Despite being the junior Elemental, Logan’s never had to worry about failing a mission before. Not until an overgrown and annoyingly attractive shifter comes along.
Being an Elemental is in Logan’s blood. Hers is the gift of Air, a vast power she’s still struggling to control. Then a Were named Connell hunts her down. His wolf is missing, and he blames her.
A den of werewolves is the last place Logan wants to be. The testosterone alone is enough to make her choke. But she has a mystery to solve. She will find out who is stealing wolves even if kills her.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what the enemy has planned…

L.B. Gilbert is another name for USA Today Bestselling Author Lucy Leroux. She is an award-winning novelist who spent years getting degrees from the most prestigious universities in America, including a PhD that she is not using at all. She moved to France for work and found love. Her family moved back to California a few years ago after a decade abroad.
Lucy has always enjoyed reading books as far from her reality as possible but eventually the voices in her head told her to write her own. And so far the voices are enjoying them.
2nd read: I found this to be just as entertaining the second time around. This is also a perfect example of when the story is more than enough to keep my attention for a clean romance.
1st read: I absolutely loved this book! It was funny and entertaining. Connell is a dominant alpha wolf shifter that has been stripped of his wolf. The only ones capable of doing such a thing are the elementals. Or so he thought.
When Connell chases down Logan to demand his wolf back, he realizes that not only did he believe her when she said they weren’t responsible, but he has become completely smitten with her.
Logan is a very powerful being as an air elemental. She is just as puzzled about who could strip him of his wolf as he is and agrees to help him find the culprits. She prefers to work a case alone but Connell refuses to leave her side.
The fact that Connell couldn't go all alpha on Logan was really entertaining. She’s really strong for such a tiny thing and can leave him in the dust by traveling with the wind. It takes sheer determination to keep her by his side. Their interactions had me laughing out loud a lot in this story.
This book takes you on a fun but serious journey to find out who stole Connells wolf and what their evil plans are. There were also a lot of enjoyable side characters to round out the story. I highly recommend this to fellow paranormal fans.
Shifter Connell chases down powerful Elemental Logan to demand his wolf back, but she isn't the one who stole his wolf. A defender of the innocent and the hand of justice Logan is ready to help Connell what she doesn't expect is his insistence that he be by her side. Drawn to Logan, Connell is determined to keep her as close as possible.
I liked how strong and powerful Logan is and the fact she had the wolves from Connell's pack shocked, their jaws drooping at her power.
I wasn't keen on how a woman's position in the pack once mated depended on her male mate's position (even if she was the most powerful) that just sucked.
An entertaining read, I enjoyed the MCs in this, especially Logan.
Logan is an Air Elemental - and this Lady take the whole "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" thing to the next level! She was a fun, spontaneous, feisty female MC.
She is tracked by a werewolf, minus his wolf, Connell. Connell believe she is the one that stripped him of his wolf and he has tracked her across three continents. Then, Dang it all, he discovers she's his mate too....what a mess.
Together - somewhat reluctantly they agree to work together to figure out who is responsible and punish accordingly.
Connell is definitely an Alpha male - even though he is without his wolf - he still feels the need to dominate and protect his "delicate" mate. The back and forth between the two is funny and rather sweet (but not saccharine) and they do have a pretty amazing chemistry that seems to spin off the pages.
A bit of cliffhanger in the plot - but it's definitely setting up for the next book.
After reading Fire, my expectations were pretty high and Air was nothing less than I anticipated. It's captivating, action packed, there are a more obvious love and even more humour. I couldn't put it down! L. B. Gilbert is really climbing to my Top favourite authors with enviable speed.
Her writing is captivating and very good. It's not hard and it's easy to read and understand although it's pretty hard for me to find the proper words to describe it. Her chapters... Read the rest on my blog
I was given this ebookARC in exchange of an honest review.
This one was much better developed. Logan felt more "real" and Connel was amusing. Combined with the consistent quality in the writing and plot, I'm now completely invested in the series. The book definitely progressed the overall ARC of the story, with one painful twist I wondered about. Very much looking forward to book 3.
Upon finishing, I appreciate the interesting world that this author is trying to create in each installment. There weren't any vampires featured in this story and I think I enjoyed it more because of that. Werewolves are ok, but vampires aren't. Go figure. LOL.
