An innocent young woman flirts with scandal and becomes the mistress of her own forbidden desires in this stimulating Regency romance from the author of Mastering the Marquess.
Lady Cynthia Westhope can’t believe the shocking rumor is true. Her childhood friend, the daughter of a duke no less, has become the madam of London’s most exclusive and notorious brothel. Though she’s known as “Sin,” Cynthia is scandalized—and surprisingly curious. Just picturing the whips, the chains, the uncontrollable urges men gratify behind closed doors sends a jolt of electricity through her body. Still, Sin can’t imagine taking part in such games—until she’s snatched off the street during a raging storm and swept away to a remote cottage.
When James Winters encounters the comely virgin, he assumes she’s one of Madame Blanche’s fresh new beauties, especially after Sin pulses in ecstasy as he ravishes her. Then he discovers that she’s Lord Westhope’s virgin daughter . . . or was. Now they will both be compromised, unless James devises a plan to save Sin from disgrace. Before long, they’re entangled in a web of tempting propositions, family secrets, and sensual intrigue—and bound together so tightly that James never wants to let go.
I live in Washington, DC with my husband, kids, two cats and a changing menagerie of other small beasts.
I worked in both the arts and in the business world before giving into my love of story telling after the birth of my oldest -- although it wasn't until after the birth of my youngest when I suddenly had full-time childcare that it all came together for me.
I love discussing books -- almost any books at any time.
One of my great joys is having my children get old enough that we can all read the same things and talk. I am so happy that YA is the flourishing world that it is.
And of course I love Romance. I started back with Kathleen Woodiwiss and Johanna Lindsay and have never given them up since -- although there were a few slow spots along the way.
'Tangled in Sin' by Lavinia Kent is book Five in the "Bound and Determined" series. This is the story of Cynthia 'Sin' and James. I have been jumping in and out of this series so for me this was a standalone book. Sin has sneaked into a Brothel that she has heard her childhood best friend now owns. Sin wants to see if its true and if she can help her. But Sin learns that her friend feels that this is her life now since she has a child out of wedlock. While Sin is there her friends brother comes to also see what he can do. Sin hides as she knows that no one can see her there or her reputation will be ruined. James can't talk his sister into a different life but he plans to do something. When James runs into Sin on this stormy night he doesn't know who she is but thinks she works for his sister at her brothel. James knows she looks familiar but his attraction to her blinds him to think hard on it. Sin has always liked James and they all used to play together but she hasn't seen him for years. Now she is swept away with him and their night encounter. What will happen next...will Sin fall as her friend has or will James ensure that doesn't happen. This is an erotic novel set in England during what could be the Regency or early Victorian era. If you approach this novel knowing you will be reading erotica, you will probably enjoy it. If you sit down and expect a sweet or thrilling romance novel, you will be most likely be disappointed. This book contains several sex scenes, and they are all explicit. You’ve been forewarned.
Lady Cynthia, the heroine, wants to help her friend Lady Jasmine, the new owner of a brothel and unwed mother.
Lord James is Lady Jasmine’s brother. He also wants to help his sister and restore her to her rightful place in society. Curiosity killed the cat, and it certainly gets the better of naive Lady Cynthia in this novel.
I never warmed up to Lord James. He is not my kind of hero. I personally found him to be a reprobate, and it was not solely due to his deviant sexual interests. The man showed very little restraint. Self-control is sexy. Building sexual tension before letting the main characters jump into bed is titillating. There were moments I wanted to smack the hero’s head!
Lord James feels Lady Cynthia is the perfect woman for him. Of course, he thinks that! She's an attractive, eligible member of the upper class who's so infatuated with him, she'll let him do whatever he wants with her body. What man wouldn't love that?
Gratuitous sex scenes! I'm no prude. Under a different set of circumstances, the erotic scenes in this novel would have been fine with me. If Lady Cynthia had been described as a headstrong young lady on a quest for sexual discovery, I could have tolerated the frequent sex scenes. They would have been an illustration of her sexual awakening. Unfortunately, Lady Cynthia is not a woman in control of her sexuality for most of this book. She is manipulated by an older, more experienced gentleman. Because this is a historical novel, I did not find this plot plausible. There are, no doubt, readers who will love this book, but I don't want my virginal historical heroines engaged in kinky sex before they get married.
I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I started reading this one without any idea of what it was gonna be about. So I was a little surprised to find that it's a historical romance/erotica book. But it was a good surprise and I really enjoyed the majority of this story.
