Nanami has successfully helped Tomoe free himself from his curse, and now things should be happy-go-lucky, right? After all, Nanami and all her friends are heading out on a high school trip, the cliche of shojo manga for funny hijinks and romantic moments.

I adore Kamisama Kiss for a variety of reasons, not the least of which for its delightful character development. We've gotten to know Himemiko, Kurama, and Yukiji's stories. We've even gotten to see Mizuki's Yonomori before her village no longer needed her. Now, we are getting to know Nanami's friends a little more as their roles expand in the story. Ami has been kidnapped and Nanami braves all to rescue her friend.

True to form, Nanami jumps into situations without truly thinking through all the repercussions. And, while she has grown as a kamisama, she still has a lot to learn. Tomoe is bound to her more strongly than ever as evidenced by his desire to learn to live in the human world, but it feels like Nanami forgets that she is no longer living for just herself anymore. She's neglecting her fox, and I'm already concerned that her lifespan is shortened now that she no longer has Ryu-oh's eye. Add that to what happens with Akura-oh, and I'm worried that we're going to see a flip in the story where Tomoe will need to go to great lengths to save Nanami this time. She is a kamisama, though, so perhaps her life is protected. Time will tell. I just wish that I didn't have to wait until this fall to see what will happen next!!

Okay, so now that the best arc in the series is over, things are back to normal, and while it is slightly less interesting, it doesn't make this manga bad. It is seriously awesome, as per usual, and I love the focus on Kirihito ('cause he's one of my favourite characters). I love seeing more of him, especially while interacting with Nanami and pretending that he's more evil than he really is. Also, the kiss(es) were wild. Like, I did not see the first one coming. I was flipping pages back and forth, screaming, "DID I MISS SOMETHING HERE?!" Until, that is, later on when it was explained that he was just taking her life energy.
Also, that end scene? Beautiful. Tomoe showing up like a wrathful god ready to smite down some ants? Yes. Possible Akurah-oh and Tomoe reunion? Si, por favor. I really hope Kirihito finally reveals himself. Speaking of which, Nanami got it! She finally figured it out. She's smarter than I gave her credit for smh.
I love that the yokai revealed themselves to Nanami's friends, but Kurama was like "Lol, no. Me? A yokai? Please! I'm a wonderful, beautiful human--" Kei: "I don't give a damn go save my friend Ami you loser."
Basically, I'm so excited for the next volume. It's sitting on my nightstand, ready to go. Unfortunately, I'm a tad busy (against my will) at the moment, so I'll have to wait to start it *Cries*

Last volume I was afraid the rest of the series would go down hill after passing up an excellent place to end.

I see I was wrong.

So far, the continuation is worth it. Seems like Nanami's friends are going to find out the crazy Yokai stuff, yada yada yada.

I'm not sure where this will be going now, but so far I'm enjoying the ride.

Nanami has a big heart, but she can be a bit dumb and be a total airhead. Why did she have to do that.?!?!

There will be SPOILERS in this review!

And we’re back to filler. This volume was fine but it’ll be hard for this story arc to live up to what we just witnessed. Besides, it’s hard to expect the same level of quality from something that is essentially filler before the conclusion that will probably include Akura and Tomoe.

Half of this volume is just Nanami and Tomoe studying and it’s fine but again, nothing special, just filler. What I do have to say is that I feel like the author got better at tying things together and making these seemingly unimportant parts fit into the overall picture better than at the beginning of the manga. Oh, and it’s also really wholesome to see Nanami and Tomoe studying together now that they are finally together.

The Okinawa part is actually quite cool. I like that we actually have stakes with Ami going missing and Nanami trying to get her back. I also love that Ami and the other friend are now learning about the yokai and basically what Nanami’s world is like. We also have Kirihito here who is dying and needs Nanami’s energy and I hate the fact that he keeps kissing her to do it. But hey, she finally realized this guy is actually Akura so good for her.

This is a fine volume overall but not much more than that. I’m giving it 3 stars and I hope my boy Kurama does something fun in the next volume because I ship him and Ami together.

First off, I am disturbed but we will get to that.

I am grateful to Mikage for reminding Nanami of her studies. Just because you have a boyfriend doesn't mean you should give up on school. It worries me if the end if just Nanami becoming a house-wife, nothing is wrong with that, it's just we've seen she has a lot of potential to do so much.

At last, Ami and Kei are in the know. I do like the side story following Ami with her crush on Kurama. Speaking of, Kurama has so much growing up to do still. I thought we were over only thinking for himself.

I hope this volume is what teaches Nanami that you need to be open and communicate in a relationship, even if it is something you are ashamed of letting the other person know about. Although, to be fair, Nanami has nothing to be ashamed for. She was .

