All hell breaks loose when an irresistible lust claims a budding superhero and the alphahole mercenary who’s been stalking her.

As a starry-eyed Atypical law-enforcement trainee, Jory had dreams and a bright future. Now, she’s nothing more than Valentine’s toy. But how can she escape when she’s desperate for his every touch? Pitting her powers against his yields only one result – her complete submission.

The brooding, leather-clad Valentine will hunt her through chaos, through battle, through pain, to bury himself inside her. There's no escaping each other or the rare Aphrodisia that afflicts them.

War explodes between humans and the super-powered Atypicals, and the line blurs between good and evil. If their lust for each other doesn’t kill them, these two obsessed lovers might just be the answer to this war.

The Valentine Duology includes rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

BOTH BOOKS IN THIS ROMANCE DUOLOGY – VALENTINE AND VILLAIN – IN ONE BOXSET.

One of the most intense experiences of my reader life; and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This full length superhero novella-I mean I laughed and I cried and I wanted to punch them and hug them and strangle them.
Jori and Valentine were toxic for each other- and it was a dark book. Their level of obsession with each other- due to aphrodisia is INSANE- and the whole time their S/M relationship existed, it was fascinating to watch their dynamics and the author's take on kink.
I adored the heavy angst and morbid tone of half of the book. I like when a book makes me cry and want to die for the characters- and thats what this did.
The couple had a difficult journey. I felt time moving while they craziness for each other persisted. So many ups and downs. They loved each other. They tried to stay away. They failed. They got back.
I enjoyed all aspects of Valentine-sweet, dom, sadist, evil , vigilant, and in the end; crazy, possessive, stalker, lover, pervy part of him.
Jori on the other hand was a strong ambitious heroine who struggled to find a balance between being a masochist sub, a superhero, a girlfriend and normalcy. She was the perfect ice to Val's fire.
There were parts which made me want to smash my tab, parts which made me want to lick it. (Yes I go through extremes of emotions). The war between Bureau and Atypicals was interesting to read.
**Pet peeve

My heart has been on a roller coaster ride. I just hoped the ending wasnt as rushed as it was. And things in the last few chapters of the book contradicted the rest. Overall, good.

"He loved her and she loved him, but they were a disaster."

Why did I wait so long to read this?

I loved this take on a superhero "civil war", and the romance between Jory and Valentine was sweet and hot and menacing at times. Everything held together well and I'm left with that "book hangover" feeling knowing I probably won't see these characters again.

Very highly recommended.

Also, the new cover art for this set is gorgeous - sadly not available here on Goodreads at this time

I love that Valentine is 2 books in one. *Valentine and Villain, a standalone duology, released together as one book!* We get Valentine (I can’t say creepy like Sorcha says in the synopsis. I see him as one very "Hawt" Dom. However, I can see that he can be a dominant jerk. He even says he is.

This is Jory Savage and Valentine Ott’s story. They are both Atypical’s. That means they are not ordinary human beings, they have powers. Jory’s is the use of cold and she can freeze things and Valentine’s power is his use of rope and man does he know how to use “rope”.

This book reminds me a bit of Sky High with Kurt Russell (I think because these Atypical’s have powers). Only Sky High was rated G. and Valentine certainly isn’t. After all this is an adult erotic book. And, there is explicit sex and this book comes with a warning:

"This book is an angsty dark romance that contains elements of BDSM, as well as potential triggers."

Sorcha Black’s books are so hot that you will need to handle her books with pot holders because of the heat generating from them.

I loved Valentine and I hope with all the characters in this book that we will see more of them in future books!

I did receive Valentine as an ARC. But, I knew there was no way I could get finished with the book before its release and I saw that it was offered on Kindle Unlimited so I quickly switched to the KU version. Because if you can the author might as well get paid for the book.

Okay, I didn't just finish reading the book today but I can't remember when I turned in my edits to Sorcha so this will have to do. All I can say is HOLY HELL this book managed to balance the heat with narrative well, and there's a lot happening here in the complex push/pull relationship between our two protagonists. Also, I love it when I get halfway through a story and I cannot see how the author will fix things, which makes getting to the conclusion all the more satisfying.

Disclaimer: I edited the book, so I can't rate. That's just plain gauche.

Wow! Amazing!

I wasn’t so sure about this book at first because the whole idea of superheroes and villains just didn’t seem like something I would like in my books......boy was I wrong! It was like a behind the scenes look at what it is to be a villain or hero and it was cool to read. We got to see them training and trying to find teams that fit them and see many different powers/abilities. This was one of the hottest books I’ve read and I couldn’t put this book down. Jory and Valentine’s story was one wild and crazy ride with many twists and turns. All of the characters were so unique and fun and real. My only complaint is that it ended lol I would give anything for more books in this world with these characters!

Dark and Compelling

I’m only doing 4 stars, not because it wasn’t great writing but because it was so hard for me to read. I’ve read some bdsm stories and dom\sub stories but this was intense. If the subject matter doesn’t bother you at all, you’ll love this story. It was heartbreaking and funny and scary but WOW

Heroes, Villains, and Mercenaries, oh my!