Lady Cynthia found her friend, Jasmine,as the Madam of a brothel. While she was at the brothel Jasmine's brother arrives to talk some sense into her. Cynthia hid so that she wouldn't be seen at a brothel. While she was sneaking away from the brothel that night she was abducted and taken to a cottage in the middle of nowhere. James, Jasmine's brother arrived at the cottage to rescue his sister who was suppose to be the one abducted. But he surprisingly finds a beautiful woman there in her place. He assumes she is one of the working girls from the brothel. Cynthia wakes up in a very compromising situation with James and now he feels he must have her marry him. Even though he is the cause of this whole problem, his honor won't allow him to ruin a lady's reputation. Cynthia has no plan to marry James because she doesn't want to be forced into a marriage. There's lots of sexy scenes in this story and definitely keeps you interested in reading more. The ending was very abrupt and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be continued into another story or if that is how she planned on ending the story of James and Cynthia. So all in all I really enjoyed reading this one with the exception of the ending. Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Ms. Kent's fifth book I her Bound And Determined series " Tangled in Sin" gets five sexy erotic starts from me, with a smooth and enjoyable transfer of characters in a delicious plot line.
Madame Rogue has passed the torch to the new Madame Blanche"Jasmine Scarlett" the disgraced daughter of a Duke , which in itself is a journey full of pitfalls. A demanding and domineering father trying to marry her off to a man twice her age, a brother who loves her but wants more for her and a curious best freind, Lady Cynthai Westhope. Cynthia" Sin" is so curious she braves going to the brothel to see Jasmine, wanting to try and convince her freind that she must have other options than the one she has chosen. Madame Blanche will not be swayed however and to spite knowing that being at the brothel is dangerous for Sin she finds herself happy to have someone to talk to again at the same time as expressing to Sin she should not come back again. Sin never one to dally however does come back, and the second trip puts her in a situation of being kidnapped and taken to a cottage in the country by two men, though fearfull of what they mean to do with her she rally's her spirit when dumped and left alone. Awoken the next morning by a pounding on the door, demanding that Jasmine open it , she becomes aware that her kidnappers had not gotten their intended mark and it is nno other than James, Jasmine's brother come to rescue her. Rescue however will not save her reputation since the weather has stranded both of them alone in this cabin. Especially since James does not recognize her and believes her to be one of Madame Blanches girls and with that in James mind what is a little tup in the morning. James will find himself spending the remainder of the story trying to convince his Sin that marriage is the only answer to their problem and does so in several delightful ways !

Gak ero ah tetep.. tp ya gw masukin shelves eroro dah (gimana sih!) kwkwkwkwkw gw awalnya tertarik baca buku ini dibanding buku nya Ruby, tp kr males baca dr buku 1 jadinya baca part nya Ruby aja XD
FINAL DECISION: As the series takes off in new directions with new characters, I miss the madam Ruby but am very intrigued by the secrets the new characters have. Sin and James are an intriguing couple who might be one of the most conventional in this series -- although the sex is still pretty hot!
THE STORY: Lady Cynthia Westhope finds out that her childhood friend, the daughter of a duke, has become the madam at the most notorious brothel in London. When Cynthia travels to the brothel in order to try and help her friend, she is kidnapped. She ends up spending several days with her friend's brother, James Winters. With Cynthia compromised, James offers to marry her, but Cynthia doesn't trust James and is not sure what she wants to do about marriage -- but she knows that she wants to explore the sexual attraction between her and James.
OPINION: By the end of this book, it totally felt like a Bound and Determined novel -- very sexy where the characters push their limits. The story began a little slower than others in the series -- perhaps because it was setting up a new stable of characters.
Cynthia (aka Sin) is more innocent than most of the women in this series. The daughter of an earl, she has been sheltered...but she is also not willing to do exactly what society expects. She is willing to toss over society in order to meet with her childhood friend -- even if that takes her to a brothel. (Readers of the series will know that the characters in this series are more adventurous than one generally expects in historical romance since this book edges toward historical erotica). She had a crush on James when they were children and her fascination with him has not diminished even though they have not seen one another for years. She begins as a more conventional character but by the time the book ends she has embraced her own sexuality and her own identity.
