An alternate cover for this ASIN can be found here.

I’d fought to lead a normal life, despite being anything but.
Until the night three monsters forced me to fight for survival instead.
They turned a short walk through the woods into the road trip to Hell.
The leader made me his, made me dread pleasure and relish pain. Made me want things I’d once feared.
They wanted to break me, bleed me drop by drop.
They picked the wrong witch.

Author’s Note:

The light at the bottom of this rabbit hole is tinted obsidian, and I put the characters in this story through the ringer. Not for the faint-hearted, this read explores the dark side of obsession, in all its forms. Adults only from this point. Strap in and buckle up. Keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times. Because the teeth lurking ahead are razor sharp and the blood they seek might be yours. Please, do not attempt to exert your human morals on the fictional beasts you will meet. They'll just laugh while they rip you to shreds.

OMG!!! What did I just read !!!!
I really don't know where to start with this review.
Die By the Drop (Shivers and Sins #1) by Kaia Bennett is going to be such a super hard one to articulate my thoughts about. All I know is that I need to get my concepts down on paper while they're still fresh in my head.
And as I have already started to read The second instalment. where we get to play around in Jesse's head this time, I would like to keep the two experience's as separate as possible as I'm finding the two seem to have slightly different flavours to them.
So first a huge warning, Please take this author's disclaimer seriously "Die By The Drop" is not for the faint of heart, it is at times a very hard pill to swallow.
And also on a side note If I had to classify this there is no way I would shelve this under dark paranormal romance, There is nothing in any way shape or form romantic about this story.
In my opinion, erotic horror is closer to the mark with this.
"Die By The Drop" contains graphic themes of rape, murder and torture and it is all described explicitly, no punches are pulled here.
If you think you can handle that level of dark and depraved then, by all means, strap in for the ride, but, you have been warned so please do take notice of this.
So now I have that warning out of the way let's begin.
first, let me give you a brief outline,
Evie is stolen from her life.
Her everyday mundane existence with her cookie cutter family and her lack-lustre boyfriend Manny.
While attending a party in the woods, Evie feels off not feeling it and with an unexplainable sense of dread she bickers with her boyfriend and decides to ditch.
On the way back to her vehicle Poor Evie encounters two males (Liam and Vaughn) in a terrifying game of cat and mouse the two give chase eventually easily subduing her and setting a nightmare in motion that Evie has no idea is only just starting for her.
They are joined by there brother in arms and leader of there rag-tag little crew Jesse.
This trio of brothers are so in sync, they've been hunting together for years and have chosen Evie as their next meal/fuck toy.
As Evie finds herself dying fading away on the forest floor she reaches deep into her psyche and pulls forth from her inner depths an overwhelming will to survive at any cost.
Calling on abilities she has suppressed for years Evie summons her resolve and allows her senses to quicken.
An empath and natural witch Evie uses these gifts to capture the interest of a predator.
intrigued despite himself Jesse calls a halt to proceedings and decides to take the witch along for the ride as a side-diversion.
Evie for the moment is alive, but for how long and will she be the same if she ultimately survives this cross-country road trip of terror and depravity.
Evie is now in the company of Vampires and she herself is their ready-meal of sweet intoxicating witches blood with a side offering of easy sex.
It Gives a whole new meaning to the term playing with your food and meals on wheels, doesn't it?.

