Filled with lots of secrets that have been going on for years, heartbreak, and most importantly, loved ones trying to get Mackenzie to see that the way Darryon loved her wasn’t the right way after all.
Great read and I can't wait to read book 2! It's some low down mess going on in this book and I hope they pay for how they did my girl! This book was awesome just short!
Jesus take the wheel because it's really about to be some drama. The moment I started reading the book and got introduced to Maddison I knew her butt was sneaky, and that dang on Darryon is a sorry excuse for a man. I'm so glad Mackenzie got out of that dark place I just hope with this information it doesn't take her back there. Janeiro is BEA he's awsome. So ready for part 2 cause I know it's gone be
Mackenzie is in a toxic relationship with her son's father Darryon, who takes pleasure in insulting her. He's been hiding a secret that is sure to destroy her, but one fateful night leads to Mackenzie to find herself again. Her therapist encourages her to join a gym and here, is where her therapy begins. ✨ Janeiro is an Ex-NFL player, who is focusing on raising his daughter and running his gyms. Many women try to entice him, but he only has eyes for Mackenzie. They say you can tell how a man will treat a woman by the way he treats his mother, and this man loves his mother! ✨ I loved everything about this book by @_diiamondddd_. The storyline was great and instead of throwing my book across the room, I cursed the characters out in my journal. Lol The two who pissed me off the most is Darryon and Maddison. I think their attraction had allot to do with their jealousy of Mackenzie. I can't wait to see how this plays out for them. ✨ GO GET THIS BOOK!
Diamond Johnson seems to give you stories that are relatable, something you can say you went through personally or you know someone who has. Darryon broke McKenzie down and I personally wanted to jump thru the book to strangle him. McKenzie's sister doesn't make things any better. That cliffhanger was everything and I can't wait to see what's in store for us in part 2.
This book had me wanting to grab Darryon by the throat and choke him until his eyes popped out and once they popped out, I would stomp them into the dirt. The way he treated Mackenzie was so uncalled for. Her sister needs to be choked out as well. I couldn't believe that she did her like that. A definite page turner that had my emotions all over the place and anxiously turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. On to part 2.
When I say Author Diamond Johnson is dropping hit after hit. This has an awesome story line and it's very relatable to day to day situations. I can't wait for Kenzie to crack the faces of her trifling baby daddy and no good Ass sister. I need part 2 like yesterday.
I truly don't even know where to start. This book made me laugh and cry. I loved Kenzie and felt bad for her. Madison I can't wait to she get what she deserve because karma is something else I'm getting ready to start part 2 right now.
This book, or series seems to start really good, on the right track... Mackenzie, girlfriend, you have heart, because I would have already be gone and would have prefer to stay by myself "no body got time for this".... For all of the intelligence that you have and the beauty, you needed to jet out of here😜😤.... Janeiro, wow, I am in awe and the fact that you are bae, you are just the right fix. Drayrron and Maddison, karma is coming... What's good with this story besides all of the grammatical errors and run on sentences, is that MS. Johnson was able to bring about in the forefront of everyone's mind a subject that a lot of people are going thru right, from emotional and mental abuse, to low self esteem, to unbalanced relationship with family members, to be able to find that level grounded ground and be able to love yourself as is. It's very refreshing to read instead of reading always about drug lord, kingpin, thug, or just plain gangster, and hustling all around. This is just everyday struggles, with slight advantages from the normal people, but still a down to earth, real life issues... Great job!!!
‘The Way He Loves Me’ was a story about a young woman named Mackenzie who was desperately in love with her boyfriend, Darryon. She loved him more than life itself, and she believed that he felt the same for her.
Unfortunately, as the story wears on, it is found that Mackenzie’s love for Darryon was largely unrequited as her life takes a series of downward turns. It seems like Mackenzie is going to be stuck in this predicament forever… That is, until the story takes another major turn, this time for the better. Mackenzie meets someone new, someone who makes her feel ways that she hasn’t quite experienced before…
Diamond Johnson is an EXCELLENT story teller – All of the books that I have read by her are well written. She brings you into the life of each character, and the feelings and emotions they experience are very true to life. One thing I did not necessarily like about the story was Janeiro’s rough attitude; however, every character has their quirks, so it didn’t necessarily take away from the story.
