Jonah Owens thought moving to Echo Ridge to open his art gallery would solve all of his problems. The need to sell his grandma's house adds an unexpected complication. It would be easier if his neighbor didn't have all those farm animals. Kaya Feidler's family has owned their land for nearly a hundred years--long before the neighbors were there. There's no way she's giving up the animal therapy business she's been struggling to make profitable. She gets a temp job helping Jonah in the gallery. Spending time together is a recipe for romance, but can they overcome their own hangups to be more than friends?
Enjoyable Christmas novella. It was fun to see Kaya and Jonah get to know each other and see what their backgrounds were. Interesting to learn about therapy animals and a bit about owning an art gallery. Both main characters had big hearts and showed them to great advantage. *I purchased this ebook from Amazon. All opinions are my own.*
This was nice, though I didn't enjoy it as much as a couple others in the anthology. I missed the interaction with the other characters from the other novellas. I did enjoy the fact that the plot did not evolve around two people trying to get together. Sometimes I do enjoy a romance where it's just the evolving romance of two people without major conflict. However, with this one, I didn't feel the cute spark and chemistry between the two individuals, so it was kind of a ho-hum story for me.
One Winter Night is an entertaining story about pushing for your dreams & doing what makes you happy. Jonah was on his way to a career in art when his girlfriend was killed in a car accident. His drawings turned too dark to be displayed & then his muse dried up all together. He’s purchased an art gallery to keep his hand in the art world & is working to get that up & running while trying to sell his grandmother’s house. After the fourth prospective buyer declines because of the animals next door, he begins to see red. How is he going to sell the house & keep his grandmother in the rehab center?
Kaya loves her animal therapy business. She’s using the property she inherited from her grandparents & has patients coming to her & seeing results. In the winter money is tight & she has to get a side job. After quitting her job at the department store, she ends up working with Jonah to get his gallery set up. Will the close proximity change his mind about her?
This is another well written story with characters that draw us in from the beginning. The characters, especially the children, burrow their way into your heart. Jonah is struggling with his art & a way to support his grandmother. Kaya is struggling with her business & her love of the animals & her patients. They both have struggles to overcome but can they see how much easier they are with each other to lean on?
Kaya has inherited her grandmother's ranch along with four horses, a couple of goats and dogs, and chickens. She uses the animals for her animal therapy business. The ranch has been zoned agriculturally. However, the rest of the neighborhood is not. Jonah is an artist who has lost his desire to paint after the death of his girlfriend in a car accident. When his grandmother falls and breaks her hip he knows it's time for her to move to an assisted living facility. He has to sell her house because he has also bought an art gallery and can't afford two payments. The house is next door to the ranch and he thinks no one will want to buy because of the smell and noise next door. When these two meet will the fireworks fly due to anger or to another emotion all together?
I really enjoyed this sweet and clean romance about overcoming tragedy, moving on, helping others, and finding love in the process. This is a beautiful story with interesting characters, an art gallery, and several farm animals. You cannot help but like Kaya Fiedler and the interesting career she has chosen. Then there is Jonah Owen, who is quick to judge her when he does not know her at all. They both have pasts that make them who they are today. You cannot help love Jonah's grandma too. She might be a little bit of a matchmaker. The story is sweet and will make you want to read another book by Heather Tullis. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
When Jonah moves to Echo Ridge for a fresh start after the death of his girlfriend, he finds that painting doesn't come easy anymore now that his muse is gone. Then he has the frustration of trying to sell his grandmother's house when the neighbor Kaya has farm animals, which scare potential buyers away. What starts out as a strained relationship between Jonah and Kaya quickly blooms into something more when Kaya steps in to help Jonah set up his gallery. They both learn that the other has very redeeming qualities that they can't ignore. This was a fun read that explores the theme of starting over again and learning to love again when it feels all has been lost.
This is a cute love story in a small town. Love Heather's previous book and this is another love story that warms the heart. It is full of emotions and the wonderful small town people that help others. He is an artist that ends up helping other artists and she does rehab therapy with animals. These two are so helpful with their community. Love these stories.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love that the characters in this book display their flaws (being cranky and judge mental) as well as their strengths. I enjoyed the small glimpse into the life of an art gallery owner. I even enjoyed the frosty weather, and I don’t like being cold (there is something to be said for warm hugs and some hand holding on a frosty night).
Really enjoyed this sweet, simple, clean romance. Loved the small town feel, the respect and love of family and of course the budding romance! Perfect curl up, cozy read for an afternoon while the men in my family watch football! And who knew there were...
The love story of Jonah and Kaya is a fast paced. Jonah is an artist and gallery owner and Kaya is the owner of a farm with a menagerie of animals. She uses the animals to help with their physical and mental stresses. I love her uses of the sub-character to really explain her story. I loved the story.
This sweet contemporary romance is well written. The characters are wonderful. I love the carryover with characters from other books in the series. The setting is delightful. I love that I can sit down and finish in an afternoon.
She’s running an animal therapy ranch, he’s trying to sell his grandmothers house. He thinks the ranch is hampering the sale. But circumstances find him having to hire her part time at his new art gallery. His feelings for her change.
Every book I read of Heather Tullis’ seems to better than the last. The story is a smooth and entertaining tale of two people following their dreams and how they find each other in the process. I received this book as an arc. I voluntarily give my review.
I really enjoyed the characters in this little town of Echo Ridge. The chemistry between the two main characters was fun. This is a sweet, clean romance.
Very sweet. I liked that the romance didn't seem like the main focus for a good amount of the story and then slowly became more about the romance towards the end. It seemed more realistic that way.
Kaya is trying to live her dream, thanks to her grandmother's help. However, living your dream isn't always affordable, so Kaya is working a second job. She loves people and animal therapy. Despite her struggles, she tries to stay positive and helpful to others.
Jonah is beginning a new adventure as an art gallery owner, getting prepared for opening night, trying to sell his grandmother's house, find his muse to paint again, and find the time to visit his grandmother. He is frustrated trying to make things work, but I love how you can feel as he heals.
