The O'Reilly family's annual gathering around the Jack O'Lantern are short tales that have the perfect blend of spooky and spine tingles. The author does a wonderful job of packing all of that into a couple of pages for each of the 6 stories. You might want to at least leave a nightlight on while you read.

I read this book as part of my #yearofindiewomen.
If you've followed my reviews for a while, you know that Terri Reid's Mary O'Reilly series is among my favorites. These characters have become like old and cherished friends at this point, and any story that brings them back into my life is going to be a welcome delight.
I love that Reid has made these Tales Around The Jack O'Lantern a yearly tradition. They are always so much fun, and I look forward to finding out what all of the O'Reilly's have to share each year. There are sure to be stories to pull at your heartstrings, and this year was no exception. For someone who thrives on being spooked out, surprisingly, those are my favorite stories. Reid really knows how to tell them.
That's why I've fallen so deeply in love with this series. Her characters all love each other and everyone around them so much and work so hard to make the world a better place that it's hard not to come away from these books with a positive attitude. Yes, they are about ghosts and spooky things, but they are just such an overall pleasant and uplifting experience. I can't say enough about how much I love this series.
'Tales Around The Jack O'Lantern 3' is short and sweet and fun. The variety of tales is well-balanced, I felt. There's a good mix of spooky, heartfelt, and a little bit of heartbreak in there, too. She did a good job of packing a lot of story into a small package which is exactly what we've come to expect from this Halloween story.
And I'm forever thankful that Reid is so prolific because I can never get enough of Mary and the gang, and if I had to wait a long time for more of their story, I don't know what I would do. Thankfully, though, she's constantly satiating my craving for more Mary! I just hope this series never ends.