I see it too many times when young women don't understand and know their worth. Mackenzie did the unthinkable by giving Darryon power over her life, when she didn't fight for what she wanted. A real man would've understood and let her accomplish her goals. I'm proud that she still accomplished getting her degree in accountant, while nurturing a baby boy in the process while still showing unconditional love to a pitiful man that mean her no good. Especially when he is messing with your ungrateful sister behind your back. Madison and Darryon deserve one another because they're both selfish and self centered. Some of us learn later in life. Let's see what God and life will teach them or if they'll learn from it. Hoping Mackenzie get her deserving happily ever after with Janeiro and the same with Janeiro because he is going through as well. Now onto to my next journey in this series. ReneeG 👍
Came off as Darryon being the only one to really suffer, the situation with him was okay but Maddison got off easy to me. Janeiro and Makenzie needed some drama on his end to make the story a bit more interesting. I liked that the author told some of their lives as a couple it just needed something to test them so Darryon, and the other baby mother situation came off as a simple out for the ever after. Alright read just not really much going on but I figured that was going to happen by the end of the last story.
Mackenzie made a bad decision and loved Darryon more than she loved herself and paid the price. Gave up her dreams and forgot about herself. Now that she’s moving, she has Janerio there to show her her worth and what Love is! Now that truth of who Darryon already has child with another on the way, hopefully it won’t break her and have her backtrack!
I was contemplating on whether to give 3 or 4 stars but i settled on 3. It wasn't a bad book. Mackenzie literally had no damn backbone and it was irritating lmao like girl talk back or something. Denero is just a wanna be thug and is putting her down to make himself feel better. I mean nothing was really shocking with the book, i could kind predict what was next. I'm gonna read book 2 and see if my option changes.
The book was good read McKenzie was an outgoing girl, until she met Darryon. He dogged Kenzie out, disrespected her in front of her son, his friends, mentally and physically abused her. When Kenzie started therapy and met Janeiro her self esteem improved. Can’t wait until find out what Darryon and Madison her sister betrayed her. What happen to the ending, don’t leave us hanging.
This writers books are gems like her name. OMG he's in the NFL and doesn't own a tattoo shop but still a thug with a big stick. I love it. I'm so glad. Kenzie dropped that zero because Janeiro is the truth. Ready for part two. This book is da bomb.
Where is book 2!!!...I need to know what happened because book had me holding my breath!!!...Family won't shatttttt!!!...Everyone wants and need a friend like Monica!!!...Why would this clown take their child to his home without at least delivering that horrible news to his ex....
I swear family ain't ish especially sisters. How can you live with yourself and do that to your sister. I was really hoping I would be able to find out what happens to Darryon and Kenzie sister. Please bring back part 2 I need to know what happens and if she will have a happy ending with Janeiro
Darion was an entire ahole. I felt so sorry for his baby mom because he didn’t care about her and treated her horribly. However she got herself together and is ready for someone new. Her sister is a horrible person and karma awaits her, I can’t wait. This book is great and I can’t wait for book 2
This is a lot different from what I normally read but I enjoyed. That damn Darryon and Maddison needs there tails beat. This should finally move old girl on from him. On to part 2.
This book deserves more than 5 stars. It was so good! It makes you want to cry at how Mackenzie is being treated. All the dirt eventually came to light at the end. So ready for part 2.
Oh yes, there's a part 2 to MacKenzie and Janeiro's relationship. Hopefully she sees Darryon, her baby's father, for who he is... Loser! And her sister, Maddison is playing her for a fool too. I plan to read Book 2 next. I gave this one a 4**** rating.
I really enjoyed this read. I love how the author likes to show the depth of flawed women and how they try to climb out of the bad situations they find themselves in. It's interesting that she likes to write about strong men who are also a little controlling
Listen when I tell you This book was good. I'm so glad to see McKenzie getting it together and I can't wait how things end. I was so unto the book I didn't realize it was ending!
I really want to fight darryon like he is the worst I wishhhhhhhh that Mackenzie was stronger but I’m sure with time it will happen that Maddison is something else and life is going to hit her hard I can tell
Loved this book, just mad because part 2 was taken down or is not offered so now I feel stuck right when the book was getting good. I mean her sister sleeps with her baby daddy and we just now finding out.
omg girllll you did it again Drama after Drama this book had me screaming but i was able to understand her pain and i can’t wait for her sister Maddison to get her KARMA the only thing i have to say WHERES PART 2 come on part 2 Pleaseee
