As their connection grows, Oscar shares his greatest yearning: the car mechanic’s dream to become a sculptor and open his own gallery. But will their chemistry be enough to overcome the differences in their two worlds?
More importantly, can Oscar step up with a mechanical miracle while Ben’s career hangs in the balance?
Driven is a 50,000-word standalone contemporary gay romance, complete with lots of heat and a happily ever after ending.
*** This is a delight to read! *** The characters are terrific and the plot interesting. We get hot hunk, Oscar, 26, mechanic/sculptor, who is too big hearted for his own good, which leaves his account short. Professor Ben, 35, shows up needing repair for his Aston Martin DB5 he inherited. Oscar can't say no, and gets the courage to ask Ben to dinner. Oscar and Ben have an attraction that is hot and heavy. They get to know each other a bit, and the men are so different, and so in need of what the other has to offer. They each love art, but express their interpretations differently. Aston Martin DB5 in it's "007" prime !
Each man has insecurities, but together, the guys are a force to be reckoned with. Oscar and Ben face challenges, forge a loving relationship, and together, can really achieve their hearts goals. Loved it ! It's a well written, lovely tale, and free on KU. ENJOY ! ============= I only noticed one error where "foot" was used instead of "food." I do not blame the author.

Cars and long speeches about modern sculpture art pieces... omg NO, NO for me. I have an art degree and do you know what I hated most? MODERN SCULPTURES This book was a bit nightmare for me :(
Oscar was a bi mechanic who can't say no... “Anybody ever tell you you’re too nice?” Ben asked.
Ben a professor who needed a change. “Too old to be a typical student of mine but just young enough to make it weird,” he thought of his mechanic.
Ben's tenure relies in part on Oscar reviving his late uncle's car, the one that could get him an in with the committee. Oscar needed to remind Ben that there was life outside of academia. This despite Ben's thought that Oscar was propositioning him to fix the car as payment with a date. "...Holy s#it, Ben. Holy—you thought I was charging you in sex for the car job?” And so began they start of their relationship.
#Awkward!
As Oscar got to know Ben more, his opinions constantly changed as he no longer saw a well-dressed, high-class man he could never have; but a down to earth caring one who was showing more and more interest. "The man was like a bullet in everything and like a bulldog when he latched onto something."
When he discovered Oscar's secret, Ben was adamant in getting Oscar to display his talent, even to the detriment of his own tenure-ship. There was nothing that he wouldn't do for Oscar. Through trial and error, and a whole lotta loving (done perfectly, I may add), these guys just proved how perfect they were for each other.
One click and enjoy, I sure did. Looking forward to the other books in this Universe.

I didn't like this as much as I liked Logan's Sweet Deal, but it was still cute.
I really liked Oscar and Ben together, after I got over the initial meet. YIKES! That was awkward and kind of gross. I thought Oscar came on way too strong for someone he just met, literally. Even thought it worked out in the end it still gave me the heebie jeebies.
The switching of POV's was clunky, too, and it kind of took me out of the story.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review...... I was excited to read Ben's story in this series because I liked how nice he was in the last book. :) In this he meets a very kind mechanic, Oscar, who he pays to restore his James Bond vintage car and fireworks develop between the two of them. Oscar was much younger than Ben but when two people are meant to be together none of that matters. Ben was trying to get tenure (thanks to this story I now understand more about what that entails) and he was stressing out over getting everything handled. I really loved the ending and I could feel the happiness bouncing off the pages. They didn't let their misunderstandings drag on too long and I really liked that about these two. This was a very sweet and enticing read, for sure. :)
Driven is about two guys that are like chalk and cheese. A professor that dresses in suits and is running out of time to save his job. A job he no longer enjoys.
Oscer is a mechanic trying to keep his workshop open against the odds and his caring heart, that takes pity on others misfortune and discounts his prices.
Through a Austin Martin Ben hopes to use this broken car as a centre piece for a gala in the hope of saving his career.
The story is full of internal battles both men have, but can they overcome their worries. Can Oscar solve the problem with the car. And does ben really want to save his Job.
This story has great characters a little humour and lots of decision making.
I enjoyed this one much more than the first in the loosely connected series. The pacing was better, the character development more rounded and the narrative grounded in a realistic relationship which didn't feel like instant love.
Ben and Oscar were a good pairing, they talked to each other about their feelings, there were no stupid misunderstandings there only to cause drama and a good secondary cast of characters to help flesh out the setting.