James is a character that begins the book needing to be in control. He is willing and expecting to make all the decisions. A second son, he desires to assert control where he can. And he expects to make the decisions regarding marriage especially when convention is on his side. What he doesn't expect is the willfulness that Cynthia begins to show. As the book proceeds, James has to learn to surrender -- to his feelings and his trust in Cynthia.
Cynthia and James are more conventional than most of the characters in this series and yet are willing to be more unconventional as the book proceeds. I liked their relationship especially because Cynthia makes James pay for his high handed behavior in the beginning.
While I began the book sad that we had moved on to a new phase of the series, my interest in the intrigue surrounding Madam Blanche and her family increased throughout the book and by the end, I was looking forward to the next book in the series.
WORTH MENTIONING: As the series has moved on to a new set of characters, this book sets up a whole stable of characters that could get their own stories.
CONNECTED BOOKS: TANGLED IN SIN is the fifth book in the Bound and Determined series. This book is really the start of a new phase in the series and can be read as a standalone as the series focuses on new characters.
Both Lavinia Kent and the colorful cast of lusty and licentious characters who have enraptured the hearts and inflamed the passions of Bound and Determined series fans, have undergone quite a few changes over the collection's progression. Tangled in Sin, the newest tale in the saga, offers readers yet another transition...and yet another introduction.
Madame Blanche, the newest and most scandalized owner of the brothel once known as Madame Rouge's, has more reasons than anyone to keep both her identity and her past a secret. Unfortunately for her. She also has a brother hell bent on making sure that the life of a madame, and the scandal that results, are not her future.
Lady Cynthia Westhope has always prided herself on exemplifying the model of English decorum. But she had no idea that one fated visit to an infamous brothel, and the secrets that visit would uncover, would usher her into her own world of passion, scandal, and unquenchable desire.
This story may start in a brothel, but it most certainly does not end there. When Cynthia Westhope finds herself not only kidnapped, but stranded with the man that she has always desired. Readers find themselves with the ultimate story of mistake turned milestone. As both Cynthia, and leading man James Winters are left alone during a storm. With nothing between them but their burgeoning desire.
Tangled In Sin is the perfect example of what can happen when the niceties and social constraints celebrated in Historical Romance, meet the carnal abandon of Erotica. That is of course, if one can stomach the insufferability and entitlement of James long enough to get to the sensual wonderland that follows.
Really enjoyable read. I was totally thinking that this was going to be about Jasmine a.k.a. Blanche. I love all of it, but I loved the ending best - when Lady Cynthia took control in the bedroom. Will will ever know what is going to happen to Jasmine? I think it leaves the series unfinished. 4☆
Tangled in Sin is the fifth book in Lavinia Kent's popular Bound and Determined Series but, it's also the start of a new set of characters so it can be read as a standalone. Here, Madame Rouge has now turned over her beloved and infamous brother to Madame Blanche. Madame Blanche being from the ton has her own sets of problems to deal with including a meddling brother and a curious but equally concerned best friend. A case of mistaken identity and a failed abduction results in James and Sin being trapped in a small cabin during a storm. She knows who he is, he doesn't. He thinks she works for Madame Blanche, while she thinks he is there to rescue her. What happens next is enough to create a scandal of its own.
Taken as an erotica romance Tangled in Sin will have you fanning yourself with those oh so seductive and hot scenes between James and Sin. The beginning encounter however may have questions of consent in play but its address quickly enough. As a romance it doesn't fall into an instant love scenario except for Sin's part, James realistically takes time to declare his own feelings. I do rate it a 5 for erotica and a 3 for romance.
If you love historical romance, intriguing characters, a great story, and heavy doses of erotic content, you’ll love Lavinia Kent’s Bound and Determined series. In one single night, James and Cynthia’s lives are changed completely and, before he knows it, James is Tangled In Sin.
