade is a woman who on the outside has it all but she got there because she worked hard.
I loved this story it has heartbreak but it is really a story about finding out who you are and fighting for who you want.

With a title like Rush, this story slows the pace and is about unrequited love. A chance meeting with a woman that he loved from a distance brings back memories and feelings within Ryan but with his career teetering on breaking through dose he have time to dredge up the past?

Jade has just had the shock of her life and realises that the people who she thought were her friends really are not. Being use to the high life she is in for a major shock and bumping into a blast from the past can either be a blessing or a curse. Either way she has not hit rock bottom......yet.

This book was just as much about Jade's growth as a person as it is about Ryan and his self development and career progress. At times I was frustrated and just wanted Jade to open her eyes to what was happening around her. Mixed messages and hidden feelings left the characters confused and I wanted to bash their heads together, but then that's the beauty of stories, they make you feel.

All in all I really enjoyed this latest release from Amity and look forward to the next in the series.

I was provided an ARC by the author for an honest review.

Book 9 in The Beat and The Pulse series, Rush, is another great read. Our h, Jade, was so hard on herself and seemed to be her own worst enemy before putting herself on the right track. She had some major blinders on and my heart just broke for her. Our H, Ryan, is a willing to work for what he wants hero, in his struggles to attain his fighting goals, and personal ones. I enjoyed this addition to the series and would recommend to any reader of this genre.

Emotional rollercoaster

This book made me cry real tears. I was so invested in the characters, and that to me makes this book worth more than 5 stars. Their struggle was so real, both as individuals and as a couple. The writing style was engaging, some sexy scenes, good villains and some great cameos of characters from previous books in the series. All in all this book was amazing and I read it in one day!

The Beat & The Pulse series is one of my favorite romances. It's so easy to get wrapped up in this world of perfectly flawed characters.

This installment is considerably less steamy than the ones before it. The romance in this one is torture. Ryan is so easy to love. Jade is probably my least favorite heroine. But, as far as grand gestures go, that was pretty risky for someone like her.

Although this is the ninth book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. It is a wonderfully written story, with interesting characters and a novel plot line. This is a book you will not want to put down. Pick up this book, curl up in your chair, and lose yourself in a great story.

Unrequited love is a b!tch. But what would you do if the person you had been in love with for years fell back into your life.

That is the question Ryan Harper needs to answer.

Ryan and Jade's story isn't an easy one. Their history isn't all sweet, and their present is anything but hearts and flowers.

But oh did I want it to be! I adore Jade, I really do. But I did want to slap some sense into her at times, make her wake up and smell the roses, see what is in front of her, pull her head out off her a$$.

Ryan - he is all kinds of swoonworthy. I was talking to Jade (well, OK I was talking to myself) whilst I was reading, telling her that if she didn't want Ryan I would gladly take him off her hands!

This story though - boy, did it have me in all kinds of a mess. It had me in tears, it had me rigid with rage, it had me wanting to throw my kindle across the room - all signs of a good book to me!

Told in dual POV, Rush is well balanced, giving us great insight to both our MCs thoughts and motivations, and kept me wanting more.

Please Ms Cross, I need more of this series. Please don't leave me waiting too long!

What a sweet read about two people who grew up together but she chose a different path. Jade has it all now, everything she ever wanted, or did she? Ryan was the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but he's all grown up now and making a life for himself! When a chance meeting happens, will it finally be their chance, or will their pasts dictate their future.
5 stars for this one, it was well written and you will love it!

I loved watching Jade grow and develop and seeing Ryan's self doubt made my heart hurt. Fantastic dynamic between the characters and an amazing story. Amity keeps one upping herself with each new book. Absolutely brilliant work from an incredibly talented author.
