Abraham's wife Sarah was one of the first links in the chain of faithful people who believed God and obeyed him. This book tells of her life and shows how the response of individuals to the call of God can affect history
This is an incredibly engaging and easy to read depiction of the story of Abraham and Sarah from Genesis. Wendy Virgo's story telling opens up the story so that rather than reading the words simply from the Bible, we get a real feel for the emotions and reality of the scenarios that Abraham and Sarah went through; abandoning everything they knew on the promise of something not yet seen but to come, from a God they knew little about!
The book takes you through Sarah's personal encounter of God, long after Abraham's, and how as a couple they had struggled during a time of Abraham's un-shaking faith in God, and Sarah's distant understanding of who this God was.
Wendy Virgo manages to draw from this retelling of a Biblical couple some very real applications for us today about faith, obedience and submitting. Quite a challenging read for any woman who is married, and anyone under an authority who should be submissive.
Not one for feminists! Be warned - but a very Biblically based look at God pleasing submission, whilst retaining a head-strong personality. I would recommend to anyone who is teachable in becoming more Christ like!
A brilliant book Wendy Vergo manages to discuss womans role in a biblical sence, linking the importance of womans role in Gods plan with our need for salvation through Jesus Christ. To quote Wendy " Jesus, only he can give us what we need inlife".
