Nate Wright’s a winner—in his own mind, anyway. So when things go wrong, he’s at a loss to explain why. How does his soccer team manage to lose to a school with a sixty-game winless streak? What’s he doing at the movies on a Friday night . . . with GINA? And why, oh why is one of his classmates ( she’s Nate’s dream girl) suddenly moving 3,000 miles away? It’s all enough to make a sixth-grade superstar feel . . . well, not so super. But you can’t keep a good man down, and Nate’s still got pals like Teddy, Francis, and Chad to cheer him up. Sure, their methods aren’t always warm and fuzzy, but Nate doesn’t mind. After all, what’s a little noogie between friends?
Lincoln Peirce is a cartoon artist from Portland, Maine. He lives with his wife and two children, and occasionally gives lectures to students about cartoon creating. Peirce writes the comic strip "Big Nate". Peirce's comic strip, Big Nate, is featured as an island on the famous children's website, Poptropica. Big Nate appears as the first cartoon on The Maine Sunday Telegram in the comics section.
He studied art at Colby College in Maine were he began cartooning. He also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture before teaching art and coaching basketball at a New York highschool for 3 years. He currently plays hockey with "an old men's league" and describes it as his best sport as a child. In an interview with the Washington Post, Peirce stated that his last name is pronounced "purse" and is not a misspelling of "pierce."
Lincoln Peirce was a member of the "Surviving as a Print Cartoonist" Panel at the Maine Comics Art Festival with fellow cartoonists Corey Pandolph (Barkeater Lake, Toby: Robot Satan, The Elderberries), Norm Feuri (Retail, Gill) and with Mike Lynch moderating. On the panel Lincoln revealed he is currently working with some animation and licensing projects including the addition of a Big Nate island to the online game Poptropica.
Loads of funny stuff between Nate's team losing the match by a loser team to Nate's accidental date-night with Gina (Gah!) but I was really sad to see Jenny go...please tell me she will be back!
this was a good book and i liked it very much because of the silly jokes and silly title. It was my 5th favorite book it the whole big nate series and I am happy that lincoln pierce decided to release yet another book in his humorous series. It is too bad he didn't include the comic about the mouse that wants cheese because that one is super funny. Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Like if you agree.
A collection of Big Nate shorts, the gags are repetitive, but harmless and fun nonetheless. It's not a particularly memorable selection, however, the target audience will no doubt get a laugh here and there. Those who know the series will pretty much get exactly what they expect with this one.
I always love this series and I didn't read any newest copy during 2k16. But now, I've got this one. Still funny and entertaining, but I hope one day Mr.Peirce would give Nate a girlfriend. I felt sorry for him when Teddy and Francis (and also Arthur) doing double dates *smirk*
I received this copy for free through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
'Big Nate: What's a Little Noogie Between Friends?' by Lincoln Peirce is another consistently great entry in this series.
From school picture day to losing to the worst team around, Nate's life isn't easy. There is tabletop football and teaching nerdy little bookworm Peter how to play hockey. This time around, he also has to say goodbye to Jenny as well. Will she finally actually like Nate?
I've enjoyed every one of these collections. The humor is consistent throughout the series. It's a good one for younger readers (and apparently some older ones as well).
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Nate Wright is back with his off the cuff hi-jinks, and laugh out loud antics. Crushing news for Nate, his soccer team loses to a team suffering a five year losing streak, he can't find a date to the movies, and ends up sitting next to Gina, and to make matters worse his long time crush, Jenny, is moving to Seattle. Not to worry though, Nate is never one to stay in the dumps, but he's still not getting a dog for Christmas.
It was another great Big Nate book! I felt really bad for Him (No Spoilers) When She (No Spoilers) left. I wonder if I get a girlfriend, she will move 3,000 miles away.
The Big Nate book series have always been one of my favorite book series. All the books have many silly jokes that'll make you laugh. Although its more on the easy side it is definitely a book series you'll enjoy reading. I love the graphics this book has, they are very detailed and its easy to read the image and connect it to the text.
