When the cruel elements of the Montana Territory inflict tragedy on the Bennett family, life is forever changed. Jess is certain the answer to her pain lies in starting over. Rachel Miller has been involved in children's and women's ministries for more than 25 years. She has had the joy of serving both in her hometown as well as in various countries around the world. While, as the founder of Forbid Them Not Ministries, her ministry has primarily focused on work among orphans, she has also led individual and group women's Bible studies, spoken at women's retreats and conferences, participated in women's prison ministries, and overall enjoyed the blessings of serving Christ.
She is the author of ten books and the editor on several other projects.
When not involved in ministry or writing, Rachel can be found spending time with family and friends or adventuring in her home state of Montana. And, she is likely to do all of it with a cup of tea in hand.
This is the first book that I have read by this author but I have already downloaded the sequel. I really enjoyed the descriptions. I have never been in a blizzard, but I found myself in one in the first chapter of this book. The tension between family members, as they each make their own choices, is palpable and compels one further into the story. This is a thought provoking Christian novel.
She did a really good way of handling religious scenes without being cheesy/preachy. The family dynamics were so relatable and real. It’s a really great story, I look forward to book two!
The story line was slow and had to push my self to finish this book. I'm not going to read the next, just not interested in Jess and to see what happens to her, she's A spoiled ungrateful brat and needs to find Christ again. Some may like this book but I did not.
Beautifully developed, this dialogue-rich prairie novel chronicles two siblings' divergent responses to heartache and tragedy. Practical application of Scriptural truths undergirds the storyline, while detailed descriptions and clever humor add warmth. A pleasant, thought-provoking read.
