Tsutomu Nihei (弐瓶 勉 Nihei Tsutomu, born 1971) is a Japanese manga artist. His cyberpunk-influenced artwork has gained a strong cult following. He has a relatively large community of fans in Germany where his manga Blame!, NOiSE and Biomega were published by Ehapa. Blame! was also published in France and Spain by Glénat, in the US by Tokyopop and in Italy by Panini Comics.

At first he studied architecture and later it is shown up in his manga works with drawing huge structures. This became one of his general theme that makes his manga unique. His works are usually in black and white. He is also an avid fan of the video game series Halo, as he mentions in his commentary section in the Halo Graphic Novel.

Why would you build anything so damn big and impractical? Why choose such long names for characters?

After the elevator ride, Killy and Cibo meet Dhomochevsky, a man that's over two and a half centuries old, and his Casper-like... thing called Ico. They engage in a short destructive fight that leaves Cibo captured and Killy on his way out to be evicted from the city. He escapes and begins the road back to Cibo.

Dhomo (because I refuse to write his whole name and the author also realizes his mistake in choosing it) must prevent the silicons from obtaining the human gene sample from Cibo as someone named Davinel wants to use it to access the netsphere from the central nexus. Simple, right? Whatever all those words mean. Cibo tries to get away, but then realizes that joining Dhomo is a better idea and also gains some cool abilities from her suit. They barely get away from the deadly silicon assassin sent after them.

В этом томе появляются два новых персонажа - Домачевский и его друг-облачко (призрак?) Ико. Килли и Сибо вступают с ним в схватку, распознав в нём врага. Но позже все приходят к пониманию, что не такие уж они друг другу и враги, и вместе они могут выполнить свои задачи. Так что скорее всего в следующих томах главных лиц будет больше.
В плане графики это один из моих любимых томов. Не раз я останавливался для того, чтобы внимательно рассмотреть рисунки. Есть весьма колоритные кремниевые создания. Сам Домачевский как персонаж мне не очень понравился, но зато история получает новый толчок в сюжете.

The plot progresses with the introduction of fresh new characters, Dhomochevsky and Iko. The readers get to an interesting dynamic between them and the main characters.

[Strangerealms]

This dark, gritty, alienating, violent cyberpunk manga is really good. The artist Nihei is really gifted to draw buildings and he creates an empty world left with never ending growing buildings, metallic structures, and deadly creatures out to get you. The structures and the Safeguards who were once protecting the population, are now out of control and kill everyone on sight, due to a virus the population was exposed to. Killy is set to find a person whose genes (Net Terminal Genes) are uncorrupted by the virus in order to get back the control over the structures and the Safeguards since only such a person can access the control center. During that time the Silicones, the official bad guys, keep causing troubles and want to stop Killy. Thankfully, Killy is a powerful cyborg and makes friend along the way with Cibo a scientist.

The manga has barely any dialogue, Blame! is the kind of manga where you really have to pay attention to each image and even reread a few times the manga in order to really understand what is going on. I think it is worth it.

Masih seperti biasa hha. Artwork Nihei sensei dalam beberapa panel memang menunjukkan aksi laga yg cukup menarik, suasananya begitu luar biasa, namun untuk urutannya aksinya sukar utk mengikuti urutannya hmm :-/
Beberapa dialog Ico dg Cibo cukup memberikan beberapa data terkait kepentingan Silikon terhadap gen manusia serta keberadaan Net Terminal Genes yg menjadi sasaran utama sepanjang serial ini

I FINALLY get it!

Oh, my, the stuff that happens. No talking, and when there is dialect, I don't understand the big terms. But all that is made up with the art. The images are superb and I am left wondering, "Who thinks this up?" Every new chapter, there is some weird image resembling human form, but it isn't actually human. It has huge ass claws, or a third eye, or it's hollow where the brain should be with really long hair cascading. They are all very tall with no waist, and creepy looking. And the main character, I admit looks better in colour, but still looks good in all the images. He has a strong sense of self. I admire him. :)

Here's to hoping that this good feeling continues. *fingers crossed*

makin rumit aja nih. killy dan cibo sampai di level tersembunyi di megastruktur dan bertemu dengan safeguard khusus yang ditugasi unutk melindungi manusia di level tersebut. entah karena alasan apa, si Dommo nembak killy dan mengirimnya kembali ke bawah. sementara itu cibo--yang ga bisa bergerak karena dihinggapi silicon life yang menyatu dengan sistem sarafnya--diselamatkan Dommo dan Iko. tapi Dommo menyita kapsul berisi data-data Seu dan pistol GBE killy. Cibo yang tersadar berusaha melarikan diri dari Dommo tapi malah diserang sekumpulan silicon yang dipimpin Schiff, salah satu silicon level tinggi alias the thoughest of the lot, kalo kata Iko.

Pluses: Still the same wonderfully scratchy, atmospheric art (though it's beginning to feel rushed at times, with shadows substituting for a need to detail spaces). Still the same interesting overall narrative.

Minuses: Still the same oft unfollowable action sequences. Still the same plot that could fit in one sixth of the space. Still the same stilted dialog (though it's possible that could be the fault of the translator, but I'm doubting it).
