Hooking Up

Rate this book
It was just supposed to be a one time hook-up... When it comes to guys, Kylie Sullivan plays it safe. So when she meets Ethan Hudson at a post game kickback, she's determined not to let him in. She knows all too well how players play. But when Ethan makes her an offer she can't refuse, Kylie agrees to come off the bench, but just this once. Ethan Hudson might be a professional football player, but he's no player. When he first sets eyes on the fiery strawberry-blond bombshell, he knows he has to have her. Their connection is immediate, and he'll do anything to prove that he's the man for her. But sneaking around with the coach's daughter is no easy feat, and he'll have to do more than just score a touchdown to make it last. He'll have to show Kylie he'd risk everything to keep her.

I revived an ARC in lieu of a honest review! Hooking Up was my first book by Allison Starwood. As well as my first football romance! And I definitely want to read more of both! The book started off a little slow but quickly pulled me in! The plot flowed smoothly! The book was a perfect balance of football, humor, and romance! And it wasn't lacking in a little steam! The characters were well developed and easy to love. I always give props for strong female leads and wasn't disappointed in Kylie! And was far from disappointed with Ethan! He stole my heart from his first appearance in the book! Because honestly what girl doesn't fantasize about a big league Football player! ;) Definitely a enjoyable read, I was so hooked I read it in one day! 5 stars well earned!

Hooking Up, Allison Starwood's novel is nothing short of awesome! I simply couldn't put it down! It didn't hurt that I totally and completely fell head-over-heels in lust with Ethan...and Kylie is a strong-minded, sassy young woman after my own heart!

When Ethan and Kylie meet, the sparks fly and even though Kylie has sworn NEVER to date a football player (player being the operative word here!) she finds herself extremely attracted to the gorgeous, ripped and talented new wide receiver on the professional football team her father just happens to be head coaching! Kylie soon finds out that Ethan is far from the player she assumes him to be!

This steamy and well-written love story has all the elements I look for in a romance...a sexilicious but sensitive hero who can show his emotions, yet still be a man-check! A smart-mouthed, sassy heroine who takes no s*@t from anyone-check! A little tension and drama-check! A ton of hot and delicious sex-check!

Ms Starwood has written an absolute kick-ass novel that will stay with me for a long time to come! I can't wait to see what this talented author comes up with next!

I freaking loved this book. But to be honest, any story about football and I'm hooked. This story was fun and sweet. I always love a good ending as well.

For me, Ethan isn't your typical egotistical football player. He's worked hard to get to where he is and where he wants to be. Kylie could have everything she's ever dreamed of just because of who her father is, but she's made her own way as well. These two were destined to be together.

This book is well written and sucked me in from the beginning, but then again this is kind of my thing. This book flows nicely and I didn't find myself wanting to skip over parts (I do that sometimes, admit it, you do too!) I loved the interaction between the characters in this book. There were times I wanted to beat one character or another, but it didn't over shadow the book and actually gave it a nice flow.

I'm honored to have been given the chance to read this book. I hope there is more to come from Allison and the characters in this book.

An incredibly fun and engaging sports romance with a twist. Ava and Kylie are the daughters of the coach, and Kylie is not impressed by football players, especially Ethan Hudson. Its a fun time to watch as responsible, hard-nosed Kylie warms up to adorable, endearing, and searingly hot Ethan, even though you think they have absolutely no chance in making it.

"He grins and warmth spreads through me, quick and strong enough that I catch my breath."

Struggling with intense attraction, knowing a relationship is forbidden, Starwood takes you on a hysterical, hot, and page-turning quest to see what happens with these two. Hitting bumps in the road, they stumble as they find their way. Lighthearted and sweet, lovable characters yearning for more that what they think they can have, and while they make you laugh and blush, you are cheering at the sidelines for their HEA. Putting it all on the line for love, they really are an awesome read. Thank you to the author for the copy to review.

"I'm not going to lost this chance with her, with the only girl who's treated me like a regular guy in longer than I can remember, the only girl who understands what a life in the pro-leagues is like."

Hooking Up by Allison Starwood was a first for me from this author and I was pleasantly surprised. I love a good sports romance and this one was sweet and sexy. I read it in a day, couldn't put it down. Fell in love with the characters right away. Sometimes I'm in the mood for something with low drama and Hooking Up filled that for me.

The story is about Kylie and Ethan. Ethan is a pro football player that falls for the coaches daughter, Kylie. The two don't want to go public in fear that her father may not approve and Ethan is not ready to lose his place on the team. These two are so cute and one extremely hot little couple. I loved them from the very beginning.

If you're looking for something sweet, sexy and low drama this is the book for you. A solid sports romance with the right amount of football and steam to make it the perfect book. I highly recommend this book for any sports romance lover. I was given this ARC for my honest opinion.

Kylie the coach's daughter. Off limits to players. Yet when she is giving the chance will she go for it or will she let her fears stand in the way? She's young and smart has her own business. She doesn't live off her dad's money, in fact she would rather she didn't have much to do with him currently. She's been holding on to a secret.
Ethan is the new player on the team. He's a big football star. When he sets his sights in the coach's daughter will things end up in disaster? He's big, he's sexy and he knows it. Cocky and yet so much more.
Things are hit and heavy with these two. It was an amazing read! 5 stars!

Fantastic sports romance!!!

Kylie Sullivan has always played it safe when it came to men. Ethan Hudson was suppose to be a one time thing. Not everything is black and white. Kylie needs to overcome her fears when it comes to pro football players and Ethan is just the man for the job.

I loved how this book showed you that no matter what if it's worth it you fight for it!!! Never give up!!

