Five bestselling Western romance authors have created a world like no other - full of fun outside activities, a huge family in need of love, and side characters you will never forget. A world where our characters learn, laugh, and love.
Discover River's End Ranch, a gorgeous "destination ranch and resort" in Riston, Idaho, that is run by the six Weston siblings and their well-meaning, semi-retired parents.
Kelsi Weston, the youngest of six siblings, loves life. She has a job she adores, is surrounded by people she loves, and gets to work with people she cares about. If only she could keep cooks in the café she manages, life would be perfect. When her long-time boyfriend announces he’s leaving town for a new job on the same day her cook leaves with no notice, she does what she always does. She handles it.
Sheriff Shane Clapper has loved Kelsi for years, going to her café for lunch every day simply so he can see her. When he hears she’s broken up with her boyfriend, he immediately goes to the café to make his move. Why let grass grow under his feet? He knows what he wants, and he plans to get it!
Will the sheriff be able to convince Kelsi she would be happier with him? Or will she give into her mother’s demands to date the man picked out for her?
I'm sorry to say that this was not good. It was clean and safe (absolutely no OP drama and the H wasn't a manho), which I really appreciated, but it was also boring. The premise was ridiculous, and the dialogue was too generously peppered with exclamation points. (Sorry, pun intended.) I wasn't engaged and I'm not sure if I'll continue on with this series.
This book wasn't for me. I didn't like the characters, they were just plain silly. There was a lot of mumbo jumbo about bigfoot, gnomes, leprechauns and fairies. It was a ridiculous story and I'll be giving the rest of the series a miss.
I have harped about lack of quirks and uniqueness. But that's all that exists in this book, and it sucks. There isn't a plot and the pacing is all screwed up. The characters are cute, but a guy that fills in for the cook then wins the girl would have been such a better story.
This was a really cute read if not a little short. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for too. I usually don't go for cutsy, super-clean romance novels, but if that's what you're looking for this is probably a really good way to go.
It took a minute to get the him to open up, so for the first few pages it was some boring chit-chat, but the scenes between them were really cute and sweet. It's not an overtly religious romance story, but it was very clean and mentions church, if that's what you're looking for. I think they only kissed twice in the whole book.
She refers to a pretty rough break-up and I wish the author had gone into that back-story more, but it was glossed over. I think in the book they only knew each other a few weeks, so it was fast paced but you get your standard cute HEA.
This is a cute, silly little romance. There isn't really any character building, at all. It's very one-dimensional. But if you need a super fluff read after reading something a little disturbing, this would be it.
Short quick read. Felt like I was reading a junior high book for girls. Did not care for the descriptions of either character. 4 years before you let someone know you are interested? I am not interested in reading another. Sorry!
If you are a fan of short, fun, clean romances then you will enjoy this book and this series. I became a fan of Kirsten Osbourne last year when I stumbled across the American Mail-Order Brides Series. I am a fan of this type of "formula" story for quick and easy reads between phone calls at work.
In Short-Order Sheriff you first meet the Westin family who own the River's End Ranch, a destination vacation in Idaho. There are six siblings: Wade, Wyatt, Will, Wes, Kelsi, and Dani, and their cousin, Jess, who was raised with them after her parents died in a car accident when she was little.
Each subsequent book is about either a Westin sibling or a River's End employee who finds love at the ranch. There are five authors writing this series and they do an amazing job of including each other's characters and keeping all of the details straight! And, the best part, new books in this series are still coming out every two weeks!
Modern day hero and short order cook? Shane Clapped has been known to rescue Kelsi Weston on a fairly regular basis. After all he's gone to her restaurant every day for lunch for years. None of the waitresses ever wait on him,not that Kelsi ever notices until her long time boyfriend takes off to Disney. When her mom discovers that Kelsi is single she demands that she marry a man of her choosing, but Shane has other ideas. Mel's can marry him and since he's got enough love for both of them, things will be perfect!
So we have the start of another cooperative series, I liked the new world we are visiting, River's End Ranch, a dude ranch that is run by siblings, where each one has a role and a story. This first book by Kirsten Osbourne is about Kelsi, the manager of the local cafe, and Shane, the Sheriff of the town. This is another book full of silly, unique characters, a Sheriff that knows exactly what he wants and is not afraid to go after his love, controlling parents, and a family that is ready to do anything for each other. It was an entertaining book, but the situations were too unreal, not that it needs to be more realistic, it's good as it is. If you like the style of Kirsten, of quick weddings and crazy love, with silly characters and outgoing heroes, this book is for you.
I got this at the RT convention this year and decided to read it. After starting it I realized I had read the second one in the series back in November!
The series goes around 6 Weston siblings and other people on River's End Ranch. This one is with Kelsi Weston. She has lost her cook for her cafe and her boyfriend of 8 years all in the same day. Sheriff Shane takes that as he que to go get the girl he's been in love with for the last four years.
The story is told in a dual-ish POV it really doesn't have set chapters or symbols letting you know it's switching you just kinda have to figure that out on your own. It's a short novella that's about 186 pages or so. It's not a religious book but it is a super clean book no cursing and maybe 3 kisses.
"He stood and put his hat on his head, striding toward the door. If Kelsi was available, he wasn't going to wait for her to find someone else. No, this was his chance with the sweet woman, and she was going to be his."
So Shane goes to see Kelsi as soon as word gets out that she was dumped and he's ready to go make his move. It kinda bothered me that she was just dumped and 10 minutes later he's already going and asking her out. I get it he's been in love with her for four years but have some class and wait a day!!