Lady Cynthia (Sin) Westhope probably shouldn’t have gone looking for her friend Jasmine, but her sense of adventure, as always, pushed her forward without considering the consequences. Rumors that her dearest childhood friend was now the madame of Madame Blanche’s Club for Gentlemen of Taste, a notorious London brothel, were too outrageous to believe. Sin had to see her friend and help her if she could. Though nervous about entering such an establishment, she also found it quite exciting. Though she couldn’t imagine taking part in some of the sights before her, she had to admit she found them intriguing. James Winters, second son of the Duke of Scarlett and brother of Jasmine, is equally concerned for his sister. He’s outraged that she would expose the family to such scandal. While he loves his sister dearly, he is certain he must rescue her from the establishment and get her somewhere safe until she sees reason. But his plan goes awry when he unknowingly abducts Sin mistaking her for his sister. Though the two had been friends throughout their childhood, it had been years since they’d seen each other and James had no idea the woman he’d whisked away to the secluded cabin was Sin. He assumed she was one of the working girls from Madame Blanche’s. Now here he was in a secluded cabin in the middle of a thunderstorm with a beautiful woman. He knew exactly how he planned to pass the time. Of course Sin immediately knew who James was. She’d always fancied him. He’d been the first innocent love of her young heart. Something about him still drew her. And now they were alone and he didn’t recognize her. Dare she accept his advances, share his kisses? No one would know. But those kisses quickly turned to more and Sin didn’t want it to end. When James, too late, discovers who Sin is, he insists they marry. But Sin didn’t want James to marry her out of guilt. She would, however, like more of the delights he’d introduced her to. Besides, she’d already lost what could be lost. Did she dare reach for what her body so desperately wanted?
You know a story is good when you’re torn between wanting to see what happens next and wanting to stay in the moment you’re in. I could have stayed in that cabin with James and Sin for the entirety of the book. It was just that delicious. I’m glad I kept reading though because, while the sexual tension was off the charts in that cabin, it only intensified with each encounter. I loved watching James and Sin discover each other again and, in the process, discover what they really wanted. While James was not the man she remembered, and Sin was not the gawky girl James remembered, they found themselves as comfortable with each other as they’d been before, yet everything was new too. There was definitely desire there now. But Sin wants more from James than just desire. Yes, James made her feel things she hadn’t known her body was capable of. And even though she was still unsure about all they’d done, she knew she wanted to do it again. But while she enjoyed his control and giving into it at times, Sin wanted James to trust her, not dictate what he thought was best. Watching these two find their way to each other was exhilarating. I found myself anticipating each encounter, knowing something incredible was about to happen. While part of a series, this story can be read independently. I plan to read the earlier books in the series and am very eager to know Jasmine’s story. I can’t think of a better way to spend the summer than lost in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.

4.5 stars
I really enjoyed this book, it had a much lighter feel than the previous books in the series and while I found James to be just wonderful, Cynthia not so much.
James and Cynthia aka Sin have known each other forever, Jasmine is James' younger sister and Sin's best friend. After hearing rumors that Jasmine is now Madame Blanche and the new owner of Ruby's pleasure house. Sin decides to pay her friend a visit.
Jasmine is not pleased to see Sin and tries to cut ties with her, while they are visiting James bursts in, Sin barely has time to hide and overhears their conversation. James is upset that Jasmine has taken over the house and tries to convince her to leave. Jasmine tells him in no uncertain terms that she will never leave her daughter nor will she consider giving her up. She basically tells James to leave her alone and accept her decision.
Sin returns the next day and Jasmine while still wary, is happy to have her friend back. Sin leaves promising to return, as she leaves a massive rainstorm begins and Jasmine insists that Sin borrow her cloak. Sin steps out of the house and is promptly abducted off the street.
She is taken to an abandoned cottage and left alone. The next morning James appears, believing his plan to abduct his sister is a success and he can now convince her to leave the pleasure house. He is shocked to see Sin and not Jasmine, but he doesn't recognize Sin as his sisters friend, he thinks that she is one of the girls from the house.
Because of the storm, they are trapped together and when one thing leads to another and Sin ends up ravished. Now angry, Sin reveals her identity and James immediately deems they will marry. She doesn't want a forced marriage and refuses. James decides to seduce Sin into compliance.
Sin and James share some steamy love play but without the added risk of pregnancy. They also begin to renew their friendship and things seem to be going along nicely until James' servants show up and they return to the Duke's estate. James continues his seductive persuasion and just as Sin is ready to give in, she learns the truth of her abduction.
Furious with James and herself for falling for him, she flees back to London and seeks out Jasmine. When James tracks her down, he has to work very hard to set things right with both Sin and Jasmine.
The book is well written, flows nicely, has steamy love scenes, amusing dialogue, a very sweet albeit misguided hero and a lovely declaration scene. Although this is part of a series, it could easily be read as a stand alone title.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a very steamy read and I am looking forward to more books in this series!