So First, point-I have never read anything from this author before and despite the hard subject matter dealt with here this is so very well written that despite my internal cringing and revulsion I was glued and enthralled with an almost morbid compulsion to continue.
I couldn't stop reading if you paid me, I was fascinated, repelled, addicted and revolted all at the same time.
So This had to be one of the darkest if not the darkest book I have ever read, just when I thought this had reached the bottommost depths of depravity and it couldn't possibly get any worse, you've guessed it, yep it deteriorated.
I actually found myself hating Vaughn so much his and Liam's actions I found particularly hard to fathom there lack of humanity and empathy considering they were once human was at times difficult to grasp.
Jesse, I kinda comprehend his lack of humanity considering its an affliction he has never suffered from, notice I don't say understand or condone as there is nothing that can make the atrocities committed by these three at all understandable.
Their actions are evil whichever way you look at them, in every way, shape and form imaginable.
Bloodlust doesn't make you cruel, uncaring and evil personified.
The way they taunt and play with their victims does that.
Drunk on their own power and arrogance, thinking that their top of the food chain and everything else is just a blood sack to use and abuse. like a dog playing with a bone.
Evie being the Bone.
I also think that Vaughn being and seeming such a monster was there to kinda make Jesse seem more sympathetic, this did actually work it was like oh yeh Jesse is so evil!!! but Vaughn is so so much worse mindset.
But really when it comes down to it bad is just bad.
Liam, well he was like the badly influenced much younger baby brother going along for the ride, he was so easily influenced and seemed quite simple in his overall dealings, almost seeming like a such a child at times, it was all just about the sex blood and the hunt for him.
The whole underground supernatural storyline with vampire hotels room service with hazmat suits and complimentary meals on the house and V-Strep (A Vampire disease) very inventive adored this aspect of the book.
I enjoyed how this story progressed and you really had absolutely no idea where you were heading, this made for some very unexpected situations encountered along the way.
I liked where we left off with this and though "Die By The Drop" was not the easiest to stomach at times, I do like where we left it and I honestly can say I will definitely be continuing (as I said earlier I already have started.)
How could I not? this is not the sort of story you just quit, it's one where no matter how great your abhorrence of the individuals involved your compliance is not just an option its a given.
So in case, you didn't get the memo
Vaughn- Hate his guts strongly.
Liam-Actively disliking Him.
Jesse-want to rip his heart out, let him heal then do it all over again just for shit and giggles.
Evie-Such a strong individual, I want to cry so bad for her. Poor Poor girl.

So I'm going to leave it here, "Die By The Drop" By Kaia Bennet may not be for everyone.
It's fucked up and all sorts of disturbing, but it is the sort of train that once you've got on your there for the ride.
Sheer doggedness kept me there for the journey and when the going got rocky I just clung tighter to my seat to avoid expulsion. I wanted things to change for Evie so much I just wasn't going anywhere.
I So just wanted her to catch a break.
I expect this tale is going to very much like marmite for people,
It is going be a love/Hate job with few in-betweens.
One last thought and I'll stop waffling on.
I think the author Kaia Bennet was very brave going the way she did with this it could have blown up in her face big style.
massive gutts from her indeed.
In my opinion, she's done a fantastic job and while I can't say it's always been a pleasure.
Its certainly and most definitely been one hell of a ride.
I am so looking forward to the journey take two will bring.

It’s just a room, Evie.
I knew my lie couldn’t ward me against the truth. The threshold between the past and the present awaited, cloaked in the guise of a motel room door. The only thing I could choose was how I crossed over.

description

In a way I hadn’t since he’d kidnapped me, I fell into Jesse’s desires. His plans for me.
I shuddered, seeing endless roads sprawl, dust and snow, sun and gray winds. Time stretched before me like state line after state line until he grew bored and drained me dry.

Warning for mild spoilers throughout this review

I've been struggling to write a cohesive review, to explain why this story has become a favorite of mine. Basically, Die by the Drop is the tale of how Evie, a witch, gets caught up with a group of vampires during their 'free run' - a road trip from hell. I sped through during my first read, but while rereading so much more stuck out to me. Underneath the horror, sex, and violence is a surprisingly layered story. I’ve started the second book and I’m amazed at the amount of foreshadowing this contains.

The author was clearly influenced by vampire horrors such as Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite. One review mentioned how this doesn't contain much vampire mythology. Well, these aren't Anne Rice's vampires. Like Brite, Bennett explores the visceral compulsion vampires have to feed, fuck, and kill (to put it bluntly). What makes this unique is how deeply it delves into erotic horror. I’m sure there are others like Die by the Drop out there, but I haven’t seen this much graphic description in any other vampire book. I was shocked while reading. There were jaw dropping moments of violence and cruelty. And I'm a horror fan, rarely shocked. Unlike Rice's philosophical, existential, and asexual vampires, these vampires are more nihilistic in their nature. Absolutely hedonistic. While reading I was amazed by how strongly these vampires were driven by their id. Jesse, Vaughn, and Liam were like addicts with their compulsion to feed. In no way were vampires glamorized in this book. These are creatures I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. Their existence is so incredibly hellish vampirism in this author’s world truly seems like a curse.