The mystery was a little light and I would've liked to see more development in the overarching plot, but the fact that this book's plot is linked to the preceding book and the subsequent book made it more enjoyable.
The romance was alright. There was nothing about the H's past with women, only that he'd . I appreciated that there were no intimate scenes for me to skip (yay!) and that there was no real OP drama.
Air starts off with Logan the youngest elemental having to enact justice on the family that committed the crimes in the previous book. Once justice was delivered she went dancing, where she felt as if she was being watched. She was by Connell, a werewolf who believes that she stripped him of his wolf. Logan realizes that Connell will need her help to get his wolf back, but along the way the wind speaks truths to her that cause to her have to intervene. This of course puts Connell’s male side on edge.
Logan is different from Diana in that she has a softness about her that is due to her age. Yes, she is an elemental but her momma and her aunt raised her in such a way that she is independent. She knows how to take care of herself and understands the value of family. She is a fighter for justice across the magical world and takes her job serious. She just also takes unwinding serious as well. She is weary of outsiders as she should be. Although, there are some insiders that she does not trust either.
Connell is beta to his father’s alpha. He knows that without his wolf the dynamics in his pack will shift. He needs to find who stole his wolf and work out how it is even possible. The only ones with the right to strip magical beings of the power is the elementals. Logic would dictate that he must hunt the one known to strip powers, that being Logan. He does not find what he expects.
That these two are mates comes as no surprise. What does come as a surprise is Connell’s easy acceptance of it. Logan has a harder time and continues to fight the good fight- her attraction to him. Connell is ready and willing to do what is necessary to prove to her that their being mates is real. Without his wolf though, how can Logan trust that. The tension between the two is pretty hard core and it is fun to watch as they battle it out.
The two must work together to figure out how and why someone is stealing other’s wolfs. All is not what it seems and there has been a breach among the elementals. Who is the weakest, and how are they to handle the information that they obtain?
Air is a fun easy read that is just what you need after a hard week at work. It does not end in a cliffhanger but there are enough questions left over that Air ends with a perfect set up for Water.

This book is definitely good on it's own, with the previous issue, Fire. However, I found the exposition a bit heavy. As I didn't read Fire, I don't know how much of that is just putting us on even keel with those who did. The twist at the end wasn't obvious, so that was refreshing, but almost all the other relationships were predictable, not bad, just obvious. I did enjoy this book and received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is book two in the Elemental Series & I liked this book even more than the first one. The narrative is complex & intertwined with a unexpected twist & shocking ending. I loved Logan's character who is an air elemental with snarky characteristics & Connell's who is a dominant alpha wolf characteristics. A paranormal romance that is captivating & entertaining. Looking forward to reading the next novel in this series.
I loved the first book in this series, and I love this book too! If you haven't read the first book in the series, I suggest doing that first because you will have a better understanding of the events in this book, and although this book is told from different character's POV's than the first there are connecting events and the same characters are in both books. In Air, we follow Air Elemental, Logan, as she helps wolf shifter, Connell, find out who has stolen his wolf out of his body. Logan has the ability to manipulate air, so she can travel long distances in a short time, and use it to move objects and such, and just like Diana from the first book, Fire, she is a bad ass! I love that she has spunk and I love her mannerisms! There is a bit of humor throughout the book that I love, and I love all the magic use and the addition of shifters! If you haven't read the first book, Logan is one of four Elementals, who sort of "police" those who commit really bad crimes in the supernatural world and each Elemental is really strong and each has awesome powers associated with their elements, and I find the whole premise so interesting and entertaining. Once I start reading one of these books, I can't stop till I finish it! The romance is super sweet, and I loved how Connell couldn't be swayed with how he feels for Logan, his devotion to Logan was adorable. Logan and Connell are super cute together! Plus, there are some awesome action scenes! And I always love a bit of mystery. I like that we get some glimpses of the other Elementals, and I actually would love more of them! I'm definitely reading the next book!
Travel Elemental Air into danger, mystery, and romance. Logan is an air elemental who polices illegal supernatural activities. She is doing fine until a hunky wolfless werewolf tracks her down to kidnap her and force the return of his wolf. The banter between them is exquisite as they struggle with the concept that they may be mates. I like the action, humor, and romance. I very much enjoyed the first book "Fire". "Air' is a worthy sequal. I look forward to the next book.