Tangled in Sin is the fifth book in the Bound in Determined series, but it can be read as a standalone. I’m not sure of the period, but it’s listed as a Regency Romance/Erotica, so I garner the book takes place in Regency London. (Try not to be too impressed by my detective skills, please).
Cynthia is abducted in a case of mistaken identity, taken to an abandoned cottage and left there. Her childhood crush, James, comes to the rescue, but they both get stranded for a few days due to a heavy storm. The sexual tension is palpable, so of course stuff happens and James informs Sin (Cynthia's childhood nickname) that now they must wed to prevent scandal. Sin finds herself drawn to James, but unable to stand how demanding and controlling he is, so she refuses his "proposal". James isn't quite sure of his feelings for Sin, but is continuously finding the idea of being married to her more and more appealing.
The plot is pretty predictable, but the heroine is enchanting. I groaned at the "innocent virgin learns the ropes from well-sexed man" theme, but Sin manages to make it her own. She's resistant to James' domineering ways and doesn't allow him to get away with many, not all, but many of his offenses. Sin's evolution from innocently naive virgin to (at times) foul-mouthed vixen is too fast to be believable, but I'd rather her change too quickly than not at all.
James, well, I'm not sure how I feel about James. I'm not a Regency Era historian or anything, but I'm pretty sure the way he spoke to Sin doesn't fit how gentlemen would speak to ladies at that time. Butttt, it is an erotica, so I think the dirty talk is a tad necessary. Just be forewarned that if you're a stickler for historical accuracy, Tangled in Sin might not be your cuppa. Back to James, he didn't seem to really get Sin. I felt like everything she said to him was heard as well as my two-year old hears me when I tell him to clean up his damn toys. Goes in one ear and out the other. I guess that is true to life, but I appreciate my romance heroes to be a little more... perfect? I at least want them to say "I love you" back when it is said to them. C'mon, James, grow some balls....
I wouldn't consider Tangled in Sin to have a cliffhanger, but the HEA isn't quite complete by the end. There is a side story concerning James' sister, Jasmine, that is quite intriguing but goes unexplained, so I suppose there will be another book for her and the rest of Sin's and James' story will be satisfied then.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first novel I have read by Lavinia Kent. Being the fifth book in the series I did feel a little confusion, I know there was back story I was missing, but I was able to get by fairly well. (Although I really want to read the previous books now to see what I missed.)
I used to read mostly historicals. Now it seems I read mostly contemporary books so it was really nice to slip back into that time period. This book certainly wasn't like the historicals I have read previously. It was very... naughty... and I loved it! It was a very interesting mix of erotica and historical and I enjoyed the effect.
I loved James. I loved him when he was sweet and when he was naughty, I even loved him when he was bossy. I thought Sin was a good match for him. She liked when he took control in the bedroom but could stand up to him when he was too controlling out of it. Since they had been childhood friends and known each other for years it seemed a natural progression that they should fall in love even though it was a short amount of time.
I'd say the thing that bothered me most was that the book just ended so suddenly. I kept going back and forth sure I had missed a chapter. It wasn't a cliffhanger. It just stopped. It seriously needed another chapter and/or an epilogue. It left a lot of unanswered questions. What happened with their fathers? With Sin's stepmother? Was the "scandal" found out? Did the marriage even actually happen??!!
I can understand all the unknowns with Jasmine. I am assuming she will have her own book. Hopefully the multitude of questions I have about James and Sin will be answered then as James is Jasmine's brother.
Looking forward to the next book!
I received this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Lady Cynthia misses her best friend and following the rumors, she arrives at the most famous brothel in the city where jasmine is supposed to be. After the visit, she is kidnapped and left alone in a small cabin during a terrible downpour. James can’t believe the rumors about his sister and when he checks by himself that they are true, he decides to kidnap her sister to make her reconsider her decision. The only problem is that the woman in the cabin is not her sister and due to the heavy downpour they are trapped there. The book is well-written and well-developed. It is a bit different from the other books in the series as Cynthia hasn’t got so much knowledge about sex as the previous female characters. It is difficult to believe she was so confident being naked with James. However, he is not a strange man for her, she has known him since childhood. She is so curious about sex, she can’t think of a better person than James to help her investigate. I like how she tries to rebel against the restrictions of society, she doesn’t want to be someone to be bossed around all the time. She is used to taking decisions and be in charge of things so much as James is. I would have liked to see James meeting and taking little Hope in his arms. I think it would have added a touch of tenderness to James character. I’m looking forward to reading Jasmine’s story. I received a free review copy of this book by NetGalley
This week’s book review is not for the bashful. It’s for the reader who flirts with what some consider to be taboo. TANGLED IN SIN is the fifth installment in the Bound and Determined series written by Lavinia Kent. Sizzling with sexual vice and erotic intrigue this page turner nearly scorches its pages.
