This is the story of a crop-duster pilot. It tells how he came to follow that trade, and of the life he led along the Texas/Mexico border. It is the story of reckless years spent without plan or caution, and the glories and pitfalls of agricultural flying. It is an account of how one man used up a few years of his life in that untamed land along the Rio Grande River. A tale of airplanes, and men, and a way of life that is now gone forever.
I opened this book with few expectations. I normally read military and historical aviation books, but this book was a joy to read. I found myself stopping so I could read more later! His stories and writing style are humorous and well told. He has a knack for storytelling. I also enjoyed reading about a little known niche in the aviation world. I hope Mr Bourne has another book in him, as this was an enjoyable read.
A very entertaining story told by a pilot who lived the life of a Crop Duster along the Texas border. Interesting characters and accounts of that chapter in his life.
A great book (although not the most well written) authored by an ex fighter pilot turned crop duster in south Texas. The book is about his life and stories from being a crop duster in the 1970s. A great glimpse into a life style and flying style that few experienced and is all but, gone.