The vampire mythology

On the surface it may seem like this book lacks vampire mythology, because the focus of the book is very much in the moment with emphasis on the physical. With that said, this is also a coming of age tale for a witch (albeit a dirty & twisted one), and I was fascinated by the author's descriptions of how the heroine’s empathetic abilities intertwined with the vampires on a psychic level. The book is so shocking it’s easy to miss, but there are hints from the author there’s much more going on between Jesse and Evie than what first meets the eye:

I am the fount, the bearer of life. Drink of life, as I drink of death. Drink of me. Drop by drop—

This dance between Jesse and I seemed as simple as predator and victim, and yet, maybe we’d stumbled onto more in these woods. Maybe this push and pull between us had always been ancient and primordial. Unavoidable.

I’m hoping the author explores more of this in the next book. While this book sets the stones for a dark romance in book 2, right now their connection isn’t love. It’s a compulsion and a power struggle.

Note on Jesse’s characterization:

Speaking of Vaughn,

During my first read through I hated Vaughn, but during my second read through I fucking loved him. The author did such a good job writing a sadistic, cruel vampire. He has the most stage presence out of all the characters in this book. He’s layered too – with his relationship with Liam that bordered on romantic (??) as well as his loyalty to his brothers. The push and pull, jealousy as well as loyalty towards Jesse. So much foreshadowing with these lines:

Vaughn turned to face me. His eyes were that bleached blue I found just as terrifying as the predatory blackness when he fed. “I don’t care how much Jesse likes fucking you, or how smooth you taste going down. Those are my boys in there. They’re like brothers to me. You fuck Jesse over, or put him and Liam in danger, and I’ll make that vision you saw in my head seem like a vacation. You understand?”

Evie is a threat to Vaughn’s status quo, and he treats her accordingly. In an odd way I respected his loyalty to his brothers and love for Liam.

Evie –

This book is written in first person POV, and all from the heroine’s POV. I’ve noticed most of my favorite books use first person POV and are usually solely from the heroine’s perspective. I like getting inside the character’s head, and when written well the stories feel more vivid to me than third person POV. I like having to pay attention to subtext and read between the lines to guess at what the mmcs are thinking. What the author did with Evie’s character that was brilliant was make her an empath. The reader not just knows, but feels what the vampires are feeling because Evie has the ability to empathetically connect with them. I loved passages like this one:

Good. I hope you have that look on your face when I kill you.

I blinked and turned my stare from Vaughn’s face. I could have been Vaughn’s twin, my thoughts all blood, sex, and vengeance. I didn’t know which of us had voiced the murderous thought. But I knew I could almost climax thinking of Vaughn’s life bleeding out into my hands.

I didn’t see his death, but I felt Vaughn sink his teeth into the boy’s throat. My fingers shook at the vicarious rush.

Yes, Vaughn’s voice echoed through my head while he sucked the boy dry. The monster crooned to him in his mind, as if he could hear the soothing commands. That last breath, that last moment of struggle is my favorite part. Give it to me, give it up.

I could feel the vampires need to feed, their rush from the kill while reading unlike any other vampire book I’ve come across before.

The writing -

I recently gave a NA book a 2 star rating for being what I considered trashy and crude. While reading I realized Die by the Drop could easily be considered trashy and crude to others. Frankly, there are crude and vulgar moments in this book. So what’s the difference between that 2 star NA book and this one? Authenticity. The vampires’ acts of cruelty, their dialogue, etc all came across as authentic. I have to mention Evie’s POV was done so well. The author clearly was in the moment with Evie. What would it be like for a young woman to be kidnapped and put into these extreme circumstances? The author nailed her POV. It made this fantastical story come across as more realistic, and helped me suspend disbelief. There were times the writing was lovely as well. Poetic in the midst of horror:

In the center lay the naked girl Vaughn and Liam had killed. She took the coveted spot where the main course presides. Her eyes remained open, her head tilted back with an apple shoved deep into her mouth. She’d become a delicacy, basted in her own screams, and still she wept, her tears having outlived her. Guests collected the salty drops in their wine glasses and nodded their heads at the vintage. They laughed while spearing succulent portions of her flesh onto fine china.
Beside me, Jesse sat like a bronzed god of death. Naked from the waist up, espresso locks falling over his shoulders like a cloak. He slid his thumb into my mouth. I sucked, swirling my tongue around the thick pad as he thrust within my welcoming flesh.

Kaia Bennett has a gift with language, a talent for creating a beautiful turn of phrase.