This storyline of Atypicals (powers) and Typicals (no power) was so much fun and LOADED with fantabulous kink.
Jory, young, a bit naive, and eager to become a hero, meets the slightly jaded, philosophical and arrogant mercenary Valentine - and sparks fly, or rather, combust, for them into a sexual frenzy of Aphrodesia neither can control or deny.

“But aren’t you going to let me go so we can…” She struggled for a word, but he saved her the trouble. “So you can use me like a dildo and sneak back to your dorm? No. In this arrangement, I’ll be the one doing the using, Jory.”

Yeah, so Valentine is a dominant man, and quite serious about his kink. While he's an all-out a*hole, he truly cares for and respects Jory, which just makes the way he treats her even hotter. So when the inexperienced Jory freaks out over how deep she finds herself falling, I can feel sympathy for the girl - but only so far.
Rather than talking or trying to find a middle ground when not overtaken by Aphrodesia, she runs from him. Repeatedly.
Friends and third parties involved all protect and care for Jory, while Valentine is met with exasperation and left to try and fix his own mania and loss of control.
Yes, his pride got in the way, but so did Jory's, as well as her fear.
It was pretty clear where Valentine was coming from and and why, so the unbalance left me pissed at everyone on Valentine's behalf.
Add in that these two can't communicate, and you get an epic mess with far reaching consequences. And in the middle of all this is a looming civil war for Atypicals far more perilous and damning than anyone at first realizes.
Jory and Valentine are right in the thick of things, and must fight for not just their personal and professional life, but their existence as free thinking Atypicals.
I just ate this story up, and highly recommend for anyone who enjoys kink and some superhero action. :P

As a devoted fan of Sparrow Beckett, I'm happy to say that Valentine, penned by 1/2 of that writing team, successfully delivers a seductive tale of two lovers living in a dark, dangerous world populated by Atypicals who have paranormal powers and Typicals who don't.

Strong anti-hero Valentine and his gentler warrior Jory, whom he calls "snowangel," share a cyclical condition known as Aphrodisia, which turns the Atypical pair into lusting, rutting animals when the cycle is at its height. This condition takes their already-intense D/s relationship and turns it up a notch or five, making them completely irresistible to one another, virtually oblivious to anything or anyone else around them.

The tie between these two so intense that they actually live in each others' minds, which is both a boon and a bane. They find comfort in being so indelibly connected, yet are tormented by it when it interferes with their chosen life paths. He's a Mercenary, hired by those who want power. She's a Hero, someone who works for the government, keeping officials in power.

At a time when warring factions of Atypicals demand our pair be as vigilant and focused as possible in order to survive, their internal struggle wreaks havoc on them mentally, physically, and emotionally, sometimes making survival a questionable goal. Sorcha Black tethers readers to the bumpy, sensual, exciting ride toward a destination filled with surprises.

I dont usually write reviews but I need to for this one. I think the bad reviews are from people that are not into kink.... which is FINE :)

BUT the way the author explains the feelings and emotions and urges of these characters was so amazing! Even if I was shocked, I still understood why she would let him do those things to her just bc of how well it was written I've! & that was HOT 😆😁 I've only ever been slightly curious abt BDSM so I wasn't sure about this story but I loved it and just gotta tell ppl not to give a bad review just bc its not your type of kink 😘

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Once again, Sorcha Black has written another book that has completely just knocked my socks off! If you were amazed by her novel Ein, I think you will be just as impressed with Valentine as I am. While this story is nothing like Ein, but it is completely amazing in its own right.

The characters Valentine and Jody are absolutely unique and complete opposites of each other, which is what makes this story so interesting. Not only do I love Jody and Valentine, but their gang of friends are just as amazing. I knew this would be a great story, but I didn't expect to have my socks knocked off the way I did. As much as I didn't want this book to end, I couldn't put it down either. Who needs clean dishes and laundry when you have Jody and Valentine? The story is just...let's just say that Black keeps things interesting and what you think will happen, doesn't quite go as planned.

This book is kinky, seductive, and action packed I Loved it! The intensity between Jory and Valentine is intense and the way they interact with another certain in part 2 of this novel is off the charts!!
There were certain times where I was not sure where this story will go since it kept me up until I read the end! I loved the ending and it was a great surprise especially when neither character thought they could reach that point!

Oh Sorcha!! My first book by you and I absolutely loved it. Valentine is the BOMB. I loved how one minute he's good, kinky and boy do I mean kinky!!! Especially with those ropes of his. Tie me up baby! I loved it when he was bad with the Aphrodisia but most importantly I loved how Jory was able to bring him back even with the ups and down that they had been through together. Oh Dane and Jurgen freaking adorable those two. Xana is a trip also!! Overall I loved every single word of this book. I will definitely continue reading more future books by you.

Sorcha Black's Valentine is an Anti-Superhero who meets Jory. Jory has always wanted to be a hero; to save the world and become a famous comic book character. Too bad that neither gets what they planned for their life. Watching Valentine and Jory deal with their ideals and their feelings for one another makes for one steamy, panty-melting read. 4-1/2 stars for the bad-ass Dom, his shy, quirky sub and their journey through the world of heroes and mercenaries!