Wonderful storyline, very well written, emotional and full of passion!! Would highly recommend!!!

Enjoyed the book. Great story line about family issues and insecurities within the profession. Worth the read. I deducted a star because the book had a few errors other than misspelled words. Errors where the wrong name was used and I had to reread the sentence a few times to understand. Will definitely look for other books by this author. We are all human and I enjoyed the book.

Kylie, coaches daughter yet fiercely independent and strong willed will not entertain the idea of a Player on any level but oh how she's thought about it.

Ethan, star player, new to the team a somewhat typical egotistical jock but is drawn to kylie in a big way despite who she is.

The story develops well and I loved the moments of angst mixed in with a delightful love story that's written well it really does hook you until the end.

A fantastic first read from Allison Starwood can't wait for the next book.

Kylie the coach's daughter and Ethan the new star player.
I fell in love with both the H/h in this especially Kylie I thought she was an awesome heroine there was just something about them both that was totally endearing sometimes love just conquers all.

I really loved loved loved did I mention I loved this story LOL I'm a big fan off football books maybe because I'm not American and its something new for me that keeps me interested, this book was so good a bit of angst a bit of drama plenty of chemistry and passion, sometimes you just need a good romance novel and this book was that for me I really enjoyed and had a warm fuzzy feeling reading it and a smile on my face I would definitely recommend it and was thrilled to bits I got the opportunity to read and review.

P.S, I'm hoping like mad that Ava will get a book as well !!!!

This is my first book by this author. I really liked this book, because I love reading about sports in books. It had good supporting players in Ava, Kylie’s sister, and Angie her friend. Then there is Ethan’s teammates. They were not bad but just his teammates/friends. Ethan is a wide receiver in the NFL. He is new to the team and really good and good looking. He can have any woman he wants. Now Kylie is the daughter of Ethan’s coach. There are sparks when they see/meet for the first time. They officially meet when Ava gets invited to an after party by one of Ethan’s teammates/roommate.

Kylie doesn't want to date a football player. She believes they are players and can't settle down. She believes she needs to play it safe. Will she play it safe or just have it be a hookup?

The sexual chemistry between these two, you can cut with a knife. I really enjoyed reading about a star football player that was a good guy. He cared about Kylie. I loved how he just wanted her and talked her into more things here and there. He knew Kylie understood what football was like. The on the road and travel and not always being around. Kylie was the one with the issues. To find those out you have to read the book. This won’t be my last book by this author. I would love to see more of all of these people. I hope Ava gets a book. She would be a hoot. This book was fun and kept the reader engaging and interested in the story.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE a good sports romance and Hooking Up by Allison Starwood has everything that I look for in a sports romance and more.

Kylie Sullivan has a rule...NO PLAYERS. Ethan Hudson doesn't know about her rule or who she is and despite his best pal on the team seriously advising him to stay away, Ethan goes after Kylie. What starts out as a friendship morphs into so much more with Ethan breaking down every wall and misconception that Kylie has about athletes and dating. When she starts to truly fall for Ethan, their romance, which has been on the down low, has the potential to come to the forefront in a really big way.

Will Kylie put aside her fears and the misconceptions from her teenage years and truly give Ethan a chance? Or will she walk away, breaking both her heart and his in the process? You will need to read this fantastic story to find out! I need more about this team!!!

My first book by Allison Starwood & it was an full-on touchdown!! There was a great mix of character dialogue with their humorous conversations - they had me cracking up. I really liked this book; Ethan was determined to break down Kylie's walls. He wanted in and he was going to do what it took to get inside & stay. Experience from the past shadows into Kylie's choices in regards to relationships, she doesn't want any type of relationship with a pro-athlete as they will be just like "him." The ending was a HEA and it was absolutely perfect for this couple. I look forward to seeing what Allison writes next.

I really enjoyed Hooking Up by Allison Starwood. This is my first experience with her writing, but I saw a blog posting of the book and thought the synopsis sounded interesting so I wanted to give it a read. Overall, I found the book very enjoyable. The story line was fun and it was a nice quick read. Her dialogue was a little rushed in places but I think that will continue to develop and get stronger with each book she writes. I look forward to experiencing more of her books in the future.
I would recommend this book to fans of sports romances, especially football - and of course those who enjoy the "forbidden"/ fall in love in secret type of genres.
Happy Reading....enjoy!

These sweet sports romances are really starting to grow on me. This one was well, perfect. Kylie doesn't trust football players and Ethan plays for her father's team. It was instance chemistry for these two even though Kylie fights it the whole book! Ethan obviously has thick skin because he hangs on to her as best as he can, and the dates he takes her own are so sweet. It's an adorable relationship that expresses everyday fears when dating someone who is in the spotlight so much. Ethan makes you want to fall for a football player!

Kylie's dad is a coach on the team Ethan plays for. He's looking for a girl who understands football & his schedule & choosers kylie she's against getting mixed up with anyone on the team! After all she's seen how her dad is.
Can they overcome this?
I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion & found it an easy read.

This was an okay read for me, even though it didn't have much quality in it to stand out. I was entertained with Ethan and Kylie's story, and was happy that they both eventually came to their senses and fought for each other towards the end. Would've liked more depth to the story, but I think this is just one of those feel-good romantic reads that has an extra heat in it.

A sweet love story without a huge tension build - a plus for me. Packed with hot jocks, sexy moments, and lots of action on and off the football field, I enjoyed getting to know Ethan and Kylie together from the start and see their relationship grow. The book was well-written and nicely edited. I definitely recommend for a fun romantic read with a HEA.