A bit random, but any doubts I had about giving this book 5 stars ended when the author had the vampires take an exit off I 35 in Austin to bury a vampire in the Greenbelt ❤️ I used to live in Austin, and the idea of burying a vampire in the Greenbelt while on a roadtrip is perfect on so many levels.

This was me for most of this book.

Especially the insane first half, filled to the brim with sex and murder.

"I'm gonna hurt you so good, baby, you'll learn to need the pain."

I had a feeling I was going to like this book, and it's one of the rare times I was actually right about such a thing. It didn't just exceed my expectations: it threw them on the ground and stomped all over them.

Her screams echoed off the cave walls. I plugged my ears, dying to block the beginning of their worst kill. I was terrified and selfish.

And ravenous.

Evie is kidnapped by three vampires, and they're my favorite kind of vampires: cruel, sexy, ruthless—all of it a cover for well-hidden pain. *swoon* They take her on a crazy road trip, stopping in motels with special cleaning services (someone has to get rid of the bodies). They murder people, bathe in blood, and fuck the daylights out of each other. Through it all, Evie continuously tries to gain the upper hand through psychic powers she didn't know she had, and attempts to process the horrible things she witnesses and experiences.

This book combines my favorite things about good vampire fiction: scenes of shocking brutality, sex, existential musings, and writing that, while not perfect or amazing, was just poetic enough to balance it all out. It even managed to break my heart a little.

How strange, to hate to my marrow something I pitied with all my heart.

4.5 stars! Bring on the sequel!

First a warning. This is NOT a romance novel. If you go into reading this expecting the typical romance, paranormal or erotica, then you'll be disappointed. There is kidnapping, rape, torture and psychological trippiness. It is a very dark book.

I give it three stars because is very well written and provocative. If I enjoyed books with this sort of dark hedonism then this could be a damn near five star book. But I don't, it really isn't to my taste but I can appreciate a well done work.

My oh my...this was deliciously dark. After a fight with her boyfriend, Evie is hunted by a pack of vampires. I say pack because they are, and act like, predators. They taunt, they thrill in the chase, and they relish the kill...well, the almost kill. Jesse, Vaughn, and Liam get a surprise when they get their first taste of Evie--sweet witch blood, and Jesse (the leader) decides why gorge himself when he can sip and savor indefinitely.

What follows is horrifying even by my standards, and I loved every dark and dirty second of it.
Ms. Bennett has a way with words that won't be everybody's cup of tea, but I loved it. I loved the imagery...
"She'd become a delicacy, basted in her own screams, and still she wept, her tears having outlived her. Guests collected the salty drops in their wine glasses and nodded their heads at the vintage."

I loved how she could make even crying sound beautiful...
"Saline trails of regret tickled my face..."

And even though she used one of my most hated words--turgid--she got extra points for using "viscous" and actually meaning viscous and not vicious.

Violence, sex, violent sex, love, loss, despair--this was a roller coaster that I didn't want to get off, and it ended on one hell of a cliffhanger.

*Kinda' spoilery and goddamned gross*

I knew going in that this would be a difficult, brutal read. I was thrilled by the fact that the vampires presented in this book were not full of OTT angst, and sparkly. They were apex predators, and not of the natural, noble kind. They were, in measured doses, cruel, nasty pieces of bloody work. And they were hot. I mean - how else could they lure their victims/food so easily if they weren't?

I understood Evie's journey and her fight to survive, even when it seemed liked everything was hopeless. I got the whole Stockholm thing that was going on, and I appreciated the characters and their motivations presented within a sick as fuck road trip to hell and back. The healing qualities of vampire blood and other bodily fluids was a novel idea. The author is a very good writer.

Unfortunately for me though, all of this took a back seat to Evie's PUSSY. Her wet, throbbing, aching, bleeding, tortured, starving pussy. Paragraphs and pages of pussy soliloquies, many of which I had to skip over. Evie's poontang was the star of the story. Pussy clench this, pussy clench that. One Pussy, Two Pussies, Red Pussy, Blue Pussy. One or two detailed pussy features would have been enough...you know, sometimes implying something over a repetitive step-by-step, OTT explanation is better.
And with all of the pussy details...why did the author neglect to explain why the vampires were using a motel room with blackout curtains at the beginning of the story, yet were capable of walking about during the day? Less pussy and more on how/why these assholes were 'daywalkers' would have been nice.