WOW I thought book 1 was good but I think this book is a little better. You need to read book 1 first to appreciate the story line in this book. Fantastic characters and story line in this book.
I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book. This is book 2 of the series The Elementals by the author.
Air picks up the story around the time that the young Chinese elemental Logan must punish the Burgess family for Sage's crimes revealed in Fire, by Diana. The wind whispers the truth and the lies spoken by the people she hunts. Logan has been waiting patiently around the Georgian estate in countrywide England, until a time when most of the family is together so her message is carried further. Like Diana's fireplace entry into the coven in Fire, Logan chooses a similarly sylish entry through an unlit chimney. Appearing on the dining room table she's glad she went with leather pants and not the mini she considered wearing; given the number of eyes staring up in surprise. Gerard continued to show how and why he'd navigated his way to the top of the house's line. The cool, calm and collected master of the house accepts Mother's judgement as surely as if it were his own, reinforcing why his house is one of the major seven.
After explaining the why of her arrival, Logan delivers judgement in the name of Mother, stripping Sage's father and step-mother of their magic. Logan was assigned collection of reparation for precisely this reason, having never done a stripping before. It was much easier than she'd thought. It was the short period following her judgement when a startling revelation becomes known. Above the mantle of her entry, hanging on the wall, is another of the weapons not of their world. If only the covenant permitted its destruction they would not have to wait until it was used to injure another before having to come and collect it. Hardly an expert in covenant law given she inherited position at the young age of seventeen, she was pretty sure the details forbade such an act. Logan was brought up with knowledge of the potential legacy floating around her body in her blood. More than one of her ancestors had gained the exalted position of Mother's elementals, both Fire and Air within her descendants. Given the female line of inheritance her mother and aunt had schooled her well in this knowledge.
As Logan seeks out an underlife club to partake in her favourite repast and dance away the burden of her responsibilities, another seeks her there. Unlike the typical club goer that would approach and pass her by, Connell, with his missing wolf was there seeking his latest mark to get his wolf back. He'd researched the air elemental as much as was possible the past few months, her love for passing away her night in the throws of dancing being one of the first things he'd learnt. Not one to frequent such places, it only took a few instances of dead eyed glances for approaching dancers to know he was off limits. Having been nearly destroyed a few months ago, know thy enemy had become his mantra since. Having not seen her before he's taken aback and angry at recognition of the intense sensuality and abandonment in the most petitely beautiful dancer he'd ever known. As another part of his anatomy, another with an eye, makes its own recognition known he comes to realise he's in trouble as he struggles to regain control. None of his current thoughts are particularly conducive to doing what he must to survive.
The interactions between Logan and Connell take a decidedly humourous turn. To Logan's frustration he shows an uncanny knack of being able to track where she goes. The Mother designed her police to be resistant to tracking by any other than their own. The greatest early surprises in their relations are thus twofold: having convinced her to help solve the puzzle of his missing wolf she's introduced to her first airplane flight. The artificial nature to the air created by planes that allow them to fly at higher altitudes plays havoc on Logan's equilibrium. Amidst a panic attack she dematerialises and proceeds to flow around the cabin looking for an exit. Until that is, Connell begins to worry she'll bring the plane down with him and the pilot still in it. Focusing his senses he concentrates and reaches up to pluck her immaterial body from the air, something no one should be able to do and certainly nothing so insignificant as a Were without his wolf. Having already decided that distraction's necessary to restore control, he proceeds to shove his tongue down her throat. Briefly recovering from her panic as a certain reality enters her conscious mind from these two acts, Logan progresses to taking up one of his earlier suggestions and proceeds to down a third of a bottle of Scotch. Effectively passing out blind drunk the ride goes easier until she awakens once on the tarmac. Like Diana failed to intimate Alec's apparent developments toward being her mate, the virginal Logan also takes a similar road. Like Alec, once Connell makes up his mind he goes full steam ahead too, and being a Were his is with a little more abandonment.