Mistaken as the newest owner of a well-known London brothel, Cynthia Westhope, “Sin” is abducted from her walk home during a horrible rain storm. Left to fend for herself in a remote cabin, she welcomes the appearance of her best-friend’s brother, James Winters. Uncertain why someone would want to kidnap her, she assumes that James had found out that his sister was in danger and come to rescue her.
After staging a plan to force his sister to abandon her newest position as Madame Blanche, James is horrified to find the wrong woman residing in the cabin. Unable to cross the river, he relishes the thought of spending the evening with the luscious scantily clad woman.
Cold and wet Sin and James do the most obvious thing possible to keep warm-they sleep side-by-side. Plagued with innocent desire, Sin falls into an erotic dream in which James is ravishing her. But, it wasn’t a dream. Having taken her innocence, James is determined to wed her.
TANGLED IN SIN promises its readers a steamy hot aphrodisiac into the temptation of the forbidden. I consider myself lucky to have been chose to receive an advanced reader copy of this novel and am thrilled to recommend it. Happy reading!
Lavinia Kent’s Bound and Determined series is one of the best current series being written. “Tangled in Sin” is the latest offering in the series and is a fantastic read. Lavinia Kent’s books are pretty much a guaranteed five-star read.
Cynthia known as “Sin” is shocked to find out her friend is now a brothel owner and a mother. Sin continues to visit Jasmine and her new daughter even though it could compromise her reputation.
Jasmine’s brother James is furious that his sister is running a brothel. He is determined to reinstate her at his father’s home and convince her to give up her daughter. James hatches a plot to kidnap Jasmine and force her to do his bidding, but he makes a mistake and Sin is taken instead.
Sin has always had a bit of a crush on James and is surprised when he doesn’t recognize her. She is cold, tired and very mad about being kidnapped and believes James is her rescuer. Sin is shocked when she wakes up to James’ caresses and is even more shocked when takes her virginity roughly. She is even more unhappy to spend days in a cabin with him after the unfortunate events.
This book has less super-steamy passionate scenes and more feelings and emotions than the other books in the series. Very good story, and I hope Ms. Kent continues the series. I would love to find out what happened to Jasmine and see her have a happy ending.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Author Lavinia Kent continues her Bound and Determined series with this uncommon erotica full of rich characters and extremely hot love scenes.
Primary female character Lady Cynthia Westhope is a virgin and the authors portrayal of her introduction into forbidden desires is not only believable but very hot reading. She's demure with a feisty edge and I loved how she blossomed after her first experience. It is refreshing how she evolves in this story as she becomes more powerful in her thinking about her options after losing her virginity.
James Winters the primary male character was pretty much what one thinks a DOM would be like, in charge and very sensual. But underneath his armor the reader will get to see slow glimpses of what he keeps hidden. It was quite entertaining to see how he went about trying to make Lady Cynthia change her mind about his offer.
This is a great story and a fast read filled with hot, hot love scenes. I give this 4 STARS across the board.
Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
#5 in the Bound and Determined historical romance series
Thanks for NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This series has been very enjoyable, and this final book was okay, but I'll admit that it was a bit of a letdown. The characters were attractive and likable, and I was rooting for their success. It was interesting to listen to their open communication and frank conversations, although I suppose they were not really believable for that time period since she accused him of taking charge and making decisions when, of course, that was the normal practice at that time since women didn't have any rights. The intimate scenes were much less exciting than previous books, with very little BDSM involved, and that is what I have come to expect from this series, which made it somewhat disappointing. The story moved forward, but the action throughout was much lower key and felt a little slow. All in all, this was a quick and pleasant read, but I found the previous books in the series to be much more engaging. I am happy to have discovered this series and this author and will look for more from her.
James likes to make sure his woman is kept safe, “I trust you completely.” And strangely he did. “Although next time I’ll make sure to lock you in at night. You seem to be lacking in common sense. First, you ride across the country by yourself and then through London in the wee hours of the night and then, second, you go wandering about a w*****ouse unaccompanied. It is no wonder that you found trouble.” James sometimes just has to be blunt, “I want to eff you, and eff you hard.” I really loved James.