I loved this book. I adored the characters. Ben was a dope and an amazingly fun character and Oscar was damn sweet. He was a super sweet heart. I enjoyed every second of the couple together and their conversation. I absolutely loved Ben's train of thought. He was an adorably dorky professor who was straightforward and true to his dream, his belief and his personality. He also had a potty mouth alter ego. LOL. Absolutely the best Harper Logan's book!
Spoiler!
Ben's conversation with himself: “How’d you end up with the warehouse? It’s kind of off the beaten path for a mechanic’s shop.” Fuck it. My life is absurd. What have I got to lose?
He was scheduled to trade his body for car repairs and it was the best he'd felt in weeks. God, Barley, he thought to himself. You're fucked.
Okay Barley, don’t get flattered because someone realized your potential for being a straight-up whore… He decided to change the subject. It was too weird to acknowledge that Oscar was legitimately attracted to him.
There’s no way this guy is real, Ben thought to himself as he poured. No twenty-something is this thoughtful. It’s impossible. Maybe you actually died, Barley, and this is heaven…
I really enjoyed this book, it was free on Amazon and I’ve read a book or two by this author before so I dove straight in I love These two guys,, it’s kinda a opposites attract, 10 year age gap, Teacher/Mechanic love story I loved that there wasn’t loads of unnecessary drama for them as a couple just for dramas sake I just really enjoyed reading this book, I especially loved the little sentimental touch with the ring 😉 that was awesome I am so happy they got everything they wanted and deserved ❤️ Ohh and I love that Harper’s other books feature characters that we have met in this book, you don’t need to read every book as a series or anything but you get cameos of characters in other books.. I’m going to dive into One of their books now 😏
This was a cute story but it didn’t really stir any feelings in me. Oscar was star of the show; a total sweetheart. He had his dreams but just needed a catalyst to move forward. Ben was his perfect match, but he is also the primary negative point for me. Quite frankly, I just didn’t like him for most of the story. I cringed every time, and too frequently, referred to Oscar as “kid”. It wasn’t until the last chapter and epilogue, when he finally grew a spine and did right by Oscar, that I started to like him. This was almost and insta-love, but not quite, though their relationship developed rather quickly. i would have like to see it drawn out a bit more, with a touch more angst, to really solidify their relationship.
Aww! What a sweet story. I loved being able to "hear" thoughts from both Oscar and Ben. It made some of their misunderstandings even funnier and added so much depth to the book. It was great to watch how the men helped each other to grow beyond what each had simply accepted as their lot in life, even after they'd stopped caring about the paths they were currently taking. I would describe this story as more of a mild to moderate heat level MM, but the plot makes it an enjoyable read. And the epilogue... *sigh*. I finished the book with a smile.
I absolutely loved Ben and Oscar. What a truly wonderful story. Ben meets Oscar when he had his DB5 Ashton Martin towed to Oscars shop. When Ben drops it of to be fixed and tells Ben he has a budget of about $800 and Oscar agrees right after loosing his last employee, he finds the courage to ask Ben out he agrees thinking that Oscar was propositioning him for sex as payment for fixing the car. From there you get to see love bloom in such a way that that you find yourself smiling. Great book and you should check it out.
This is a well written gay romance with well developed characters. Oscar is a mechanic who meets Ben when he has his Aston Martin DB5 to Oscar's shop for repairs. They are smitten with each other but neither feels like they stand a chance with the other, both feeling inferior to the other. What ensues leads to both men pursuing their dreams, together. This book is worthy of your must read list.
I love these characters. The build up of their self confidence through out the story was beautifully done. The only thing that would have made the ending better is if the tenure committee had some back lash. Maybe in the next book.
I started reading this book hesistant. But I quickly, very quickly, got caught up in it. I found it funny, so funny, sexy and just a feel good story. I love Oscar and Ben and you will too.
I have just been binging this author for a few weeks. The books are all so sweet and the characters are all lovely and so easy to fall for. Off to find another one
Every now and then, a good story comes along and you feel it in your gut that it's just right. Driven is just that. Oscar and Ben, two people from different walks of life, come together and weld a spark, filling each other to the perfect point. Definitely a well written piece.
3 1/2 stars. A feel good tale of Ben, a stuffy, unhappy art professor and Oscar, a mechanic who is an artist but the reality of his life doesn't allow him to explore his passion. Low angst, HEA.

When I started this I already had read the first book by the author, Our Reunion. Where the first novel had its ups and downs this book was definitely better. The setting was placed better imo, the character showed a better developement, the editing was fixed and improved. I also enjoyed the character themself a bit more than Tyler and Eli which were pleasant but the whole book contained too much drama and too much repetitions...