For his part there's certain instincts kicking in that shouldn't be possible given his missing wolf. Connell knows from his own experiences and mistakes that there are two roads Weres can take to pick mates. The wolf can pick first which means eventually the heart will follow and the two usually match up. Or the man can pick first but most often the wolf rejects and then the man has to follow. He made this last anguished mistake with an ex he still can't rid himself of. Given his wolf is no longer present the former shouldn't be possible. As his missing wolf hadn't yet picked he can only assume his broken aura and soul are making yet another mistake, as his budding insanity is initially perceived to grow. Knowing the help of the elementals is his best and only shot at returning his soul to its former glory, he knows its necessary to keep her at his side. Just what this will do to the two in denial, is anyone's guess but brings with it some hilarity. Of course any reader of Fire will know what's developing even if those involved speak not.
As Diana was joined by Logan and Air became the next book, Gia (Earth) has now joined Logan to assist in the current main investigations. If this is the link then one might think that Earth will be the next book. Diana dealt with diabolical black witches with magic being the key to the plot. Now magic rears its head again as Weres begin to have their wolves stolen. After Connell the next victim is once again a child. The perpetrator(s) has cut to far and deep this time, and the damage done to Connell's aura is more extensive in the new victim Sammy. The seven-year old cub not only lost his wolf, he's also losing his life. Connell being an Alpha in his own right, showed signs of possibly getting through it, and his closeness to Logan is now acting like a balm for his soul. The wound in Sammy is more extensive and reveals his aura is bleeding out. Eventually he'll lose his life with it as it returns fully into the aether. Logan's prodigy status is once again confirmed when she allows her instincts to take over, and she temporarily sows the wound with a patch from her own aura. Even Gia, with her centuries of wisdom, has never heard of the like before.
The cast is once again a strength of the telling. Centralised in North America the action takes place closer to home. Even distant characters are as enjoyable, with a fierce twin and a lovable new young boy. The ingenuity of relations between characters is particularly a strength. No single identity is complete without the rest. Often there's one or two, no more than a handful, that drive the story wherever it goes. Not so in The Elementals which increases it's capacity with the new addition to the story. Furthermore the background plot continues to develop with no current signs of abating. In this way even though the present plots of each novel are wrapped up, the story continues to grow. The pieces contribute to the whole so that each part gains importance, This also provides many opportunities for readers to assess where the puzzle is going, captivating more as it goes. There's a definite momentum now and I look particularly forward to whatever book will be next. Its early to say that the pattern is foolproof, but as above it could be Earth that's next. The raw power of Gia has been intimated thus far, so the next could be pretty exciting: not to suggest however that Fire or Air weren't. I've had a soft spot for elementals and this new conceptualisation reconfirms for me why I've always liked them.
When Logan, an Air Elemental whose role in life is to police other Supernatural’s behaviour, is thrust against Connell, a macho, Alpha Werewolf, searching for the person who stole his Wolf, sparks are sure to fly. These two unlikely partners join forces to uncover the mystery happening in Connell’s Were pack. Who is stealing the shifter form of these Werewolves, for what purpose and what ancient magic are they utilising to achieve their evil aims? In Air: The Elementals Book Two, L.B. Gilbert takes us on an at times, romantic, but always exhilarating journey deep into the woods of the strongest werewolf pack in North America, as Logan and Connell race time, betrayal and their own deep feelings for each other to unravel the mystery of the stolen shifter forms?
I’m not a great reader of Werewolf or Magic type stories, but I was totally entranced with the characters drawn by Gilbert, in Air. Logan, a diminutive, Asian, Air Elemental was a wonderful character, full of sass, full of cockiness and more than a match for the overbearing, eternally macho and, of course, gorgeously sexy Connell. Both appeared to have finally met their match in each other and it seemed logical that they would be drawn to each other. Some of the best dialogue in the book was the snappy and witty repartee from, especially Logan, but also Connell. In addition to this, the author took us on a journey filled with twists and turns that never ceased to surprise. In fact, despite my initial reservations of the book, given the content, I can honestly say Air is one of the best books I’ve read this year. It was “un-put-downable” and I raced through it with little pause. An excellent read and within its genre, definitely one of the best.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and this is the second book in a series. Being the second in a series in no way was detrimental to my enjoyment of the book. We are introduced to Logan who is a wind elemental. She is young, but she is still a very capable elemental. The story opens with her punishing the people from the first book, Fire, by taking away their magic. As the book progresses, we find out Connell is a wolf that has lost his ability to shift and blames the elementals. He is tracking Logan thinking she’s the one who has done this to him. What follows is an excellently-written story of how both characters find each other while solving what is happening in the shifter community. I was so engrossed in the story, I had a really hard time putting the book down. The mystery was excellent, the characters were very real with Logan being a wonderful mix of newbie but a still capable enforcer, and the plot was great. The only thing I had a hard time with was the name “Logan”; it threw me off a little because I kept expecting a man: my fault not the author’s. Now I want to go back and read the first one and desperately want to read the next one. This will not be my last book by this author, and I am looking forward to more! Highly recommend!
Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed. This same review will be posted on both Goodreads and Amazon.
The world-building in this series really pulled me in. Mobile phones? Nope. Fire elementals can fry them. Air elementals can send their message out in the air. Planes? Nope, literal air travel is faster. Logan can push some air to speed up planes, too.
Diana in Book 1 was badass, and Logan is too, but as the youngest elemental, she can mess up, and I related to her a lot more. There's something to be said about the Elementals' friendship. Sisters, not by blood, but in every way that counts. :-)
Connell was amazing. ❤️ Protective of Logan even when she can handle herself just fine. I think my issue with Book 1 was that everything was too easy for Diana and I never felt there was any real risk. In this book, I felt Logan's struggle, and I like how the stakes were higher. Will read the next book, because I want to know what's up with Serin.
Not as enjoyable as the first book for me but thats only because I liked the heroine, Diana, in first book more. Just a personal taste. I do love how the two heroines were so different. Many authors make the mistake of saying the characters are different in a series but really they are interchangeable.
I did get the impression that Diana was a bit more excitable, a bit more naive. So in that aspect it was done really well.
Don't get me wrong I did absolutely enjoy this book! It was so good. I love the plot. I love the interaction between Logan and Connell. It was great story telling! Like I said the ONLY reason why I liked Fire more, is because I liked Diana more.
I loved this book. This book has Logan who is an air elemental, she showed up in book one (Fire) to help Diana. Logan has a problem, she is being watched, at least she thinks she is. Connell is the one following her and while he thinks that he is able to hide his actions from her he is wrong and she knows that he is there. Connell thinks that Logan is a thief and that she took something from him. Connell's mind is blown when Logan not only finds and confronts him but she also is willing to help him find what he lost. Connell falls for Logan fast and he is thinking about forever when she is thinking about right now. Which one of them will be right and will they find what Connell lost?
This is the second book in this elemental series and I absolutely loved it. Logan is an 'air' elemental, she disintegrates and goes with the currents place to place. Connell is an Alpha werewolf, 2nd in charge and in dire straights. Somehow his wolf was stripped from him and he has no memories of how. Can they solve this mystery together and return his wolf? Can they find the attacker before more wolves are harmed? Why is this even happening? Great story line, fast paced and action packed. I highly recommend it.
L.B Gilbert never disappoints. I was really looking forward to this book as I loved Logan in the first book, Fire. The author introduces this book, so it can be read as a standalone, which is great. She does a fantastic job of creating the scene, characters and it makes you just consume this book in one sitting. Who doesn’t love a bad-ass chick as the main character? ☺
Air is book two in the Elemental Series and I have to say I enjoyed this book even more than the first one. This one picks up soon after Fire left-off. Air is an action-packed read that takes place in an exciting world of magic and with supernatural creatures with a really good mystery, a strong, spunky kick ass heroine at its heart, and some romance through in. Well worth reading.
Logan and Connell are a good couple in terms of spark and engagement on the page. The misunderstanding part was somewhat annoying as an obvious plot device. My biggest issue was the age point. Logan is 19 and this was her first relationship. I really think that she as barely older than a child. This really bothered me.
I knew from the scenes with Logan in book one that she'd be an interesting person. Logan and Connell are like oil and water at first. They have to work together to figure out what evil is up to now with ripping out shifters and killing them. There are a couple of laugh out loud moments.
One of my favourite parts of this book is the part where Logan calls Connell a pussy after his first flight with her. The idea of calling the big fierce werewolf a pussy appealed.
Then she made it better be telling his sister, just gold.
Not normally a romance reader, really enjoying this series. Stories are well written and very engaging. Got to the last fifth of the book and couldn't put it down. Gladly bought the next book in the series when I finished this one.
