The hearts and souls of Christian believers long for a deep connection with God, one that goes beyond the surface and into God's heart. They long for a purpose that transcends the fading glory of this world and touches the eternal things of God. Life in His Hands is a call to all believers to seek the heart of God through the pages of His living word and discover the abundant life of faith that functions on the full power of a sovereign, loving God.
Based upon the author's own struggles in finding purpose and experiencing genuine faith, the devotional readings in this book are a testament to the unstoppable power of God's word to change a person's heart, mind, and actions. They are an authentic voice of truth and love that offers strength to those struggling to gain victory over the challenges to their faith. Readers will discover the amazing, life-giving nature of Scripture, which elevates the voice of God above all other competing voices in this world and brings peace to the soul.
Life in His Hands offers eternal substance to those seeking a deeper relationship with God and a life of purpose in a world that offers only the temporary. The longings in our hearts will never find peace and fulfillment until we trust in the unchanging words of God and the redeeming hope of Jesus Christ. Before our creation, God created a specific, purposeful plan for each of our lives, and it is not beyond our reach. Instead, is it waiting to be awakened through the power of a living, active God.

Life in His Hands: A Call to Godly Surrender and Purposeful Living by Jill Holler Reading Life in His Hands: A Call to Godly Surrender and Purposeful Living by Jill Holler reminds me of a conversation I had with a petite elderly woman. She told me she and her two sisters had been high-flying trapeze artists—specifically a comedy team. When I thought she was living in her imaginations, she began to tell me of the time they were in a Laurel and Hardy film, and she brought out her pictures. I then hung on every word. She shared some of the most delightful tidbits of what the two iconic comedians were like off camera and made me feel close to them.
As Holler shares her insights of intimacy with God, I again experience that sense of being with her in her discoveries and conversations. Each devotion stirs a desire and a delight in moving into the Lord’s presence. I say desire AND delight because she awakens a hunger for more of God’s Spirit at work in the reader and delivers hope based on God’s promises that he will do it.
Holler presents the Word and encouragements in a way that rises above religious exercise. So many devotion books I’ve read are a collection of meditations that are connected only by the Bible. Life in His Hands contains 70 devotions on one thread, each one adding to the powerful convictions of the ones preceding. I have found them to be a great way to start the day and adjust attitudes for the day. But, I have found them sometimes necessary for getting back on track during the day. And, they’ve proven to be a good way to help my rest in the evening. That means the book will not last me a month. But as I respond in kind, it will give lifetime results.
I received this book for free via Goodreads First Reads.
This is a book I have had in my possession for a few years. I apologise to the author for the length of time it took me to read it.
As for the content, it is a book that uses The Bible to illustrate how certain problems in life could become less problematic. Mostly by using The Bible. There was nothing truly unique about the advice in this book. The examples also lack a human touch most of the time.
A book that will probably help some Christians who have any doubt about their faith. There is just very little value to it apart from that. In a crowded market there is no reason to recommend this one over any other.
Looking for a new devotional? Jill Holler has crafted these brief devotions around trusting God as you surrender your will to him. Each devotional is brief, flanked by an opening verse and a few other verses for further study. This book is small and compact, perfect for your purse or carry-on bag. Life in His Hands is biblically sound.
I wish the author would have shared more personal stories in the devotions to add more interest, but I did enjoy her encouraging tone.
The author generously provided a preview copy of this book.
This is a wonderful devotion. I am enjoying it so very much! There are several Scriptures for you to read, plus a wonderful devotion as well. Many of them have been speaking to me in certain situations of my life. I highly recommend it.
My friend, Drue sent me this book as a surprise, and a GREAT surprise it has been. It is set up as a daily devotion, but I could not help myself and have been reading a devotion or two...sometimes three a day!
Jill is a talented writer, and includes Scripture in every devotion. The devotions are short, but pack a big punch! I suffer with chronic health issues, and on multiple devotions I have said, "okay, God, I hear you." One of my favorites was "The One Who Sustains Us." page 31. Good stuff!
I highly recommend this book, and with the holiday's fast approaching it will make an excellent stocking stuffer or gift that is reasonably priced and full of goodness and grace! You can't go wrong!
I just received my book yesterday and was excited to read the first devotion today. It was wonderful! It really spoke to me and reinforced some things God has been working on in my life. I also really appreciate the multiple scripture references for each devotion - the mark of all writing that is God-centered. Highly recommend this book!