Now to the disturbing part. The end of this volume went dark. Akura-Oh/Kirihito's taking . This was one of those moments where consent wasn't really consent. Honestly, I hope Kirihito the human is saved but I hope Tomoe absolutely eviscerates Akura-Oh. What an absolutely selfish demon. His feelings for Nanami are twisted only existing because she amuses him and serves a purpose.

I'm looking forward to reading the next volume and hopefully seeing Akura-Oh's death.

500 years later Nanami and Tomoe's love is reignited and they 'officially' become a couple! But nothing is ever easy when someone from Tomoe's past returns and causes trouble for the two of them. Kirihito (Akura-oh) returns although Tomoe has no idea and Nanami has no clue either although Kirihito has slipped hints to her that he knows the fox. But poor naive Nanami does not say anything to Tomoe which later turns into a consequence for her.

Note there is a scene which kinda looks like rape but after looking at it closely, it really isn't rape. The scene is only drawn to make it look like rape but it isn't. I would have given this perfect stars if Nanami wasn't so foolish to withdraw something so important to Tomoe which could have given him some warning and potentially saved herself if she had said something.

Oh and Yatori returns too which is disappointing because I thought he died. But after that time travel arc I can see why he is a recurring character.

I hate how stupid and reckless Nanami is.

What I hate about it is the fact that it seems like the story depends on her stupidity in order to advance.

I don’t mind that Nanami needs help when she’s in trouble because she can’t do everything on her own since she’s not as powerful as others. However, that trait of her being kind to the point where it’s easy to be taken advantage of or being very gullible really annoys me.

So far I’m not sure if Nanami has had any development. She’s now become a somewhat capable deity but her as a person doesn’t really seem to have any development.

It seems like her kindness serves to make other characters better/ a better person and I’m just not into that.

Alright, I’m done ranting now.

Nanami finally has the chance to go for a school field trip with everyone 💗 but as a condition from Mikage-sama, she needs to pass her finals with average 80 points first! I find it amusing that Mikage-sama is acting like a father at the shrine, especially towards Nanami. He even gets angry when Tomoe tries to touch Nanami when Tomoe is drunk 😂 I'm really enjoying Mikage's presence.

In the end, Mikage-sama still allows Nanami to go for the the field trip, but Ami ends up being kidnapped by a mermaid, caught in between Kirihito's thievery 😩 I've wanted to see how Kirihito will be able to take his body back, but the fact that he used Nanami and takes so much of her life energy away selfishly, makes me want to strangle him to death 😤 I want him to taste Tomoe's wrath!

After the previous installment, this one was a partial let down. I loved the beginning, when she’s working to go to the beach and trying to get her grades up. There’s some really sweet moments between her and Tamoe, plus the whole situation was comical, even if it was a tad strange.

Then there’s a part in this that really had my eyes opening because I certainly didn’t think this series would ever go there. It’s quite a dark part considering how lighthearted the rest of this series has been. I’m only hoping we see Tamoe really step up in the next one, regarding the situation.

At first, I'll admit I thought this was going to be a let down after the awesome story of Nanami & Tomoe's intertwined past. However, while this does get us back to the present, we are still left wondering about Kirihito/Akura-oh. Don't get your hopes up to have that resolved too quickly, but it does intersect at least with the story here of Nanami's class trip to Okinawa. This part of the story comes back to the rest of the class and we get to see some of the other characters shine too.

I like this new arc!! I’m disappointed for nanami that she was t able to have her fun school trip as she’d hoped... though I can’t believe she agreed to help Kirihito like that... I mean it was a huge risk... she really is a bit foolhardy. Speaking of foolhardy, I can’t believe Tomoe and Mizuki just told Kei their real identities just like that...

But Tomoe and Kirihito finally meet— I’m curious how that will go.

I'm going to leave the same review for all the volumes. I LOVED this manga so much and am trying to collect all the physical copies. I was originally reading it online when it was still coming out

There are a lot of characters. Only some are the main characters, but we see and get to know the side characters also. World building was nicely done in typical youkai fashion, and the romance was very cute

I liked this one slightly less than the others. I'm happy with the continuation of the Kirihito/Akura-Oh resurrection plot. I was disheartened by Nanami's decision making. When she went back in time to save Tomoe, she showed such growth and maturity. Now, she seems to make one rash decision after another.

As the main arc has finished, Nanami has returned to school and is reveling in her new relationship with Tomoe, and she tells her friends about him. They end up going on a school trip when Ami gets kidnapped and Nanami heads off on a mission to save her. Meanwhile, Kirihito showed back up to go after Nanami and to get her body back.
