I read Wrapped Up and decided to give this book a chance. After reading the other one I wanted to know a little bit more about the Network and other stuff, but even if they keep mentioning it, they don't get into details about it, so I still have my doubts and questions unanswered. I have to say that the story was a little bit better than the previous one, but still is not a great book. I liked the relationship between Lucky and Kendra, but at the same time it was just too complicated. I really don't understand many of their decisions, and I think there were a lot of things they could have done differently, it just felt like most of the things they did could have been done better or smarter.

Lucky didn't hear the warnings and didn't change his ways. When one of his conquests is involved in a scandal, the new owner decides to trade him to another team. The new team is even worse about image, so Lucky knows that he has to do something. After the press starts to publish photos of him talking to the manager of the Older Brother charity, he decides to ask her to help him clean his image by pretending to be his girlfriend, only after a while he's no longer pretending, and he wants a real relationship. Just as he convinces her to give him a chance, things start to get complicated.

Kendra is having a hard time saving the charity after her predecessor stole the money and got arrested. One of the possible donors is willing to give a lot of money if Kendra agrees to sleep with him. She refuses him and he gets angry and tells her that he will have her one way or another, and if she doesn't agree he will rape her and won't even give her the money for the charity. She tells Lucky about it and moves to his house to be safe. At the same time, Lucky gets accused of hitting his ex. She wants a baby and when Lucky refuses to sleep with her, she gets mad and frames him to destroy his reputation. Lucky starts a legal battle while Kendra is struggling to keep the charity running, since Lucky scandals is affecting the charity and many people is withdrawing support.

Kendra starts thinking of accepting to sleep with the donor in exchange of the money, but Lucky gets mad and stops her. Not knowing what else to do he calls her parents to help her, and she gets mad since she doesn't have a good relationship with them. She finally agrees to let her parents give her the money she needs. While she is talking to her parents, Lucky goes to try and fix things with his ex, but while he is talking to her his lawyers call and when he goes to talk to them, they tell him that they have a witness that says that he didn't have anything to do with the attack on his ex, so the charges were withdrawn. Kendra arrives home first, and the donor arrives behind her, he decided not to wait anymore and is there to rape her, but Lucky arrives in time to save her. After that he finally clears his name and Kendra fix the charity. Lucky finally goes back to playing and after winning a game he proposes to Kendra in national tv.

One thing I didn't like is how both of them were getting bribed to have sex with other people, and none of them tried to get the other on tape or something. Lucky could have recorded his ex and used that to make her drop the charges or given it to the lawyers to help his case. And talking about his case, why no one used his alibi to clear his name, he had Kendra and his parents as witnesses that he was nowhere near his ex when the attack took place. Also Kendra could have recorded the creepy donor and used that to keep him from attacking her, telling him that she could use it against him. There were a lot of things that they could have done to protect themselves, but didn't use. I don't get that.

I received an ARC version of Pinned Down in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the book, not as much as book 1, but I still really enjoyed Lexi Cross' writing style.
Lucky and Kendra met each other and immediately felt an attraction and realized they could use the other to get what they wanted.
I will admit, I got kind of bored with the book. I read to escape the drama in my life, and I guess the drama in the book just didnt do it for me.
Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed the book. I LOVED the ending.
I can't wait for part 3 of the series.

I really enjoyed this book!! Cade, aka "Lucky" is lucky on the field and with the ladies. When he's traded to another team, you wonder if his luck has run out. Kendra is new to the area, as well, after taking over for a non profit. They both realize they need each other and enter into a mutual beneficial fake relationship. Can they keep it fake or will feelings get involved? This story is the second book in the series, but the first book doesn't have to be read to understand and enjoy this one.

Not For Me

This book was not for me. I couldn't get into it. One moment Lucky & Kendra we're together playing boyfriend & girlfriend and than it turned into a real relationship. But, each were willing to sleep with others to get they needed. Though Lucky's problem was real. Kendra was will to things just to fund her charity. That made me dislike her right away. I'm sure others will enjoy it but, it just wasn't for me.