This was my first by Lavinia Kent and I was pleasantly surprised. I have to say I loveddd both the main characters! I loved the Cynthia was a curious but strong woman! She knew what she wanted and would not settle without knowing she would have it! James was a lovable disaster! I also loved Jazmine and want to know more about her back story. The book was steamy but did not over shadow the book. I will be reading the books that came before this one and looking forward to new releases in the series!
Tangled in Sin is a delightful exercise in sensuous, sultry and seductive wrapped up in a historical bow. This book is almost wall to wall sex but it is so well written that it flows and draws the reader along to the point where of course we believe Cynthia and James truly love each other. The only down side for me was a number of character name mix-ups early on in which Cynthia was referred to as Jasmine. Minor detail. Good book, best I've read of the Bound and Determined series and I'm looking for more.
This is the latest installment in the series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the connection of the brothel for these stories. Cynthia's desire to help a friend pulled me in. She was willing to do what she could and ended up in trouble. Her childhood crush, James, tries to do the right thing but Cynthia is not willing to accept that offer. Her want for love as a basis for a relationship is strong. The attraction between them led to push and pulls, and I loved the journey.
I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
I find the entire Bound and Determined series addictive and charming. Tangled in Sin is so captivatingly fun and sexy, I cheated every moment between Sin and James. They are so absorbed in each other in a totally believable way through the childhood friendship. One cheers particularly James revelations. I eagerly anticipate learning much more of Scarlet's secrets, meeting Langdon and discovering what his story is and ultimately Jasmine's secrets and her happy ending!
Thank you Lavinia Kent for you courage, fantasy, and sharing your tallent
I liked Sina lot, she was smart and wanted to have a choice in her future. It was James that I wish I had liked more. I am sucker for historical romance, and if the main characters are falling in love after knowing each other from childhood? I like it even more (hence my love and devotion for Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn). But while I liked James enough, it was never to the point of swooning. I did enjoy the ending, it was very promising and if anyone can improve James, that is Sin.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in an exchange for a honest review. This book seemed to go in circles with no clear direction which is so unlike this author. It was so stagnant with no depth of feelings between James and Cynthia (Sin). At one point Sin recalled the entire story to her friend Jasmine. It was actually a cliff note version of the previous 70% of the book. I kept waiting for 'something' to turn the tide but that 'something' never materialized.
This was a great story. I was interested to see how things would go when Ruby turned the brothel over to her half-sister. This story focuses on her friend Sin and her brother James. James is upset that Jasmine runs a brothel and will do anything to get her out. I loved how Sin didn’t just give in to James but made him work and tell her his feelings before she agreed to marry him. I am interested to see how the rest of the series plays out.
Sin is actually the nickname of Cynthia. Once you know that you kinda get the story. I was quite surprised, because when this book opens it starts with Jasmine and the story is really about Jasmine's brother and James. I liked the women, portrayed as smart, thinking women. But the men can be a tad overzealous when it comes to physical matters. James hires goons to kidnap his sister, but they abduct the wrong woman and that's where the story unfolds.
Mostly enjoyable book with some great sexy scenes but it loses steam after a while. There isn’t much tension in the book and the premise, frankly, made me want to bop the hero or hit him on the head with a frying pan. Kidnaping is not romantic - please stop making it so. However, in general once you get past the premise he is largely unobjectionable- nothing too special but is a competent enough foil.
Mostly it’s the heroine which tips his book back into three stars territory. She is spirited but not in an over the top way and her reaction to being kidnaped was believable. I wish the author has focused on that conflict just a little more as it was very pat. However, that would have dragged the book into more painful territory which was likely not the intent. I get it but didn’t really like that choice.
This is a breezy, erotic focused novel. Don’t expect a lot and if you can’t get part the kidnaping please don’t read it. It will leave a bad taste in your mouth. I chose to wilfully ignore it but despite that the aftertaste makes this a 2.5 star book for me rounded up for the heroine.
I have been so excited about this series. Each story gets better and better. I love how Sin and James come together and we see from beginning how this good girl goes bad at the hands of a rogue! So much fun, so much hotness and you even have some intrigue thrown in for good measure.
This one can be read as a Standalone... ( I did that) and you can understand pretty much everything. From this point I'm guessing there are books to come because I really need to know What happened to Jasmine and whose baby she had.