Another thing is everyone but Kelsi knows he's in love with her so when he asks her out she takes a second to think about him in that way and instantly pictures a life and babies with him but she had just said she never looked at him in that way so it was a bit confusing.
It was kinda cute and made you smile at times. Especially Jaclyn and her fairies and gnomes!! Poor George!
This first story for the River's End Ranch series was awesome as all of Kirsten Osbourne's stories are. I love Kelsey's story of her running the café at River's End Ranch and the sheriff in Riston, ID. where the ranch is located, who comes in every morning to eat his breakfast. He sits in the same place everyday and Kelsey always takes his order and sits with him as she does so. They talk a bit as she yells his order in and they just talk. They do this everyday and everyone else knows he likes her a lot and she likes him but hasn't let on and when he finally asks her out he gets up and tells asks her in front of everyone in the café. I loved that part and also thought he was sneaky knowing she couldn't say no that way. Well as you know the story goes on and there are always up and downs but I loved every bit of this story. The is first must read of this series and you meet all the Westin Siblings that are running the ranch and getting tests from their parents that are on a trip around the country. They have spies all around Riston and even on the Ranch but Dani, Kelsey's twin sister gets the info of what they need to do to improve the ranch. They don't get to inherit the ranch unless they can do what their parents tell them they want done. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this story and get this wonderful series kicked off to a great start.
I have heard many positive things about this series, so I wanted to like this novel, but I just couldn’t. There was no plot, no character development, and the pacing was haphazard. The story was told through Kelsi’s and Shane’s perspectives, but there was no indicator for when the point of view switched—it would sometimes happen from one paragraph to the next. It was a clean romance (if you could call it a romance at all—again, no development of their relationship and feelings for one another). I am going to read more of the series because there are different authors writing the next few books, but I’m not sure I would read another novel by this author.
Well I kind of started this series at the most recent book and couldn't wait to go back and start at the beginning. The is going to be an awesome series. I'm a HUGE fan of Kirsten Osbourne's historical romances so I decided to give this a try. What I've seen, several of my favorite authors are in on this project and I can't wait to read more. Maybe I will even find some new ones to love.
I love sweet, small town romances but this wasn't super memorable. It was a little slow-paced, didn't have much of a story to it & had ZERO sex scenes. (I mean the most we got was a less-than-passionate smooch.) I really wish it had been more engaging because the Hero had a lot of potential.
Even though the first five books were free when I got them, I probably won't be continuing on with this series.
You know the guy or gal you've had serious thought/ feelings about and he/ ,she is final available! ? Well that's how the story starts. Shane final gets her attention. Very 🔥spicy food and the search for big foot, talk of gnomes, fairies doesn't scare him. Now have siblings running the family business and parents to controlling. Romance, comedy and love with all the above mentioned items make for a fantastic story. Want to read more in this series.
Love always happens so easily in books! Kelsi and Shane are made to be together, at least Shane is sure of it. Kelsi isn't positive about that at first. Her mom wants to fix her up with an annoying guy that she knew back in elementary school. She wanted none of that. Jaclyn said the fairies said that Kelsi and Shane should be a couple. He wants to marry her, she did like him, but could she ever truly love him as much as he loved her? Great story!
Short Order Sheriff – Kirsten Osbourne – In the weird way of small towns, apparently when your short order cook quits without notice, you ask the local sheriff to fill in. It does help if the sheriff in question has been in love with you for four years waiting on you to break up with your high school boyfriend. This one has small town charm in spades with some quirky sweetness that made me smile. Happy Reading!
There just wasn't much of a story to this book. The main character seems shallow - one boyfriend leaves so insert the sheriff. Then throw in ridiculously controlling parents - I mean what woman finds a husband for her grown daughter and sends him to their home town? It was all just very odd. I'll try the second in the series and hope it gets better; but if not that might be the end for me.
I usually try to give a book the benefit of the doubt. I maybe got to the third chapter and I had to stop. It is way too cutesy, too cliché. There’s no build up to the romance as far as I can see. I mean, the sheriff told her how he feels pretty much by halfway through the first chapter. So, I wouldn’t recommend this story at all.
Kelsi (Weston) & Shane An adorable, blonde, happy, fun loving, bubbly Big Foot Hunter, a long term boyfriend, a by the book, down to earth sheriff, 4 brothers, 1 sister and a pair off kooky parents introduce readers to the Weston family and Rivers End Rach (and assorted off center supporting cast) and a fun romp through northern Idaho.
I love the concept of a family running a large guest ranch, I can tell by the first book, that we will get to see the operation of each aspect of the ranch as the stories roll out. Kelsi and Shane's story started smoothly and kept me interested all through the book. I am looking forward to the next one in the series.
Short-Lived Sheriff was a nice short read, kind of bland. The only developed character was Kelsi, the hyperactive free spirit. I thought she was goofy strange, but I managed to get through the story allright.
I had to stop at 38% I just couldn’t force myself to read anymore. I really really wanted to like this story. It felt like Kelsi is more masculine then Shane. For him to be a sheriff he sure was kinda a b1c$7. Punctuations in the wrong place. Man, I really wanted to like this book. I’m sad now.
The first of a wonderful series about a small town and a family ranch with wonderful characters. This is about Kelsi & her husband to be Shane and the way they met and the upcoming events in the ranch.
I cannot wait to read the rest in this series. This was a standalone read but all the characters have a personality that pulls you in to find out how their story is going to be told. A family you can trust to have your back with values you want. Well written and perfectly paced.