I'd be interested in reading the second book to get an ending here, but paying $4 bucks for potentially more PUSSY pages does not interest me in the least.
This book barely got its weak 3 stars.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

After an argument in the woods with her boyfriend, Evie and Manny part ways and she is attacked and kidnapped by three crazed men. Two of the men want to ravage and kill her right away, but the leader of the group, Jesse has other plans for her. Evie is taken on an evil cross country road trip and is forced to do things in order to try to survive her ordeal.

Evie slowly discovers that she has a powerful gift at her disposal, she simply doesn't know how to use it to her advantage yet. Her gift is the ability to get inside the heads of her captors, to see their visions of both past and future events. In order to save herself she will have to embrace the dark side that resides in her, just below the surface.

This isn't a love story with a neatly packaged happily ever after. The writing is very good but there are a lot of deeply disturbing things that happen to Evie and other unfortunate souls. This very dark tale is strictly for experienced vampire lovers who like their stories very dark and twisted.

So disappointing...
I don't like menage at all but I tried Die by the Drop because I love Sunday by this author so much.
But this book is not good at all.
The mythology of the vampire is lacking, the story isn't gripping enough,it's repetitive and pretty boring.
I coudn't connect with the heroine, the emotional side wasn't there.
The book lacks sensuality, the sex scenes were clinical and cold.
To conclude I don't recommend it.

The scathing 'this book is sick' top review on amazon was what made me grab this book. 2 chapters in, I had to look up this author on FB, follow her, and plan to read everything she writes.
Mad, mad, MAD fucking writing skills.
Creative word art up the freaking ying-yang.

A gripping story that's pages are so drenched in blood, gore, and fear you should need to wring it out before you can see the words on the page.

Not joking. But I couldn't stop turning the crimson pages.

I don't even know how much of this book I read with one hand over my mouth, eyes wide in horror. My guess? Most of it.
This was fucking amazing.
Don't look for a HEA or anything remotely flowery.
Oh, and Triggers GALORE
Can't wait to dig into #2. I grabbed it only a few chapters into #1.

WOW!

I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to like this book, but I can tell you that I LOVED IT! This book is a true dark erotica with promises of romance. I found myself falling for Vaughn, Liam, and Jesse for different reasons, and I'm so happy Kaia is never afraid to go after the taboo and dark part of us all. I need book 2 to come out NOW.

This is my review and how I see it. This is my fourth story by this author. I enjoyed this book! A very dark erotica story. If you do not like non-consent stories, pass this one by...although I have to tell you I could not put it down (except to work, even then it was hard).

As a reader of this fascinating book I had to see what was going to happen to Evie, what she would do on this forced journey with Jesse, Vaughn and Liam. Jesse the leader of the group took a real liking to Evie. I believe Vaughn wanted her even though all he thought of doing was making her his personal toy and then killing her and Liam I am not so sure, maybe he already had his one true love...

The dynamic between the three vamps was interesting as well as how Jesse treated Evie right up till then end. Evie proved to be a beta heroine with alpha tendencies as she fought to survive her living nightmare. I hope there is more to this story, and I hope Evie can fight the bloodlust Jesse unknowingly left her with or did he know what was going to happen?

Will Jesse come for Evie or will something more sinister come for her in the form of Jesse's father or one of his minions. I truly believe Jesse has feelings for Evie or her would not have kept her alive.

He did not seem to be as upset about Vaughn as he was about Liam...I wonder why? Interesting very interesting...indeed very interesting. Kaia Bennett, this book right here...girl I am so hot with you about the cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the rest of the story.

This is my review and how I see it.

I beta read this book for the author for an honest review.

I was extremely fortunate to be asked to beta read this book as I have been a fan of Kaia Bennett since "Sunday". That book made such a lasting impression on me as one of the HOTTEST books I have ever read, while also having one of the most relateable and honest storylines ever. So when I heard that not only was this author writing a Paranormal romance (hello PNR is my jam!), but a DARK PNR, OMG I flipped. I could not get my hands on this book fast enough.

Without giving away any spoilers, this book is about our heroine, Evie, who is a witch and her three vampire captors. What completely blew me away was the fact that despite the somewhat DARK and gory scenes throughout (brace yourself people, Ms. Bennett does NOT pull her punches,) this story is inherently a love story. It tells a story of an evil man who might have found his weakness and a strong woman who has not only come into her own, but might have also met her match.