OMG. This book is amazing. It’s the first book I feel that I need a safe word to read! It’s gritty and emotional. Filthy and hot AF. There is no fear from the author in her writing which is very refreshing.

I was reading this second book actually worried for Sorcha’s frame of mind while she was writing it. It is so graphic and descriptive I couldn’t put it down. I would say if your a die hard dark lover this is for you. I absolutely loved it. I need more stars though.

This was something I haven’t read before. It was an unique world that Sorcha Black created. It took me a few chapters to get into the story, but once I did I couldn’t stop reading.

What I enjoyed most about this story that is wasn’t just black or white. Every side had it good and it bad treats and people. The main characters question their beliefs and themselves. There where a lot of layers into the story and the characters.

This story checks all my boxes for a great read. Dirty, filthy, smutty, sexy, sweet and touching. A very unique story with a sexy, dominant male lead, an intelligent, brave female heroine and a cast of intriguing supporting characters makes this a story I could not put down. There are elements of BDSM and lots of kinky, hot sex. Definitely recommend.

BDSM, Polyamory, MMF ..... so steamy ..... swoon! So nice to find a book with all of these elements and also well written with great character depth. I had a hard time putting it down and felt connected to Jory and Valentine. I felt all the emotions.... happy, sad, angry, excited, worried, and of course aroused. Obviously if poly and kink aren’t your thing, leave this one alone.

Okay so let's start this review off. Those bad reviews you seeing I really don't understand honestly. Yes this book is dark and the characters are going through things that are intense and are a bit out there but it is good. Also BDSM people you gotta be prepared for all kinds of thing.
Now that I got that out of the way if BDSM, Humiliation, some mm a little of ff, some mmfm later on, some group sex later on, some stuff that could probably make you uncomfortable then this book is not for you. Now with all of that these books pull you and feel like you can't look away. Also why did I wait so long to read this. The main character have this instant lust that neither one of them can explain and don't understand. Jory (training to be a hero) and Valentine (mercenary) neighbors have their views on heroes and mercenaries but their views change in the closer they get to one another. It is rough there for the characters so prepare yourself on that. Jory find out that her and Valentine are experiencing something called Atypical Aphrodisia. A therapist tells Jory what this is when her trainers see that she's having trouble focusing and suggests that she see the therapists. Jory struggles a lot with how she feels about being a submissive as well as the thing that Valentine does to her and being a hero. She feels shameful and embarrassed. Valentine thinks he can pushes his feeling for Jory to the side, trying not to notice how much she has gotten under his skin. Book 2 gets darker with Valentine losing himself in Aphrodisia. Jory runs because of all the things that she feels as well as fearing when she loses herself in Aphrodisia. Not only do the characters have that going on between them but you also have a war going on with heroes and mercenaries and people are lost in the mix. This is my first book from the author so I've been intrigued and I'm probably going to read more. As I said this book is intense and dark if you don't feel like this is your forte it's okay to move on to something else.

Beautiful supervillain darkness

So I love a good anti-super hero and villian as the next guy, but when I get to read about their dark and kinky habits this girl gets excited. Best of both worlds. This story blends and melds these words seamlessly. I don't know how the author does it. She keeps two relatively important issues going throughout these books - 1) the lifestyle of being in a D/s relationship and how others perceive it outside of the lifestyle and 2) the dictator-like stance the government has over Atypicals and how they show be treated. Outside of the superhero genre, the journey Jory and Val go through coming to terms with being a D/s relationship is profound. The things Jory experiences, the doubts, they are real and it pulls you in. As in the superhero elements and there is an extra layer of intrigue.
I loved the added political message that was part of this world that as just a part of Jory's journey is self- discovery. The Big Brother vibe was a definite part that was needed to help the story grow as a whole.
This duet was so engrossing for me that I read it straight-through in 10 hours. Could not put it down.

Not for me..

The storyline sounded different and interesting but once I started reading I realized this was for hardcore BDSM/MMF/MM type of readers. The mc was treated like a dog with a rope lease on her neck. The h was a bisexual and wants the mc to call him master. The hero fighting crimes are a side plot and the BDSM is more the main plotline. Those who likes this genre type of reading will enjoy this one though. First time reading SB books and will be my last. Not my type of reading I guess.

4 and a half stars. Why? Everything was going so greattt until the second book. JORY YOU DUMB BITCH WITH A FUCKASS NAME LIKE JORY SAVAGE, YOU NEED TO BE UPPERCUT YOU STUPID ASS WISHY WASHY HOE OMDSSSSSS. I can’t stand her whiny self ughhhhh like GET WITH THE FUCKING PROGRAM.

Also Valentine, this man. Isn’t it ironic that his name is Valentine yet there isn’t a single romantic bone in his body. Also, READ THE ROOM HOE.

I am literally chomping at the bit because of this book.

Odd

I don't know what to think about this story. Some parts were good and some seemed to go too far. I'm still confused as to what I think, does the good and the bad even it out? Don't know.