It reminds me of a Diary of a Wimpy kid but in my opinion Big Nate books are better. It mostly takes place in his school where he is always up to his antics with his best friends Teddy and Francis who tend to let Nate do his own thing I think Lincoln Peirce did achieve his goal in writing this it made me laugh I loved this book which is why I gave it a 5 stars rating and I think everyone in this class should read it because it honestly a great book.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
My oldest daughter is almost ten years old, and she loves Big Nate comics. Needless to say, she was very excited about being able to read What’s a Little Noogie Between Friends?
Nate is a fairly typical middle school boy. He goes to school, plays sports, and spends time with his friends. He has a reputation as a slacker, and this forms the basis for most of the jokes in the book. Peirce does not present an idealized version of school life; Nate makes mistakes and is sometimes the punchline rather than the one doling out the jokes. Nate is a very real character, and that’s what makes him so fun to read about.
This is a typical comic strip collection. Each page is divided into panels- most of the pages have 4 panels, but some have 8 panels. The book contains several story arcs- one involves Nate babysitting, and another involves Nate on the basketball team. These stories take place over several pages of panels, but there is always a small punchline in the last panel of each page.
My daughter really enjoyed reading this book, and she read it in one sitting. She said that it was very funny, and that other kids would like this book because it talks about school and things that kids can relate to. She also asked when the next Big Nate book was coming out.
I would recommend Big Nate: What’s a Little Noogie Between Friends? This book will appeal to fans of the Big Nate comic strip, as well as to children in elementary/middle school who can relate to Nate’s predicaments. Peirce’s style and humor are reminiscent of Calvin and Hobbes and Foxtrot, and my daughter is already looking forward to the next Big Nate book.
The the book that I read and am writing this review about is for the book big nate what's a little noogie between friends. I really like this book because it is really funny.
This is a fiction story about a boy and his friends and the boy is named nate. Nate is a troublemaker at school and has a major crush on a girl named jenny. Nate is really jealous of a foreign exchange student named Artur. Artur is now dating Jenny and nate is really mad because Artur is better that him at everything. Artur thinks that him and nate are friends but nate doesn’t like artur because he always beats him and he’s dating nate’s crush. Sadly for Nate and Artur Jenny is moving to seattle and she cannot be with either of them.
I really enjoyed this book because it was a good story and it made me laugh a lot. I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 because I really love this series and I have read big nate for a while and Its been some of my favorite books.
I would recommend this book to everyone who is looking for a funny book to read. That is my review on big Nate what's a little noogie between friends.
My 11 year old loves reading Big Nate and often stays up past his bedtime to read 'just one more page'. He loved Nate's shenanigans and found them laugh out loud funny. This time around, there were some touching moments as well which gave us an opportunity to have meaningful discussions.
As a mom, I love how many issues facing elementary and middle school children at this moment are dealt with through comedic relief and camaraderie. If you have a child that isn't a reader, I urge you to try Big Nate. An funny and entertain read.
this is just one of many Big Nate books I have read. I like this book because it is another book about a kid surviving school. It is easy to relate to the problems that Nate faces. Nate has goofy friends that he hangs out with. They try to make him feel better about the stuff he is going through. The book is funny and easy to read.
Love the ambient colors and story.it leaves an impact on the character and really shows you what the mind of a sixth grader that's a trouble maker would be. It also has great choices and selections in this bunch of comics. Worth every penny.
Confession: this is the first Big Nate book I have ever read. With readers of all ages clamoring for them, these books generally don’t need much marketing, so I’ve never needed to. But when a few third grade fellas i’m particularly fond of asked me to give one a try, I decided it was time to get to know the boy behind the lines at the circulation desk. But I’m left with just one question - has Big Nate always been this… mean? He’s not really nice to his friends (but that is definitely mutual), to girls, to his dad, to his sister. The teacher in me kept expecting some sort of moral or growth at the end, but I guess that’s not really what Big Nate is about. Entertaining and quick, I can see why boys go for them. I don’t really understand the format - random stand-alone comics in the middle of what is seemingly a storyline - but they’re funny and entertaining. I’ve become quite a graphic novel snob, and choosing Big Nate from our extensive collection feels a bit like reaching past a homecooked meal for a pack of Ramen. If you’re looking for comedy with a bit more depth and heart, I’d go for Hilo, Amulet, the Babysitter’s Club, or anything by Victoria Jamieson before Big Nate. (If your kiddo truly loves them, don’t forget - we have the whole set in Spanish, too!)