At times, in all honesty I had my hand partially covering my eyes as I frantically tapped my kindle to the next page because I could not stop reading. I was scared, obsessed and consumed. This novel was HOT as hell and I NEEDED to continue Evie's journey as you eventually become her #1 cheerleader: You root for her, feel her pain and inner conflict but also hope that she will find love and happiness.

Ms. Bennett has a remarkable gift in that she can paint a picture for her readers with a myriad of colors not only highlighting her exceptional ability as a writer but also highlighting her seamless ability to weave multi-cultural and diverse heroes and heroines without making it the focal point of her stories. She is a "real" writer who is relateable and so so current in comparison to alot of her peers. Hats off to her.

I feel truly blessed to have met her acquaintance (and who I can stalk on a regular basis about getting me book 2 stat.)

Bravo to the author. You killed it! (just hopefully not Evie's man ;) )

4 Stars!

It's been a long while since I've sucked down a PNR. Actually, I'm not sure this could be called romance. It's dark, bloody, and completely addictive. I loved the concept, but I was hoping for more details into the world I had been sucked into. This is the first book, an outline to what I assume could be a series of total darkness, a new world to crave. I'm definitely intrigued and in need of more. More of everything. Every scene was brought to life in vivid detail, I hung onto every word, breathless.

If you like paranormal stories and/or dark stories. You should definitely check this one out!!

As an avid reader, I've read my share of paranormal stories. Trendy, Mainstream. Dark. Shifter. Witches. Ghouls. Vampires. You name it, I've read at least five related books. Die by the Drop. The first experience I've had under Bennett's expertise is one I won't soon forget.

Die by the Drop actually cross multiple genres. I won't insult this five star read by categorizing as a vampire novel. It's so much more and Bennett is a genius! The opening scene is shrouded in a level of mystery, intrigue, and darkness. As a reader you KNOW something is going to happen. You're waiting for the ax to fall. You know something life changing is seconds from occurring. The beauty of Bennett's writing is based on the angle of the scene, until the very last minute, the reader doesn't know if the "ax" will fall on Manny or Evie! Note to the world: Get. A. Room. Don't get naked in the middle of nowhere at a bonfire. Interested yet? Oh yeah! Whether you're a fan of PR or not, this story will drag you in and exploit you and your emotions until you're a whimpering mess of hormones! The sex, drama, mind games, and the scenes in general are extremely graphic, raw, and brilliantly written! Who knew vamps could get down like they did in this story?

Sooooo before you purchase this story and try to get to the good stuff, note the following: this story is extremely dark and graphic. You should NOT pop your vamp cherry with this story IF all you've read is vanilla or gray. I'm a lover of pitch black and this story is a perfect example of pitch black times ten! Don't skim to the sex scenes. You have to understand the mind games to truly appreciate how certain individual(s) play ____________'s body like a violin! It's beyond anything human I can assure you. And last but not least, savor every moment. A dramatic beginning and a drama ending in a story seals the deal for me as a reader. This story has both in spades! The ending will gut you. The feels throughout the story are mind blowing but the ending? WOWZA! You're not ready. Why? Read it and see.

Omg! This book is amazing, dangerous, gruesome, intimidating and will cause you to attack your husband (in a naughty way of course) "Oh, it's so hot, and I need some air." My goodness, where has this book been all my life?! Mrs. Bennett - {Bravo!}

I love all things vampires.. (Especially the evil one's NOT the sparkling one's) and this book had some sadistic vampires that at one point (I was wishing for Mr. Edward Cullen to make an appearance) Hey, just saying!!

We have "3" sadistic psychopath vampires;

• Jesse the leader (remind me of frickin Gerardo, RRRRRRicooo) becomes possessive of Evie!

• Vaughn (remind me of a mix of Billy Idol and Kiefer Sutherland, when he played that nasty serial rapist on Eye for an Eye! Ewwww Yuk!) Anyhow, this Bastard scared the shit out of me. But I kinda liked him too. Don't judge! He hates Evie!

• Liam (remind me of the unabomber) the youngest/newest vampire.

They basically kidnap college student, Evie (because her blood is very special) and take this poor girl on a horror ride of her life. Blood Lust, Double Penetration, Kinky Sex, Knife-Play, Torture, Etc.

This book had some similarities to the shows; True Blood and The Vampire Diaries. I definitely would recommend this to fellow paranormal lovers who love pure darkness, gore.

Overbearingly wicked!