This story though had a natural flow, the character had some feature which were pleasant and humorous. I had to laugh out loud a lot this time.
The erotic scenes were in great balance to the rest of the book, they never felt out of place. It was also charming to see how lovely and great the character balanced each other and the slight argument at the last third of the book was necessary but not overdramatically.
A hot professor, An Aston Martin, A hot young mechanic. This is the story of the development of a relationship between two men. Ben is an art history professor in his last year to achieve tenure. He has a strong appreciation for art but no talent. In his 30's he lives a very quiet, introverted live, with order and a somewhat regimented lifestyle in reaction to a bad breakup with very high cost. Oscar, 'bi', in his 20's on the other hand, is a sucker for a story. He runs his own mechanic shop and will help anyone in need...despite the cost to his business. Oscar is also an artist, primarily sculpture, working with metal. He doesn't recognize his own talent. His art is his secret hobby primarily. The attraction is mutual but they are so different. This happens to be a M/M story but it is truly a story of humanity and of one human's attraction to another. This has emotion and loveable characters. Of course, there is a bad guy...or more. There is a journey and conflict. Is there an HEA? Read the book!
Everything in this book tells rather than shows, with a lot of vague "there just was something about him" sort of statements that feel like the author can't be bothered/isn't able to actually come up with anything unique about these characters, why we should care about them, or why they're attracted to each other beyond the most surface, stereotypical levels. They are cardboard, and embarrassingly guileless.
It's like the author is kind of gesturing with their hands in a frustrated way like, "you know, just imagine something endearing shit. I don't know, this one's cute and has good family values. That one's an asshole-but-not-really that dresses eccentrically. You want me to give more details? You want me to prove these things? I just told you they're true, why don't you just accept it?"
*picks up a foam roll* *smashes reader over the head*
THEY *smash* HAVE *smash* AMAZING *smash* CHEMISTRY *smash* DAG *smash* NABBIT *smash*
*pants aggressively*
Nope, not going to do all the work of filling in the gaps over here, sorry.
This charming book was so easy to immerse myself in, the chemistry between Ben and Oliver flowed naturally, with both characters’ internal monologues entertaining me throughout and the witty banter between them leaving me snickering out loud. There was something about Ben that caught my attention when we first met him in Our Reunion, and I loved the path Harper Logan set him on as he summoned the confidence to build a relationship with Oliver. Both characters are so insecure about how the other could possibly be interested in them or how they can make a life together work that I found myself shaking my head, but the attraction between them speaks much louder than those anxieties do. This couple is so endearing that I never was quite sure if I felt more empathetic to one or the other, the only thing that was really clear to me was how much better they were together than apart. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this book Oscar and Ben seemed like they would have nothing in common but they ended up being the perfect couple. Ben so serious and one track minded on his career. And Oscar too kind hearted towards his customers. The dynamic between the couple wasn't what I was expecting I thought Ben being the older of the two would be stronger but it was Oscar who often took the lead. I liked the moments at the start when they had their wires crossed over why Oscar had asked him out on the date. I really enjoyed how Ben brought Oscars confidence it art out. I enjoyed the whole gala night and how Oscar talked to the three people on the tenure committee and Bens realisation of what he actually wanted. It was a classic scene from a movie almost. The epilogue was just the perfect round up to the book. Showing you a year down the line and how things had progressed. I'm definitely going to look out for more books from this author.I
Ben loves his job as an art teacher but with his 36th birthday approaching, he needs to get tenure or find a new job. So in a last-ditch effort to save his job he is doing a James Bond theme fundraiser, only thing is the centerpiece needs a lot of work and Ben doesn't have a lot of time or money to get it fixed. Oscar enjoys working as a mechanic but with his guy now leaving he really can't be taking on any more charity cases. But when this well-dressed man asked him to fix his car in two weeks how can Oscar say no to that, but he has one condition he wants a date with Ben. Oscar was so nervous cause he didn't think that he was worthy of a man like Ben but the more time they spent together the more he realizes that they were meant for each other. Ben was always focused on is job put after seeing the way Oscar was treated by the people he worked with Ben knew that his job isn't worth his love life.
i received a free copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
I'm voluntarily reviewing a free advance reader copy I received from the author.
Wow. Ben was stuck in his own world, so focused on his career that he was ignoring every other part of his life. Oscar was a mechanic who had artistic dreams and a heart of gold, but no drive to move beyond what he currently had. When these two came together, they were exactly what the other needed. I loved watching Ben come alive and Oscar begin to embrace his creative side. I did a lot of cheering when we got to the gala. Great story, awesome ending, and YAY for that epilogue. Really enjoyed this.
