I loved this short, sweet story, and the easy way it slid into the paranormal world. I'm always a fan of secret communities with money, and I loved that Hunter and Rex worked for someone called Den Mother.

Casey is sweet as sugar and sassy as all get out. I kind of tipped the fact they were "mates" by the way the two of them thought about how the other smelled, but that's because I love shifters. I wasn't surprised by the swiftness of their love, since Casey was so very alone and Hunter so determined to remain aloof. Loved the way the story played out, and the sex was hot! This is the first story I've read by V.S. Morgan, but it won't be the last.

I have been really excited to try this new series from Decadent Publishing, their Beyond Fairytales series. Now I got the chance with Hunter’s Mark by V.S. Morgan. In Hunter’s Mark we meet Hunter and expert Marksman. His targets were always the worst of humanity. He didn’t mind taking out people who deserved it. But he did use caution.
Casey Smith has always led a quiet life. At twenty four years old and the minute Hunter sees him he wants to keep him for himself not kill him like the hit says he should.
The more Hunter investigates the more he finds that Casey is his much more than a target. He is his mate.
I really loved the humor in this book, made me smile as I read it. The wolves in this book made me want to know more about the pack and have another story with them in it.
I really would love to read more from V.S. Morgan in the future and more about the werewolves and the men they love.

Hunter is an assassin, saving money for his sister’s surgery before he retires. When he smells Casey he realizes he’s not only a shifter, but his Mate. Convincing Casey that Hunter is safe when all Casey has known is humans is the real challenge.

**

VS Morgan is a new author, to me, but one I’m now going to follow!
This is a short but funny, sweet and sexy shifter story. I thought that there was great world-building despite the length and the character development was excellent.

There is a brief introduction to the MC from book two and a very HEA.

Highly recommended to fans of shifter romances in bite-sized portions!

I read the second in this series first when a friend lent me her copy. She also lent me a copy of the first one in the series which I also enjoyed. I really liked both Casey and Hunter along with Rex who is one of the MCs in the next book in the series. I also loved Priss, Casey’s little Pomeranian. While it didn’t really add anything new to the shifter genre, it was still an entertaining story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Fun Short Read

I enjoyed this story, particularly the characters, including Casey's dog, Miss Priss. The MCs' "voices" seemed authentic, and there was real difference between them, unlike some M/M romances I've read.

If I'd been able, I would have given 3.5 stars, since I thought Miss Priss was worth half a star. Overall, I felt this "book" needed to be about 30 pages longer to do it justice. The plot was fairly predictable, even taking into account that the story was based on a fairytale, but toward the end everything seemed rushed, including the sex scenes, and there were some confusing and unexplained elements. The villain was a bit too convenient, and the whole circumstance of his takedown should have been fleshed out more.

That said, I would still recommend this story - it's really much too short to be considered a book- because sometimes we all need a fun and fluffy read.

like cover. this book was okay not into m/m at all but still read it. this book would of been better if it was longer and more to the plot. it started out great then nothing it felt rushed. but I did like hunter and others in the pack.

I loved Hunter's Mark. It is a sweet and sexy M/M shifter read. Hunter an assassin is hired to take out Casey, but when he finds out the man is a shifter he knows there is something fishy going on and goes into protector mode instead. In the process the two realize they are each other's mates and Hunter teaches Casey about how to live in the shifter world since he's been repressing his need to shift for years.

The voice for both men fit them and were distinct. Great writing style! I would have liked this story to be fleshed out a little more. Both men were strong characters with solid backstory, but their relationship seemed rushed. Other than that it was an enjoyable read.

Exploiting the target market

The reactions of the ex-military assassin to his bleeding heart target were enticing, albeit fed with a bit of fairy tale pace. The shifter setting (and senses/sensibilities) helped speed things along, especially when the steamy chemistry turned to sizzle, but also made for an overly quick resolution at the end. The strongest part, as the title suggests, was the hunting and being hunted, predator and prey analyzing and reacting to the environment and each other as the an eternal struggle gives way to dance.

A sweet re telling of an old fairytale. Very cute except the authors attempt at the black MC's slang. Made me cringe as it's more what a wanna be thug white boy says after watching rap videos. I can't imagine a grown man, former military, highly skilled assassin speaking like that.