So the first word that comes to mind is depraved. This book is a dark glimpse into what happens when the things that roar in the night, get a hold of you and peel back the curtain on their world. It's a proper exploration of being cut loose of the chains of morals and decency. A blood induced Portrait of taking what you want, when you want it, in the less humane way possible. It's mirrored by what you are willing to let go of and lose in order to survive.

It's hauntingly well written. It's the kind of book, that leaves your emotions raw. Praying it will end but also, wanting to see what happens next .

Scary good read! Certainly not for the faint of heart. For those who have ever wondered what happened to good girls while they're in the clutches of monsters. And for Evie, the empathic witch discovering her powers, she must not only appease her captors but show them she is no willing prey. This story is horrifyingly gripping, as our heroine struggles to keep her humanity and sense of self after one atrocity after another. Now I can't wait to find out what happens to her after Jesse's left her to her fate, that I'm sure was no accident.

There were intriguing moments, but I am not a fan of manege, sharing or orgies (all of which you can find in this book).

This book reads like straight up porn, sex every few pages with all the guys in their group. I prefer emotional stories even if it has too much sex, this isnt for me.

Crazy, sick, twisted

Not a romance........
More closer to an Erotic Horror/Paranormal

These Vamp boys are not the bad boys with redeeming qualities.
They fuck, kill and pretty much do whatever the hell they want.

Ends in a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next book.

Dark...

...Dark, dark. Listen to this author when she gives you her warning. This is not for the squeamish, and I was enthralled. Well written and engaging.

Not sure where to start with this book. The writing was good so I was pulled into the story but it was just too dark for me. I am curious about the second book but for my peace of mind I am just going to have to pass. Spoiled by all the happily ever after I guess.

2.25 Stars. I did not like this book. This story did not included the mythological world of these vampires; rather, the author's note speaking of the dark side of obsession, the vampires seem obsessed with over coming bloodlust, the witch seems obsessed with staying alive and eventually killing the vampires. The heroine and witch, Evelyn "Evie" Pierce, is a graduating college senior, at a barn fire with her boyfriend when she is fed from and raped by a trio of traveling vampires. The leader, a natural born vampire is a Native American named Jessie, the scariest and meanest , Vaughn, a White American and made vampire and second in command, Liam, also a made vampire is Black American and the youngest and weakest and does the biddings of the other two. They all consider themselves to be family, brothers. At various times in the story, Evie uses her powers to penetrate the vampires's minds and ascertain info about them to use to her advantage. The vampires are adept at charming humans and then scaring them and having sex with them in order to abate the blood lust because it is fear and sex more than the blood itself that chases the bloodlust away. The author doesn't provide a mythological road map; but, it seems these vampires routinely travel in quest of human contact and have a network of hotels with crew to get rid of dead humans. These vampires are active during the day and night; but, need sleep, they can die if they drink 'tainted' blood, another unexplained pheromone. At any rate, the blood and sex with witchy Evie is sweet and more satisfying than other humans especially to Jesse. Ultimately, Jesse's feeding Evie his blood turns her, Liam dies from tainted blood and Evie stabs Vaughn to death. Because she killed Vaughn, Jesse is tasked with killing her, but she doesn't die...and on it goes to book 2.

This was so far down the rabbit hole hardly a ray of light exists yet I'm strangely and hypnotically drawn deeper into the story.

It's dark and twisted but compelling and addictive. The depravity should have me putting this aside yet I know I'll be waiting for the next book with a longing that should disturb me.

I should feel contempt and revulsion for the wrong did to Evie and I do yet Jesse is so compelling. What has him so obsessed with Evie? Liam was a surprise and I was saddened by the fact his life taken from him. He was dark yet not always so and that had me so emotionally confused. I should hate all parts of the tree men / vampires yet I can't. Vaughn is the only one I found truly evil.

The story was engaging and moved along swiftly with no time for boredom. Nothing is black and white or all good or evil, it's the in-between that is the scariest.

I'm hopelessly obsessed and will follow the author till the end of this twisted adventure and plunge into darkness with all who are willing to follow.
In other words I found this book well written and addictive. A wonderfully warped and hypnotic tale that once you begin reading you won't be able to escape .

Dark book

This was a great dark read I won't call it a romance because of all the madness going on in the book romance just does not quit describe it. Over all I love dark reads and enjoyed Evie and Jesse. Is there a part 2 coming???? Can't wait!!!
